Don't waste your time with this app. There are so many ads, it takes forever to get through ONE episode. I wasted my time, thinking I could catch up on Alone episodes. I've never streamed anything with this many ads. I haven't timed it, but it seems like 5 min of the show, 7 min of ads. Worse than regular tv!!! Luckily I found out that I can stream Alone on Hulu. Just finished a couple episodes there, and there is like ONE short commercial every 15 min or so. Yay! Saved by Hulu!!
The experience with streaming shows on the app is pretty bad. First, there is no option to be ad free. Second, there are SO MANY ads. Third, the ads often cause the show to have the audio out of sync, and the only way to fix the audio is to exit the show and resume. Then, many times, you have to watch 7 or 8 ads again. 16 ads end up being just way too many! It's just too much hassle to continue using this app!!
That app is awesome as a whole. Full episodes that my on demand doesn't carry let's me watch episodes I normally couldn't without having to pay for them. The reason I give this 3 stars is because they haven't added casting abilities while watching episodes. This means that you can only watch on your phone. (Why would you limit your potential?) Lastly are the ads. They are slow to load and often play back to back same ads. For this I felt the developers earned a 3 star rating.
Worst streaming app I've ever used. I decided this after watching an Xfinity commercial for the 7th time (seriously 7) in a row, in a single commercial break. It also doesn't say how many ads or how much ad time is left. If also doesn't remember settings correctly, example I have to turn on closed captioning every time I use the app. Last but not least, it doesn't accurately remember where I stopped watching, so I have to watch commercial breaks over again, consistently.
The app is great in terns of content! But, there are just TOO MANY ads!!! I will be watching a 30 minute show but will see there are 4-5 commercial breaks that usually last over 2-3 minutes and it's the same ads over and over. Heck, I'll see the same add twice in one commercial break run. It's tedious, obnoxious, and serious discourages me from continuing watching shows that i like because I don't wanna sit through all the same ads.
I think id prefer just watching on my tv. There are way too many commercials. I understand they are needed, but the same ones over and over and over are annoying. Also the commercials freeze a second in, stay frozen, then goes to black screen for another minute, only for the same thing to happen again. If I want to watch commercials I can just watch on cable. Or i can wait an extra day and just wait for it to uploaded to YouTube and watch for free with zero commercials.
If you like an app that boots you out of your video 15x during a 42-min documentary with a "Something went wrong" msg--then, when you go back into the video, subjects you to the same 2 trulicity ads you just had to sit through a minute before at an actual commercial break, plus the same other 3 ads, before you're allowed to resume viewing, this app is for you. 3 *s for allowing me to watch some eps of a few shows without going back to cable.
This app is an exercise in frustration. Tried to watch Season 9 of Alone on it, and the ads constantly lockup, and then you can't pause, stop, rewind, or do anything. Even exiting and starting over doesn't always work. Then, when you do finally get back in you find it just kept running, and you have to go back and figure out where you were. Found out I could watch on Hulu, switched to it, and works flawless. History app is garbage. Will be uninstalling it, what a waste of time.
Occasional hiccups in the ads and casting functions keep this from bring perfect. Playing the same ad five times in a row is irritating. Having the app crash while trying to cast is annoying. But it doesn't happen often. Other than that, the only other concern is the inability to watch an episode over again. The app plays all the ads associated with the episode, then goes back to the menu instead of playing the episode. Work it out guys!
Worst app of all time. It crashes constantly and isn't capable of resuming an episode where I left off. The interactive ad option is garbage. I select that option and it crashes. Then there is the commercials I have to watch. Sometimes it shows the same commercial five times in a row. Annoying as hell! There should be a commercial free option. This app sucks!
Enjoy the app... The adds really frustrating though. They are always the same ones over and over for the entire show, which is maddening. I also don't like that the adds glitch alot, and don't give you the option to click back to the show, which means you have to go back to the home screen, pick the show and start it again, and it always starts from the beginning, so you have to fast forward to where you left off, and it immediately makes you watch more ads.
EXTREMELY buggy and not worth the hassle. Usually you can watch about 3 minutes of a show before you receive an error message saying "something went wrong" and the app redirecting you to the home screen. Once you try replaying your show from the recent viewing point, be prepared for a few minutes of ads. Rinse and repeat. Additionally, casting does not work because the ads freeze your app and your TV. I've un-installed & re-installed but the same bugs keep appearing. Not worth your time
The video player doesn't actually have a full-screen option, it just keeps the android phone navigation menu on the screen the entire time on the right hand side, with no way to remove it. Netflix, Amazon, HBO, none of them do this. I'd dump Netflix just to be able to watch pickers, pawn stars, and ice road truckers, so please just fix your app, hire some decent developers, and offer a subscription already. You guys are behind on the streaming game.
I love that I can watch shows on here for free, but the add time is starting to get ridiculous. There were six or seven commercial breaks in a 42-minute show, and each break played the same 1 or 2 commercials back to back, over and over again. It made me want to stop using the app completely, to be honest. The EQ was way off, commercials were twice as loud as the program. Just really ruined the experience for me. I probably wouldn't consider this platform worth putting on my phone again.
The selection is great, not everything is available if you don't already pay of the History channel and have connected the account to the app. By far the most annoying part about the app is that, while it is understandable for non-channel paying users would have to deal with ads, users who do pay for the channel still have to sit through ads even though they should not have to. If you are willing to sit through ads or you missed early episodes of a show, it is recommended, otherwise, ignore.
Good contents, but there are way too many commercials. Sometimes more than 10 repeating commercials played at a time after watching only 2-3 minutes of the videos I want to watch, I should time how long the commercial section is. It makes me spend more than 2 hours watching a video that's only 1 hour long, wasting time and data on more than an hour of commercials. I would quit watching if the content wasn't as educational.
I try to login with my Xfinity account but the link is broken that is used to verify accounts. Both on PC and mobile. When I first downloaded the app it worked fine. A few months later I attempted to login with zero success. I have not been able to login for close to a month now. When the app works, it's great. But when an app is broken for over a month, that's when it gets a 1 star review. On mobile, the link opens a blank white screen, on PC the site responds with, site cannot be found . . .
I'm pretty happy with the app. I downloaded onto my Google phone and Roku TV works well on both. Clear picture, loaded in a reasonable amount of time. As for the commercial complaints In other reviews. I haven't had an issue nor do I think it is too many. I grew up with 10 mins breaks every 15 minutes to 30 minutes air time depending on the show and running time. The commercials keep the app free. why anyone would complain about getting to watch history and learn for free, Is beyond me?
To many adds. The app never use to have them. Then boom not a 40 min show takes an hour. Time matters. At least let us skip them after so many seconds like most apps. I mean come on. Who wants to watch ads before you even get to watch the show and half the time its the same one 3 times in a row. Fix that and ill gve it 5 stars. I used to love the app as it commercial free. Now I barely use it as it takes to long to finish a show. Step away and boom more ads when you open a show and press play.
Crashes constantly. WAY too many ads and the same ones at that. Watch and ad then it reloads so you have to watch the ad again and still doesn't work. So sick of seeing that red loading circle over and over. Can't pick up where you left off on a show. Doesn't jump to next episode. So many shows I want to watch but honestly not worth having to deal with all the bugs in the app.
