Quite janky. It's not clear to me what the developers are trying to do with this. There's a significant gap between swing mechanics & outcome (the swing is two parts: down, for distance, then up for direction). The very worst part is the short game where it feels like I'm trying to throw a bowling ball threw a basketball hoop — there really is that much disconnect. Graphics are... retro, but that doesn't appear to be intentional. They really want you to buy the seriously overpriced gear.
I don't have experience with the standing arcade version, but the mobile version most definitely cheats if you show any skill whatsoever. No matter how well you compensate for wind, etc, the ball will suddenly veer at the last second. I'm guessing to prod you toward in-game purchases for mulligans and equipment upgrades. Decent for casual time killing, but avoid if you're looking for a serious golf simulator.
I've played alot of other golf games, this one is by far the best. And let me explain why. The accuracy of your shot is based on your back draw and forward swing. Not on some pin point target and a pendulum swing. It's based on the sweeping motion of your finger. You will never get ten "Holes in One" all in a row in this game. This is about as close to playing real golf as can be accomplished on a mobile device as you can get. No annoying pop up ads. And the diversity of playing options.
Contests take too long to finish, should a player decide not to complete. Also, better notice that one is over, and you've won/lost. The balls are a one shot only, rather than used for entire hole, and too expensive to purchase with gold. They can be earned at a snails pace. I will not pay to play this game. I spend enough playing online 3 times a week on the real version
I don't like giving 5 stars but I doubt you're going to find anything more realistic, for the price anyway. They considered all the possibilities writing this one. Okay I don't golf but this really does emulate the game better than what I've found. Graphics are Great. Control is precise including Wind, distance & slope. Plenty of activities to choose from. Heck, I dunno, check it out. If you don't think it's worth the time you can toss it like I did the other ones.
Really enjoyed the game until... Like many of these games, you reach a point of having to pay to progress. This game gave me many hours of enjoyment. But sadly, even after shooting -6 under par for 9 holes and tying for 2nd place in the tournament, my prize was 2 bronze tees (the lowest of the tee upgrades). It was fun while it lasted, about 2 months. It's just not rewarding anymore.
It's ok. While I like that there are several game modes and I'm not required to play other people, but the course layouts will drive you nuts. The physics are also terrible and unpredictable. Not only are some holes unrealistic and unlike any course you'd ever see in real life...and I don't mean because you can hit the ball into molten lava...the greens can be brutal. Things go quickly at first, you can level up and what not, but then it slows down and you can't hardly progress.
I would like this game a lot if it wasn't pay to play/win. How pay to play/win is it? I started off with the training levels, figure to learn how the game plays. Only into the intermediate levels you need to use special balls and tees, which cost money. I decided then to try the campaign. Got to the intermediate levels of the first course and again you need to pay to get clubs, tees, balls to get 3 stars on every hole. The hole that got me to delete the app, you need -1 and 180 pts. I landed on the green within 5' and get the -1 but not the 180 pts. The only way I can see getting the points is a hole in one using tees, clubs and balls. This is only on the second level of the course, 2 away from the Pro level. Here I thought this was going to be the a pay to play/win golf game that could be played with no or little money, in the play store. I just want to play golf on my phone even if, gasp! I want to pay for the app. Sick of these companies creating atm apps and people for falling for it....
Great game......But, be prepared to spend 💰!!! Otherwise, success is limited. You spend a lot of time playing to get minimal clubs, balls, and other necessary equipment needed. It is truly entertaining and game play is excellent, but it is designed to require spending actual money for advancement within the game. I've played it for a few weeks, advanced quickly, but that slowed dramatically, as game play requires better equipment, which you can't obtain without spending money! Uninstalled
This game could be good, but it falls far short of expectations based on the arcade game. 1. over half your time playing will be spent on loading screens, exiting screens, and loot box screens. 2. Am I missing something or can you not turn your body? If you're stuck behind a tree, you can't do anything about it. 3. For a game that requires a lot of up-and-down swiping, why NOT allow for portrait orientation play. Widescreen offers nothing. 4. Beware the pay to win in multiplayer events.
Loving the game!!! It's perfect..... Almost. I wish there were more options to buy packs. Silver for upgrading clubs takes a long time and I would like to buy that if possible. The starter pack was amazing, maybe a scaled back version of that available once per week or so. Also, backspin is free in the arcade game, I believe you will get much more competitive matches, when match play comes out, if backspins were free. Two minor issues, good job incredible!!
The game itself is pretty good. The feel of shots, especially putting, is kind of stuff and robotic. 3 stars because it's geared so heavily toward microtransactions. Playing a hold is quick, then it's a slog of clicking thru offers to spend money on upgrades, which slows the pace to a crawl. I'd rather just buy the game for $5 or whatever, and play my way into upgrades without the constant attempts to get you to spend money..
After playing multiple golf games, I like this one the best. Controls are easy to use. Good variety of game play options. Definitely gets more difficult as you level up. It will take some time to earn enough to level up your clubs, although you can always buy coins, balls, clubs, etc. I would definitely recommend this over any of the other "pay to win" golf games out there.
Great golf game that has ads but they are not intrusive. I also like the various challenges, head to head, and campaigns. The courses are challenging. I like how I can play fir hours if I want. I also like how I can pick my club regardless of my position on the course. It's very similar to real life in that you control your club choice.
Absolutely inconsistent game. Wind of 8 on one shot will make ball curve several feet one way, and next shot has zero effect. Distance ball goes per club changes every shot. Essentially, you're fighting an algorithm that designed to force you to lose. This makes you spend silver coins and gold bars, and eventually, you'll have no choice but to spend money if you want to play. Don't waste your time, you'll only be frustrated after playing this game for a couple of weeks.
Actually a pretty good rendition of the bar version of the game. Would be 5 stars if they add ability to play against friends. Edit: I am removing 1 star because of the disappointment with the multiplayer mode. All it is is me playing a round and my friend playing a round and then we compare scores. Not fun at all. Please make it like real golden tee so we are actually playing together.
This is one of the most challenging golf games I've played, n have played almost all of them. Graphics are good. Most golf games have a dial you have to hit for the power or angle. This gives you no time limit for setting up your shot n the amount of power you desire. I didn't download it for a long time, because I thought it was like the rest with all the crazy attire you can dress up in. If they made the greens a little more challenging like a grid, I'd give it a 5 🌟
I'm an old school Golden T player, I played on a machine in a bar for money. I gave this game a shot. It's a mess, ball control is almost impossible to manage, putting is very difficult, you make one little motion and you miss the putt, mostly to the left it seems. What were y'all smoking on some of these courses. It's very much pay to play for club upgrades and balls, which you will need. Eventually you'll spend more money for silver and gold so you can upgrade clubs and buy more balls.
I love the game but its expensive. Its almost impossible to compete once you get to intermediate level without spending big $ on equipment. Prepare to shell out as much or more than you would at the arcade for half the fun, competitive experience. I played for less than a month and unlocked the last level clubs, which cost about 1M silver. Gonna take years to earn the silver needed to upgrade since I'm also now competing with players who have them. Wanna buy em? np, about $300 will do it!
I'm going to say that my three stars goes directly to the game quality and it's play ability. It's a fun game, don't get me wrong. But the Golden Tee Corporation does not get those two extra stars because of how cheap they are in squeezing our money out of. For instance, when you buy a chest and you go for the multipliers, you always get the lowest multiplier possible. Look, you're a multi-billion-dollar company. Give back a little to people.
