Dont recommend interviews like this for people like me who dont like being recorded. It was much more stressful than in-person. Maybe it could be better with practice but not w the time limit I had. It was hard to get the lighting right in my situation. Also I couldnt check the question again after recording to see if I forgot something or just to double check. Because of the downsides & nature of this type of interview, I kept answers brief, & kept in mind there should be a real interview.

Uncomfortable, terrible, awkward experience. I'd much rather look a real person in the eye face to face instead of this forced recording, webcam stuff where I hate the sound of my voice. Terrible. Just another sign of this era becoming too digital, facetime, snapchat reliant. I'd rather just not have the job at all if this is the only way to interview.

This app is a nightmare to work with via cell phone and desktop. It doesn't recognize that the microphone and camera allows access on desktop and THEN it says that it works with Chrome, which it doesn't. I spent 3+ hours playing with settings on my desktop until I finally switched to my phone (which is so idiotic because it would look much better with a computer). QUITE frankly, I don't even want to do the interview anymore-- and I haven't even gotten there yet.

The interview process is already off-putting when you are speaking alone to a camera. The questions are timed which adds stress. You're supposed to be allowed 2 attempts per question in case you mess up. The very 1st question I misspoke and decided to use my second attempt, but the recording cut off abrubtly before I finished. Then it moved to the second question with no option to backtrack, so I didn't actually get to use my 2nd attempt. The videos wouldn't upload until I force-stopped the app.

This ridiculous company has destroyed so many people's chances of getting employed. The worst possible system to attempt to use, not friendly at all. It requires people to have the newest tech, with the latest version updates, in other words, you must be rich to attempt to use it. Online instruction is extremely difficult to understand. Nothing is straightforward. 1 click leads to 40 possible pointless clicks with more questions than answers. I hope companies learn how bad it is, and stop using.

the camera/call quality was fine, but I had to be so awkwardly close to the camera just to hear what the interviewer was saying. My phone was on maximum volume.

Very bad way of doing an interview. The benefit of pre-recording an interview is that you can retake it as many times as you need. You get a single retake using this app, defeating the purpose entirely. This app makes the interview process more stressful and less candidate friendly, avoid at all costs. I had the option to do a traditional interview and seriously regret not taking it.

AWFUL. CRASHED DURING INTERVIEW. Sterile and non-personal. Tech support closed the ticket as soon as it was sent, without an opportunity to give them more details etc. Their "fix" did not fix. I may have lost an opportunity for which Im already well-qualified. DONT USE THE APP.

No brightness settings to improve the image. And just generally a terrible way to interview people who aren't actors - most people cannot look at a screen and produce a good answer to a question without writing a full script. In addition it robs interviewees of the chance to ask questions themselves and get a feeling for the company. Automation is generally good, but not for interviews.

The tech itself works fine, but the process is cold and off-putting. First of all, asking candidates, especially those with long and/or varied careers, to answer broad, open-ended questions in three minutes or less is ridiculous. In some cases, it'd take me longer than three minutes to explain the scenario. Secondly, the camera offers zero feedback. A person, either in-person or on the phone, will give cues as to whether you need to explain something further, or back up and start over. The app requires you to trust your own judgment. Finally, as others have stated, this has the potential to favor the better actor/performer than the most qualified candidate. If you want someone who can write a script and read it in an engaging way, get on YouTube. The rest of us are busy doing real work.

Horrible experience. Companies need to stop using methods like these and just do in person interviews. app continuously saying its being interrupted while recording and sending recordings when im not even done talking. hate this app and the experience Ive been forced to go thru.

I had an interview with an airline that I really wanted to interview for and this app failed me :( the audio stopped working and I could not hear my interviewer but they could hear me. So I have to reschedule my interview and hopefully they will allow this. Hirevue please fix the bugs in your app because I did everything that was required according to your tips for the app to work correctly.

The main reason that I did not like the video interview experience is because I feel like I dont connect to the company I'm applying for. I feel like I'm talking to a wall. I do not get to ask questions at the end which is very important. It's not a real interview experience. HireVue is like if you went into a real interview but the other person listened to you from behind a full sized mirror. No that is not realistic.

A few bugs need to be fixed. First, for me, the prep timer only counted down, it never brought up the tab for me to record my responses. I was always stuck between being confused and wondering if my response was being recorded or not. Basically, a lot of improvement needs to be done...it should be more "job-applicant friendly".

If you are operating from mobile or pc, Hirevue burns data so quickly. Within 10 minutes my 3 GB data eaten up by this app and had to postpone interview. Requesting maintainers of this app to kindly work on low data usage but with quality. Mostly people are working from home nowdays and if internet facility goes down have to switch to mobile data. Please consider this point and work on implementation of it if you want to be competitive.

Very easy to use, very convenient! I love the fact that i didnt have to install any extra software on my PC, or anything krazy like that. I just downloaded the app to my Android device, and did the interview. I was given plenty of time after reading the question to think of my answer. And also given an opportunity to re-record my answer if i wasn't happy with the first one. Also, I was able to review my entire answer before having to decide on whether or not to do it again. Overall, Awesome App!

Avoid this app. Currently, there are a lot of bugs (See user reviews for March - April 2020). I had a video call interview. I’ve decided to use the mobile application (camera is better than on the laptop), it refused to allow input and output sound through the headset. The Web application kept stating sound was not playing through my headset and refused entry to the interview room. The interviewers stated they had difficulties connecting too. The video call consistently had dropouts.

When you a aply for a job. Obviously the environment will be different from than another, even with the same type of job. If you make an interview HireVue will use that same interview you made and keep using it even if it has no relevance to the setting that the job your applying for takes place in. Same job type doesnt mean same setting and procedures. The standards vary. And theres no way to change it. If you contact hireview by phone they will just apologize. Not helpful.

This app told me it would need access to my camera and microphone in order to conduct my job interview. After making sure everything is turned on, I am still being denied access to the job interview. I am still being told to try again. I have never had problems up until now. Earlier I was given the choice to block or allow access to my mic and camera. It didn't matter how many times I tapped on "allow", nothing happened. The screen kept freezing on me.

The app is pretty straightforward, but I'm still not impressed by it. Also, all this hire via recorded interviews is impersonal, uncomfortable, awkward, and not right. Employers should take the time to sit down with you. Even if it's via video call or phone call. They should talk to you to make sure you will be a good asset to the company and to make sure that you feel it would be a company to work for.
