I like the purpose and idea. The execution was an F+. First of all, when I want to add a device or see if I have any devices, it just shows the black and gray dots when it's loading the devices FOREVER. No matter how long I wait, it stays like that. Second of all, Guest Mode always responds with an error. So if you fix it, maybe I'll try it.
Awesome app! Very helpful, I'm very grateful for it. In fact... If I didn't have this app, my phones would be long gone.. Rip. Doesn't contain any ads from what I can tell, very pleasant and easy to use. Tells where all the devices are, their percentage, when they were last seen, and it has a custom thing for securing your device and making it say a certain message when someone finds it. Very reccomended for people who lose their phone a lot, like me.
Super easy. you log in, and all linked devices under your account are on a list, ya pick the one you lost, play a sound to find it, boom. Very helpful. Very fast.Didnt try the location aspect but that's always going to be approximate. Kind of useless if the device is off or if the battery dies, no one wants to be paranoid waiting hours or days for the device to come back on and be locatable, but does what I need for my clumsy around the house mishaps for devices.
This is definitely an app I always install when I get a new phone. I test it every once in awhile using my PC and my wife's phone to locate it. There have only been just a few times over quite a few years"Find My Phone" couldn't locate my phone right away. Eventually it always did. I like to have a backup option for things like this. My paid security suite covers our PCs, and has Android and IOS apps too.
This app has helped me several times. As long as you stay updated you'll be good. When I did end up needing to use the app, it was so simple and quick. If I had to make a recommendation, then I guess the only one I have is this: a good feature I would like to have also, is when we're given the option to wipe our data and lock our phones, if it could take a photo or even better a quick hand full of pics before locking the user out. Still I give this a very rare 5 stars. 👍
Google Find My Device far surpasses the other device locating apps and software I've used. Apple's 'Find My', the Tile tracker (and others), just can't compete. The locating tone is louder and more distinct, the tracking capabilities are more versatile and extremely accurate, you can install and use the app from other devices, and best of all - it's straightforward and easy to use. I've been a loyal iPhone user for as long as I can remember, but lately, Google's got me questioning my loyalty!
I know it's not the app, but idk where else to put this. I find it amazing that you can now track a phone while it's off. But in the case of Pixel buds pro, you can only track each ear piece. And only while they're outside of the case. Even at a full charge, if the headphones are in a case is closed, it's impossible to use this app to find them. Which I find an incredibly aggravating.
This is the easiest app to use for a lost device! I can remotely lock my device & put a message on the screen saying how to get in touch with me or I can remotely erase everything off the device, which is an awesome tool to me! As long as the device is on w/ mobile data or wifi than it shows you the last location, the date, time, etc of where your device was at last. And u can also have it make a noise in case it's right in your area & once you find it super easy to unlock & get back into your de!
My husband lost his phone & really thought it was somewhere in our house. I installed this app & it indicated that it was actually about an hour from our house, in the vacinity of where he had been earlier in the day. Find My Device didn't put us in exactly the right spot at first but after refreshing a couple times, we could see we were in the right spot. When we still couldn't find the phone, I used the "Play Sound" feature & there it was. Someone had thrown it in the garbage! Thank you!
Developers: will you please add the "Allow all the time" location permission to this program. Or at least allow the app to turn on GPS to get the location. For many reasons, I can't have my location enabled 100% of the time. In the several unfortunate circumstances when I've lost my phone(s), my location happened to be turned off. 1-star because this problem has been around since the app was created years ago. I will upgrade to 5-stars if they ever fix it, which is doubtful.
Thank goodness for this app! Was sure I lost my phone on the subway train. I didn't have this app installed, I just thought Google was somehow able to find it through GPS or something. It found nothing. At first I assumed it was because the phone was between stations and didn't have a signal at the moment. Finally, I realized I needed to install this app and hoped it would work when (and if) the phone came back online. I desperately kept refreshing my browser looking for an update, then BAM! The phone popped up on the map a few blocks away. I wasn't expecting that. the phone wasn't moving so I hoped that meant someone turned it in somewhere. I raced to that corner and started asking around. Sure enough someone turned it in at one of the stores I had been in. Turns out I didn't lose it in the subway after all but accidentally dropped in the ice cream freezer. What a relief!
Why not use the app to find your phone that was made by the people who made the operating system of your phone? I see so many third-party apps out there attempting to help you find your phone, and for me they have not been successful or require me to login on their app on another device that makes it impossible for me to find my lost phone. This is the only app I have found so far that gives you the ability to log into the website from any computer or any phone without a special app. Since this app is made by Google, it knows how to interface with Android and find your device when you have misplaced it or just secure it as soon as it finds a internet connection. And, if you're not sure it is misplaced in a safe location, using the device locking or erase device features from the website gives you the peace of mind that your sensitive data is not falling into the wrong hands.
After latest update, all my android devices have vanished from the device list. The screen shows no devices. I have used this for a long time as I am notorious for forgetting where I left my phone. Just opened it up on my tablet and all of my devices were missing. I eventually found my phone, and when I opened Find My Device, it initially listed all the devices, but then wiped out the list and it is now blank as well.
3 times the phone's location in complete error. If you have thgis problem once, it may be time to upgrade or troubleshoot. Best approach is to let the phone ring in all familiar possible locations. This it does - but after that it does not give a reliable location - off by as much as 10 miles but within the history of travel. May be certain phone types - as I see others have no problem, others have this exact problem - the wild goose chase effect. Two stars for being free and ringing the phone.
This app doesn't update the locations when you click the refresh. It will have devices (pixel earbuds, tracking tags) on and right beside my phone while the app is open and still won't update their locations. The locations can be days or even weeks without an update. I even updated my ear buds location on the Google find hub website which worked instantly, and this app still hasn't updated their location since 6/21, two days ago.
Ruined with update. FMD now opens Google maps in driving mode automatically. This is a change in behaviour and ruins it. Previously it opened with a map pin (which is often all you need to see where something is). Now you can't get a pin and worse it tries to drive there. There's no way to see where something is. Tracking through an airport I've had a huge delay while it tries and fails to plot a 6,000 mile drive. Same hiking.
It doesn’t work more often than it works. It constantly says “something went wrong” in the settings. Other phones can’t find one specific phone. That specific phone also can’t find itself. The battery level is shown, and you can trigger a sound, but it doesn’t appear on the map. Permissions, settings, and account- everything is set up correctly.
The map view shows the location of the device you're trying to find, but doesn't show a pin for your current location. If you're searching for a phone in a field or a ski slope, this is useless. Had to keep switching between this app and Google maps to work out where to search. Terrible for an app designed to find things. Also, it should be able to turn on Bluetooth on the lost device, and then use Bluetooth to get a "warmer... colder" range, not just listen for a ring. Disappointed.
The app is good to track location of your linked devices, mobile, laptop or even earbuds if they support Google connection. But sometimes the tracking system doesn't works as expected. Despite having internet, sometimes it doesn't track location of other devices and IDK why but for last 3 weeks my boat nirvana ion is showing offline, even when I am using it. Please fix the bugs. Thank you.
installed as I had purchased some tracking cards. they could not be found tried all the suggestions. then noted the app had ONLY found my phone (it was on it) and watch. no other devices could be found including ear pods which were connected and working. tried out the find my and says phone was ringing it wasn't, watch did eventually make a sound but took several goes. No ability to manually search. looks like a big fat lemon so far.
