While I like it to remind me to relax, it is sloooooooow. It takes forever to load initially and as you switch between the screens it takes even longer to load. I have to constantly close out of the app and go back in just to get the main page to load. When I'm frustrated, stressed or overwhelmed, have the app take so long to load to get to the exercises is NOT helpful. It defeats the purpose.
I really like this app/subscription (especially the sleep-scapes). However, lately it's been really buggy; having difficulty opening, crashing often, features like being able to skip the beginning of recordings aren't working. It's frustrating to pay for a service that has prolonged periods of downtime.
I have been meditating for years and I was excited when my employer included this as a benefit. That excitement ended quickly once I started using the app. It's a very busy app and feels very Sesame Street to me. I was having trouble sleeping and I remembered that I could use this app for free. I wanted to see what teachers they used w/o success. I clicked on 1 that sounded like an AI voice (ugh). If you are new to meditation, this is great. If you aren't, go elsewhere. (Insight timer)
This app is great for the meditation guidance. I like that you can choose your teacher, and how long or short your practice will be. But, the push to try therapy through Headspace gets annoying, especially when you already HAVE a therapist (not to mention that therapists who contract with apps are very often underpaid). I'd love a way to disable those features.
In the past I found this app really helped with my inability to fall asleep. I recently subscribed and rather than helping me fall asleep, the app is adding to my frustration because it frequently crashes. Last night I tried 4 times to listen to a sleep cast and each time the app crashed about 5 to 10 minutes in. Disappointing because when it works, the app is really helpful.
I've been a subscriber for 5+ years & for most of those years, the app was great. With the introduction of therapy & AI add-ons, the app gets incrementally worse. Now, the sessions just stop after a few mins with a connection error (which I know isn't on my end). I've been enduring the changes, hoping that each blip will be corrected for a better product in the long-term. It seems, however, it may be time to cancel my sub & seek a better service. It appears from other reviews, I'm not alone...
My daughter loves this app and uses it every night to fall asleep, but BEWARE! Last month, the app used over 5GB of data in one evening, even though we keep our mobile data setting turned off. we subscribe to data on that device since it is always connected to wifi, so it resulted in $60 of extra charges! A quick search revealed that Leads pace can suffer glitches which result in excessive amounts of data being used in the background. if you use this app, make sure you don't have data limits.
Not so Free Trial. I attempted to sign up for a free trial, but it glitched and ended up skipping the free trial, locking in my payment for the year. I have reached out to customer service twice, explaining what happened and that I had the app less than 36 hours, so I would have been well within my free trial period. They just keep saying all sales are final. Reading what other people have said suggests this is not uncommon occurrence. They put money and rigid rules above people and compassion
Not the same app! I've used this app for 3 years through my employee subscription without any issues. I recently switched to a individual subscription and have had issues with the app crashing after 2 minutes of using it. This happens everyday when I attempt to use the meditation feature. I'm paying for an app that I can't even use for longer than a few minutes. I'm really disappointed and hope it can be resolved!
I typically use the sleep portion of the app. I love the sleep casts and the sleep sounds. What I don't love is the app crashing every time I open it, or stopping playback less than 2 minutes into anything I play. I am connected to wifi, it shouldn't be disconnecting all the time. It really pulls me from drifting off to have whatever I'm playing abruptly stop.
Ever since they overhauled this app last year it's been useless. It takes forever to load, assuming it ever does, and it frequently informs me I'm offline even though I'm not. I start sessions and talking stops a minute in with an "oops something went wrong." Yes what went wrong is your coders. You need a new development team or better yet toss out this new version and go back to the old one. It worked fine. BTW I'm a 10 year lifetime member so I've seen all the transformations.
I've used headspace for several years. in the last single year it has become the most error ridden sad excuse of an app. it's almost ironic. I've done all of the possible troubleshooting and the app insists I have no connection. It stops in the middle of a meditation saying it lost service. you don't know this until you open your eyes to look at the app. Opening the app used to take 2-3 seconds. now it takes 20-30 and that's if it even loads! I even pre-download meditations and it STILL errors.
I have the paid version through work. I'm trying to reach a therapist, but I'm told to wait for an email. An email says to book a session, but it just opens the app saying to wait for an email... I was talking to a "coach" originally and now I can't even message them. it's been a whole week... Finally on Android swipe texting is disabled in the app. During intake I was asked for info but I had to manually type it. This app feels clunky, almost like they don't want anyone reaching a therapist.
6 days in, I already feel a difference with my focus and overall understanding of mindfulness & wellbeing. **I'm 102 days in & updating my review. I took away 2 stars. The app consistently freezes in the middle of a meditation. I have to restart it once or twice to get through it. The biggest issue was having 2 different coaches cancel on me the same day of the appointment, just 3 weeks apart of each other. Don't really want to book again. I was a big advocate for this app with co-workers.
Thought this would be a nice alternative to Calm when my employer included this in our benefits, but the UI is much worse and, most importantly, when I try to do a meditation, it stops after a minute (if that) and says I am offline when I know I am not. Skimmed some reviews and others seem to have the same issue, which makes the app useless. I have used free and paid versions of Calm off and on for years and never had this issue.
I downloaded this specifically for the various meditation options. The content is great, but I can't ever seem to get through an entire session without the app stopping. As soon as my phone locks, the playback stops. When I unlock my phone, an error message says "Something went wrong" or "you're now offline" and the only way I clear the errors is to close and reopen the app. no matter what, playback stops. Very frustrating. I considered subscribing but will not if these issues persist.
I've used headspace for years, but over the past few/several months it has become quite glitchy. Takes a long time for things to load and very often I get an error part way through a meditation. I've made sure I have the most current version and was being patient thinking maybe a fix was coming, but now I am about to cancel my subscription and delete the app due to the issues which seem to be increasing.
The content has been great, but I had to cancel the subscription. The app constantly says, "you are offline." Whenever it worked, I put the content offline, but then when I come back the next day, the voice is completely different from the one I was using. I'm a tech guy; I come here to relax, not to troubleshoot tech issues. I found this horrible and I ended up being more stressed than before using the app.
Love the sleep casts and the Ebb chat. However it repeatedly stops playing the sleepcasts saying "oh dear, something's wrong. Random nights. My wifi connection is fine. I close the app and reopen with the same issue a few times and give up. Then next night, no problem, then two nights later happens again. So insanely frustrating.
Edit: Despite having a paid plan to Headspace, I have uninstalled the app. In the past year, it has caused me more frustration than peace. It is slow to start up. Often the meditations don't load at all, and it's more difficult to find the meditations I've downloaded. Previously: 5 stars. Lovely meditation app. I have had a subscription to headspace the past few years, and the experience just keeps getting better. I love all the different courses, and it's a great reminder to pause and focus.
