Works but incredibly annoying. Constantly running in the background and showing in notifications. It will randomly ding or vibrate to tell me it's running - I don't care, why are you telling me? I'm not using the app right now! Have to either force close or change notifications settings to block all notifications from it. Update the app and you're back to square one.
As of yesterday it's forcing me to have Chrome as my default browser or it fails to connect. On desktop it's opening two exactly same pages before finally connecting. If you decline opening the second page it just spins and never connects. The persistent notification is also a pain but not being able to use the app as I did two days ago is worse. Having to create an account in order to file a ticket is to me, just another way to get information. I would avoid this app until it's fixed.
1. Using Android 16+ One UI v8, Auth. doesn't use the default browser app, it uses Chrome and Chrome always attempts to use a security key which always not possible, Instead of offering the 2-step PW+ SMS option. and getting to that 2-step auth option requires unconventional steps. it's quite the hassle. 2. once a connection profile is setup changing the server region isn't possible, there is no menu of server regions available to select from. though that is possible using Windows DT app.
App no longer works after yesterday's update. about to be a company wide problem for Charter Spectrum
This is the worst VPN I've seen simply because it disconnects constantly throughout the day, like every hour. Edit: I would suggest some other VPN option other than this one. Uninstalled and will not be using it again. They haven't updated anything. It still disconnects constantly. Palo Alto = POS

Frustrating insistence on always running in the background. I have no need to use a VPN all the time, and yet this app has no option to quit. It even starts itself if I restart my phone! I need to force quit to stop it using memory/battery/sitting in notifications. Just stop this nonsense! (Otherwise though, it's very easy to use and works without issue.)
The worst experience, I intended to connect to my Campus wifi, and it said, "could not verify, and that I should contact my superiors",even my superiors said there is a problem with the app
unreliable connection! Drops randomly all the time. Bombarded with notifications that GP disconnected. I reconnect and it's a whole horde of additional notifications that connected, disconnected, connected, disconnected... literally multiple times daily
Numerous issues: 1. App automatically starts EVERY time I unlock my phone and repeatedly thereafter. Please add an option to enable/disable this behaviour. 2. With notifications enabled, it doesn't tell me when it's disconnected. 3. Doesn't play nicely with other VPNs. I only use this one for work. 4. In Windows 11 it uses Internet Explorer for web links.
Works well on a stable connection. Sometimes when my network changes (e.g. from WiFi to cellular) I have to refresh the connection manually which isn't great for non-techy users as the app doesn't even acknowledge a problem (similar to the Windows app but far more frequent on Android). Also, I despise the persistent notifications. Please sort this.
This VPN sometimes has difficulty connecting to the network. It often requires several connection attempts.
This app worked until the last update - since then, I can never get it to work. I know it's a certificate issue, but it's supposed to prompt me to continue anyway, but it doesn't, it just says error and cancels the connection. Edit: version 5.1.0 - still won't connect with message about invalid certificate, no option to override.
Mostly works exactly as you'd expect. One annoying issue, though - it starts every time my phone reboots, which is never what I want. The only way to close it is kill the app via system settings, otherwise it will continue to run in the background even when not connected to VPN. If they fixed that, it would be pretty much the ideal workplace VPN.
As many others have mentioned, issues for this Android VPN app are myriad and reiterated here: notifications, multiple failed attempts, app hangs and must be forced closed in Settings, app won't close or back out when not needed except by forced close under Settings, generally does not work reliably, stays on in the background if you forget about it, etc. Impressively bad app that my employer uses and requires (perhaps only required on our PCs). Never left a one-star app review before, FYI.....
The problem that everyone is having doesn't seem to be a priority for PaloAlto. I opened a support case, and the response I got, after no real troubleshooting on either my PaloAlto firewall or any of the Android phones that I support, was that the technician couldn't find any mention of this problem in any if the release notes, so we are done here.
AVOID IF POSSIBLE, most unreliable vpn I've ever used. crashes and disconnects constantly. if an error occurs then just shows a white screen and you cant even restart the app to fix it, you have to reboot the phone. also you cant change any settings, it always defaults to the worst option and you have to change it every time. what highschooler made this for their hackathon?
This VPN app does not work consistently. I have to uninstall and reinstall the VPN app in order to reconnect to my firm's network after the certificate expires. There is no way to refresh the connection. The app also constantly runs in the background, regardless of whether or not you are connected to a VPN. Overall, while the connection speed is great, the base functionality of a VPN app is deficient.
The year is 2023 and it STILL DOES NOT WORK with non-Chrome (e.g. Firefox: iFrame/cookies?) as standard browser. Because: The app fails to reconnect every month when the okta + duo login token times out and a new one is needed. After reauthorization, it'll show an error. Only way to fix that is to delete all local app data or reinstall. This is due to it expecting Chrome! Please fix it. Chrome is not the center of the universe, but a constant threat to the open web, and you're complicit!
Had a tough time downloading the app last night. Got it to work and got what I needed at the time. Tried to investigate what other faculty home software might be available and was told the app was installed, but I can't find it and can't access UD's software site. Tried to reinstall it but was told it was already installed. It starts with G but it's not under my "G" alphabet settings. Couldn't call it up, couldn't get it to show its pretty app face, so I gave up. Having a, "already installed, click here," would be lovely. Telling me it's installed and it not showing up in my apps, not helpful.
Really? Always running in the background when no VPN connection is required? I've noticed the super buggy Linux app does the same thing, and best of all, the firewall appliance at the other end doesn't support secure renegotiation, a 2009 vulnerability that causes a DoS with their own Linux app. According to KB articles, Palo Alto is aware and doesn't plan to do anything about it! I say this just to point out that issues go deeper than just the apps they create. The whole ecosystem is bad.
