Google Gemini

I'm still trying to get a feel for this one. But I can say one thing for certain, the layout and reliability of the software is not good. for one thing, why is it that gems don't compartmentalize chats within them? You're just left with a string of random chats or Google Home commands. But the real problem is, it is so slow in thinking mode. sometimes a one sentence question takes minutes at a time. And a significant amount of time, it just errors out and you lose the message you just sent it.

There is way too much lag! it's not exactly seamless if it lags for a solid 30 seconds every time I come back to the app. Also when I try to use the mic within the app, it clears the entire conversation. the "compatibility" with Bluetooth is a joke, constantly missing words, the voice doesn't play right away cutting off the first words & the ai voice audio quality is inconsistent too. It's impossible to use if you want to leave your phone in your pocket, I constantly have to take my phone out.

Repeatedly says something went wrong. Tried everything and it won't generate a thing. Will be canceling subscription. I found out it will kick people out of the server at random if you hit a "fake" set limit. They usually won't let you generate for an hour or so but tonight it's been close to 3 hours. Paying $20 a month to be "limited" based on what the servers could handle. I don't recommend at all!

The app itself is glitching lately; it's been skipping to a new chat and forgetting everything. Sometimes I can tell it to remember what we were just talking about, and it will get back to the subject. Other times, the chat is completely gone, and there is no memory of the chat left in the list. Reaction times have gone from normal response times to wondering if my phone is frozen in the last few weeks. There are times I almost reached a conclusion, but I can't get any further due to glitches.

It's a coin toss to see if your requests are even acknowledged, let alone followed through on. Ever since I've switched from Assistant to Gemini, I've had days where I need to actually yell at my phone to get it to recognize a command, and then it's constantly forgetting alarms I've set, so I can't rely on it for cooking or anything else like that. This is an actually less-than-useless app for anyone who isn't trying to integrate their entire life into the Google ecosystem. Absolute garbage.

Edited Review: It's getting a lot better, but still leaves a lot to be desired. The unnecessary censorship is annoying, to say the least. Sometimes derailing an entire conversation or request over an "out of the blue" misunderstanding on its end. Advanced should also be a separate subscription for those that don't care for the extra cloud storage

Switched to Gemini a few months ago. Not really impressed. Mainly use it for tasks, calling, texts, etc. Sometimes it works sometimes not. Takes too long to complete the request if at all. Many times it just stops midway through. I plan to try a couple more months hoping it is still learning my voice and use pattern if not I will switch back to my previous assistant.

Can't recognize songs playing in the environment. It used to be able to. Now it can't. Google Assistant can recognize songs playing in the environment, but Android is trying to force Gemini on me. Also, when I hold the center button, Gemini pops up but does not have the microphone automatically on. I have to click the microphone button. Google Assistant does not have these problems.

Changes voice tone often, even when I select a specific one. Will even do so mid-conversation. Often cuts me off while I'm speaking, even if I'm speaking loudly and directly into the receiver. Will give wrong information about half of the time and tries to gaslight you into believing it's the correct information. Thinks that it's the year 2024 a majority of the time. Giving 3 stars, though, for all of the times that it IS helpful. Really love the camera feature!

If I could give a 0 I would, but the only thing that may possibly be saving it and it's on the verge of not saving it is one of the models other than that, this app is the most terrible app I have ever dealt with in my whole entire life, the programs do not perform. Any instruction that you give them? And if they do, perform or try to execute it. Everything is always inaccurate. I even papaid for a subscription at one point and it seemed as if everything got worse , get no results very condesce

When it works it's great. But every other day it just stops loading responses and I don't know how to fix it. It happens literally two or three times a week where I try to send a message and it just loads and loads and loads and then it tells me that 'Gemini makes mistakes you should always double check' but it doesn't send anything back. it's just an error message.

I appreciate Gemini as a tool when I want or need to use it. However, its utility isn't worth the intrusiveness. It pops up everywhere, which is distracting. I also don't need (or want) it to read & summarize my emails - most of the summaries are longer than the messages - or anything else, for that matter. Tools, I need. A time-wasting, intrusive, busybody app, not so much. I'd uninstall it if I could.

Something went wrong. I've tried Uninstalling and reinstalling, I've restarted my phone multiple times. Works fine on my PC. I have seen people say it's potentially a usage issue, but I never use it! I just wanted to set a timer and it's worthless. Edit: I had to completely remove my Google account from my phone and re-add it to get Gemini to work again. This is the kind of stuff that makes people switch platforms. Really annoying.

I have used this app for 5 months and it is great. The reason I'm giving it 1⭐ is because even as a pro member, there is a limit. Even more so is because for the last 4 days, I haven't reached my limit, but it continues to tell me I have and cuts me off for 24 hours. Today I did 5 photo edits in 10 hours and it said my limit has been reached and I can't do anymore using pro. I've been in touch with their "support" team 2x but they say there's nothing they can do. I think I'm done with Gemini. 😕

It is not very detailed to begin with. for instance, news briefs and community events information begins so vague it could be better delivered by a 5 year old who heard something on the radio yesterday. This whole platform needs to be led by a leash to what you're specifically looking for. It is also a bit frustrating it cannot activate 3rd party apps on the device, so unless you've decided to buy into Google owned products and apps, it's really nothing more than a voice on your device.

short version,started great continued great,designed a clothing brand. really 🔥 hot. I mean soooo exciting. came up with graphics, story, characters for shirts, then the glitches.Constantly losing code. moving things in pictures. eliminating key elements from the Art. Finally got things right except 1 last significant detail to be fixed, and nada... no more graphics would come, just excuses. I kept calling Gemini on the game it was playing. finally admitted I would not receive that last image.

So many glitches and errors it is difficult to use. It can't even provide something as simple as a weather report. Also constantly changing your allotment from three videos a day down to one or none if they are busy and images from 1000 a day down to 10 because of high demand. The AI will even admit it lied to you when it didn't have the information and just made something up. Has to be a better option out there.

App tells me I can switch to other tasks while it does research in the background, but when I receive a notification that the report is ready and I switch back, it says "something went wrong" and the entire session, query and report, are lost and irretrievable. If I don't switch out of the app the session is maintained but that means I can't use my phone for anything else for an indeterminate amount of time. I'd have been better off using the web interface. This app is USELESS.

The Gemini Pro AI itself is phenomenal. It has massive context windows, integrates easily with Google Drive, and is terse, tight, and accurate. The app is an absolute steaming pile of garbage. The voice input cuts off after 500 milliseconds, so it's impossible to do any kind of long-form typing or really even get through a sentence with the voice input. It doesn't integrate at all with Android Auto and will use a low volume level that locks out the volume buttons on the phone and the stereo head

The worst app ever. It completely ignores your requests when you ask for photos. I've requested generating photos for over twenty times and it still couldn't get any of them right. Even though I said which parts it did wrong, it just kept saying "I understand" and sent me the exact trash again. Once I tried to be super clear by explaining what I wanted in 15 lines! And yet it happened again. I finally gave up and deleted it. Best decision ever
