Terrible app. No continue watching for next episodes, so you have to remember which episode and which shows you watched and then hunt for them. Does not save progress, none of the episodes show an already watched label or progress bar, so if I can't recall the last episode from an episode title, not the show title, I have to open each episode to determine if I already watched it. Watchlist is hidden under the settings menu. I won't resubscribe if they can't fix the minimum expected functions.

Great selection of anime titles. Probably the worst streaming platform I've ever used. Doesn't save your progress, you just gotta remember. Also, finding series you've started watching is nearly impossible unless you remember the name of it. If it wasn't for the selection of unique anime available on this platform, I'd cancel it today.

The selection isn't bad but, boy, they don't want you to be able to find or watch anything. The search results turn up individual episodes as well as the full series, in no particular order. It's like trying to pull what you want from a Scrabble bag. The UI is... okay once you learn it, but the biggest knock is that you have to go in and manually select the next episode of whatever you happen to be watching. There's no real auto play function or indication as to what you've already watched.

Like many users have said the content on the app is good, the way it is presented is terrible. You need to go to any major streaming platforms app and just see how they do it and copy it. Continue watching doesn't put you back into the series just the single episode you were watching, searching is terrible, saving shows is terrible, watch history is terrible, even the dubs mess up and will show over each other making it impossible to read on longer sentences.

Terrible interface. Has very little in user friendliness. Keeps locking me out of my account. And has had very little updated about it in the last year to make it any better. Update 12/16/25 nothing has been changed and if you lapse on your payment it locks you out and can no longer access media and have to make a new account and pay for another subscription just to get it to work again. no care to fix any issue now or then.

I had an idea what I was in for having read several blog reviews online, but wow.. their app format is honestly worse than most anime pirating websites. Their streamer app is literally a dead project, watch lists are hidden behind settings menus, some of the "new anime" is 15 years old, and theres no way to even see all their anime, they just push the same handful of titles. Add to that, there isnt a single NEW anime in their release schedule for the next three months... Just reheated dubs

I have been a user on HiDive for a few years now and I think the app has come a long way. The subtitles are no longer crunching in together, I'm no longer having to go through a series alone to find where I left off of, and I don't have to search what I was watching to find my place in that series. Also, there is a continue watch feature in the app and it let's you go to the whole series you're watching.

I give up. App on Roku (not roku channel just the app) is worthless. I do not like having to mess with my remote for every episode. I prefer to watch a show from where I left off. Any so many other things others have mentioned. I love the shows. I hate the app. Unsubscribing and finding a different way to watch my anime (that I watch on Hidive. Buy the DVDs if I have to). Won't let me post 0 stars. Feb. 22, 2026. app on device and roku still terrible. good thing they offered a 7 day trial.

the app on the phone and roku are garbage. history does not keep up with what you watch you add more than twelve items to a watch list you cannot see them.and continuing where you left off is a major hassle.only keep this subscription for three animes that I like. do not bring in many new titles. they do not upgrade their system, but they upgrade the payment. you would think because they do not spend much on good anime they can hire an It person who knows what they're doing. but no-- too cheep.

This app is horrible. Between the constant buffering, not loading, or stopping mid show just to say a show isn't available, The user experience sucks. I don't know how you guys as a company keep getting some of the best animes, Just to have a mediocre app to watch it on. And don't even get me started on the TV application, that does even show content, just a black screen.

I think overall the app is decent but it has some drawbacks. The UI definitely needs a major update, and the app could stand to gain more features to make the user experience more enjoyable (ex. skipping intros, recommendations,etc.). With that being said though, for 6.99 a month I think it's a good price for the selection of shows and exclusives that you're getting (which includes free downloads). Personally, wouldn't pay for HIDIVE after you've finished their exclusives though.

HiDive has a lot of good shows, but their navigation interface is terrible. I watch using the app on an Xbox console and navigating the site is horrendous. some movements can be made using the arrow pad and others require the directional knobs. The settings also leave a lot to be desired. In order to change settings in my profile I have to use my phone because none of the controls respond on my controller. When it comes to site navigation Hidive has a long way to go to catch up with Crunchyroll.

Get an extra star for the selection of shows. But just overall awful ux. Fire anyone who thought these design choices were good. Saving progress inconsistent. If you watch on another device it doesn't save at all. You select recently watched it doesn't list the episodes. Searching for a show doesn't work somehow get individual episodes then can't see other episodes. I don't usually leave reviews but I'm so annoyed with this app I have to. There is probably more I can't think of right now.

I love anime but why on earth did they make the subtitle color yellow? Half the time I can make out what the text is displaying. I found a post from a year ago about this issue and in one year (or more) an option for text color hasn't been implemented. ridiculous. Here are some good things, the selection is great and not completely filled with generic isekai like some other apps. You can add specific episodes to your lists. It is difficult to get to the episode list though.

its not bad but definitely not great nothing is really categorized and when you download videos it doesn't save what you watched so you have to remember where you left off also when you download shows it throws them all together so you have to search for what you were watching this app definitely has potential but needs more work. fix those issues, and things will be better and worth the 7.99$ a month.

This app is very buggy and not user-friendly. Watching episodes it will randomly stop and start over. Lost connections all the time even while on WiFi. The watch list will show duplicates and not load correctly. Consistently logged out, errors while watching shows, and searching for anything brings up episodes and not the series. Great list of shows to watch, but the application is the worst and needs a major update.

If I could rate lower I would. They charged me for a subscription, but won't let me watch anything. when I pull something up, it just says subscribe. I refreshed, I uninstalled and reinstalled, I tried the website. it just says subscribe whenever I go to watch something, despite the fact that they just took the money out of my account for the subscription. It's not like there's tiers to the subscriptions either. it's just monthly or yearly.

If the quality of this app determined the price of the subscription, it would be about $1.99 a year. The selection of anime is ok at best and is worth the price for a month at most. It only gibes you the option to continue watching episode you stopped watching probably because you weren't interested in the series. there isn't enough space for me to comment all the problems here either. My advice is don't use this app unless it's to download a series or movie to watch elsewhere

Catalogue is great. Unfortunately, the app itself is terrible. Barely any of the functionality that's expected in a streaming app, and what's there never seems to work right. Can't remember where I am in a show correctly, always picks the wrong language subs, subs are awful colors, casting to a TV/chromecast never seems to work, timing issues with video/audio; the list goes on. If there is a way the app can fail, it will find it. The shows are great. I wish I could watch them without this app.

Probably the best most distinct collection of anime to stream outside of Crunchyroll, and a great deal if you pay by the year. The only downside is that the app itself is trash — navigation is clumsy, subtitles overlap so you can't read them, settings are wonky and limited, and you can only fast forward or rewind in 30 second intervals. The app is minimally functional, but that's about all I can say for it. Still worth it for the selection of anime.
