For the past year or so, my cart is randomly empty when I open the app. I use it as an ongoing shopping list, so when this happens, I lose my list. I recently realized that it coincides with app updates. Years ago, despite regular updates, my cart would always be retained. There was a major "upgrade" a year or so ago. Makes me want to rely on Target, Walmart, and Costco instead of the GE near my house....
I've mainly used it for delivery orders and, honestly, just a bad experience. There's no inventory control in terms of what's available and what isn't. You can place a delivery for 10 items and end up only getting 2 and having to pay more for delivery and tip than the cost of your groceries. Oftentimes, my items get replaced without asking, and other times, they just don't tell you their out of something. Save your money and go there yourself.
This app is TERRIBLE for prescription management. I have created an account but usually I cannot get it to work on my phone. I have a newer Android and it gets stuck on thr agreement that I have to agree to each and every time I log in. Usually I have to do the "refill now" option, which means I have to type in the prescription number and other information every time. This app really needs improvement for the prescription management. I do think the app is convenient for shopping and coupons.
inconsistent app. over the last year this app has had so7 many issues. from freezing when trying to pick up a Curbside order to the point where the app doesn't work & I have to call the store, to continously giving a 404 error and saying there's a connection issue. I haven't been able to log in to order food for pick up or even just look at the weekly ad in several days now. I've uninstalled and reinstalled this app more times than I can count this year.
This app update is awful!!! It updated in the middle of my order. The whole format changed. I had my whole order in. When I hit "Go to Payment," all I got was a twirling leaf and then a blank white screen with no buttons for credit cards, gift cards, food stamps, or any other way to pay. I couldn't submit my order at all because neither the app nor the website would let me pay. I had to use Instacart to get my groceries, and couldn't use my Perks!!! It cost a lot more than it should have!!!
I use the app probably every other week. This last order took me FOREVER! I kept getting an error message, and it was removing things from my cart, and my total kept changing. Plus, normally, you can click on items from the ad, and it will take you to the things on sale. It was showing none of those things either. I don't know what's going on with the app all of a sudden. Please fix it! It is basically impossible to use currently!
It's relatively easy to put items on my order and many more curbside pickup up times are now available. BUT I wish they would take some ideas from Aldi's website, which is much more user friendly. The biggest frustration of all - once you put in an order that's it - absolutely no editing! You can't change quantities, add or delete items, change the delivery date or time.
The app is easy to search for items, put in your cart, pick a time, and check out. The downside is the app does not allow you to add to an existing order. You have to go to the website to modify your order. Not convenient because you have to log in again and then go through check out again. The app should hold all info and allow you to select items and with one click add to existing orders. At least two other grocery stores with delivery have this feature. Giant Eagle should get on board.
I definitely enjoy using the app as it makes things easier for me to shop. The only issue that I have is some in-store tags say to scan product to get coupon and the scanner doesn't work! All it does is load and load and load. This is the only issue I have with the app. I've missed out on some decent deals due to the scanner not working, and some of them you can't manually search for the coupon! Please fix this and I'll give it 5 stars!
The employees at Giant Eagle are wonderful and make online ordering easy. On the other hand, the app has been crashing for about 3 months when I arrive to pick up my order, every single time. I reached out via email for help with the app, and the response was AI-generated garbage that completely ignored my actual issue. -5/5 for app-related customer service. 10/5 for the employees at my store!
Whoever came up with the idea of digital coupons that are app exclusive should be kicked in the groin swiftly and repeatedly. The inanity of having to sign in, search the app for the coupon, fail to find it despite putting in the exact product name, and then having to get a cashier in-store to override the system anyway, is almost impossible to comprehend. Why everyone's time is wasted with this useless system is beyond me, but I suppose it gets the executives a couple extra bucks.
Honestly, the app function is fine with the caveat that it never seems to be updated with the store's inventory. With supply chain shortages, it's extra frustrating, I'd rather make the selection myself of a substitute item or not add it rather than get text after text and calls from my store telling me they are out of a product I ordered. It makes it where I have to be on my phone waiting to respond to their questions and the whole point was to have them grab everything for me.
I absolutely love giant eagle. Get the app and save even more. They have some of the best deals and coupons. I like the online shopping and pick up or delivery. I get a personal shopper who keeps in constant contact to make sure I get exactly what I ordered and wanted. It's not like walmart or other places when ppl just throw stuff in. They actually take the time to look at products and ask if this is the one you want. It's like you're actually there.
I just want to look at the sale ad and make a shopping list. I have no intention of ordering from store. This is horrible. If you're going to list items, different flavors should be together, not hap hazard through the category, they are next to each other in the store! Put the ad and shopping list back on the old app. 2 ND time your new and improved sucks.
I love the app, but...when I type some product names, stuff totally unrelated comes up......I typed in 7 up, and paper towel came up. It's so annoying and causes the online ordering process to take forever. I feel like it takes me longer to order online than it does for me to go into the store, which really defeats the purpose. If this was fixed it would be great.
I love the app. It's indispensable to my weekly grocery trip. I use the shopping list as a checklist for what's missing from my fridge and pantry. AND, the functionality of the shopping list needs improved. Yes, the list can be rearranged, but it's cumbersome and often frustrating as the rearranged item will glitch and fall back to its starting point. It would be amazing to group items together (i.e. dairy, produce, frozen, etc) on a computer (a la Spotify) and have the app update.
This app is awful now, it's so frustrating to use. Signing in every time is seriously annoying. Worse yet, I live in between 3 stores so depending on where my errands are decides which store I will go to. If I start shopping in the app at 1 store then decide to switch to a different store, my entire cart disappears. If I had all the extra time it takes to keep entering my order I'd just go inside the store, but I don't so it might be time to start shopping somewhere else that has a better app.
This is the worst excuse for an app I've ever seen. There was no need to completely reinvent this app. All I need to do is look at the weekly ad, put items from it on my shopping list and add other items needed to the list. This app actually lists each color pepper, each flavor of hummus, etc. separately, AND NOT TOGETHER! Whose idea was this. Bring back the old app or I will just shop at Heinens.
Online ordering and pickup has changed my life. So much stress associated with shopping and dealing with other people or not knowing where something is. My normal shopping time would be anywhere from an hour to two hours. Pickup time is under 15 minutes. Seriously just crazy how convenient it is. And with having small trouble traveling with you this process is a game changer.
I've been using this for over 3 years with no issues... until recently. I can make my whole grocery order but when I go to pay the payment page is completely blank or if it does show for me to choose my credit card it won't allow me to enter the cvv. I've uninstalled & re-installed, signed out and back in, went to my settings and cleared the cache... nothing has worked. And no one seems to know how to help me.
