I have used this app about 4 times & it gets the job done for a cheap price which I can appreciate. However, it is LAGGY. I have to close the app every time I want the GPS to update. Sometimes my drive comes off as cancelled. I cannot view previous rides. I cannot tip drivers or rate them when prompted. I thought it might be so laggy cause I have a very old phone, but even my partner with an iPhone 13 pro max struggles with the same issues. Even drivers have told me they do not trust the app.
The service is a standout based on the price. The drivers are inconsistent but not objectionable. They are not precise about pickup times in reality. They also have arbitrary Hitch pickup and drop-off locations which reduce the price and you can't use a custom pick-up location (like your home or office or actual town) unless the trip is over 50 miles and then with a large up-charge. Best for long trips if you live in a town they service.
A few weeks ago, hitch cancelled my ride without notifying me. They found a driver for me after the scheduled rides for the day because of the mistake, but then decided to blacklist my account. I can no long search for rides in the app. An error message shows up whenever I try to find a ride. Edit: Jen reached out and solved the issue, which was said to be a user-specific error. Everything works fine now!
Best pricing for inter-city travel. Second only to driving yourself, but then you have to drive... Drivers are great, but the app is a little buggy and slow. Multiple times, my booked rides disappeared right before my scheduled pickup time, making me panic about whether they were canceled or not. Fortunately those were just visual bugs.
I'm commuting regularly and hitch has been so amazing. I haven't been able to book with the app but the website works easily. You chose your city and the location (either starbucks or your house). All you see on the app is the riders name, license plate, and car type. It gives the option to set your talking preference so you won't have anyone pestering you if you want to sleep or be quiet. I've only had one problem with a driver and I was them being late and was refunded and apologized to.
Pretty horrible app experience. I like the service in general. But the app experience is just horrid. Can't see previous trips. Don't have proper account information. The driver information disappears as soon as the trip starts. Can't tip the driver. Slow. Shows the generic pick up points even if you have a premier picking you up from a specific location. Can't see past receipts.
I have a 50-50 experience on this app (3.5/5). Sometimes the driver is great and supper accomodating. Other times it's a frustrating experience. One time I had an issue with a driver not showing up and somebody else had to take over (I was late as a result). Another time I had to go cramped in a car as the driver didn't fix their car and three people were in the back of a sedan. But some drivers are amazing, always on time, calling to check up and ensure a smooth ride. Customer service is great.
The idea of this app is great. The use of the app is a little inconvenient, almost every time I use Hitch the driver is late and the driver tracker does not work to well oftentimes, with that being said I always do make it to my destination, the drivers are very friendly and I never had any serious issues while using the app. Would recommend trying it out.
Hitch is a great way to meet new people, and get paid for your time of driving a stranger to a city you might already be going too. They pay really good for the time spent, and the return is so worth the drive! Thank you, Hitch, for coming to Florida, and allowing me to drive for you. The only thing I'd say needs better attention, is the mapping. It glitches out. Confirming if a rider is picked up or dropped off, sometimes the app will log you out 25 times before you can confirm either or.

I've used hitch 3 times now, but I actually haven't been able to book any rides myself. Keep getting an "internal server error" and my dad has had to book and transfer to my name by contacting customer support each and every time. The app will say on time even when the ride is delayed (which they always are by an hour if not more), ETA's are just flatout wrong, and even simple things like copying addresses for the dropoff locations aren't even possible. Only reason I use it is because it's cheap
While not exactly fixing the tip option persay, they did however, allow me to send a tip later, through their super awesome customer service chat. So far, they've responded quickly every time I've had an issue, and resolved it. They make sure to contact me when my driver will be late too. Which is also pretty cool. I've had a few driver cancel on me, but they were quick to resolve the issue and I really appreciate how quickly they resolve problems.
8/4/25-I did 1 ride so far. now, every time I open up the app, it will not even let me log in it closes itself.. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and it's still doing it. before this, I liked the app, and I liked being able to transport people. and when you try to do the live chat, you can't because of the fact that you have to be in the app, well, if the app won't open 8/5/25 today app opened looks like back to normal, but be careful of bugs.
As a driver, the developers are pretty flexible with the time pickups, as are the riders. They are understanding about issues such as traffic or other detours that may impact the pickup times. I've always been able to get paid quickly once I've dropped the rider off. I'm still not entirely sure how pay is determined for trips as they vary every time, but it does increase in value if no one has claimed the ride. Overall, I'm pleased with working for Hitch.☺️
The experience was good initially but it has degraded significantly. The app is poor and doesnt provide accurate details. The driver tracking is not enabled all the time. It's difficult to communicate with non-english speaking drivers and there is no accountability. They would come at their convenience without following mentioned pickup time. Hitch customer service is also not available at all times. Why would you provide a time slot if you're not available at that time to assist.
The app doesn't work. They say they are servicing throughout Florida. Then, when setting up a ride. They have a message saying We're not quite there yet. But we offer services in Florida. 🤣 Then it gives error messages when it asks how you heard of them. Why don't you perfect your technology before marketing. It's not a good way to gain consumer trust.
Horrible service, you will most likely miss your trip or lose additional money to get to their pickup location as drivers no show. they advertise the ride as "Guaranteed", but it's everything but. They will try to say they will find you another driver but time frame is unknown. Luckily I was able to find another last minute ride. This app is underdeveloped, glitchy, and rides are not "guaranteed" and safety is questionable based on their horrible customer service and attempt to not refund.
As a driver, this app is unpolished. Notifications tell you to "tap to learn more" but lead you to the homepage, leaving you to fend for yourself. Leaving the app at all resets it, meaning you have to tap a dozen times to re-enter nav during a trip, which is unsafe. You'll get informed of a ride but aren't told any other info, meaning you have to tap through each city to see where it might be. Nav must be screen-on, which makes your phone hot to the touch. Support, however, is always excellent.
I am kind of happy with the app. It's easy to use, easy to schedule a ride. Once you book the car, doesn't matter how many people come with you. Splitting between friends becomes cheaper. However, if I cancel the ride and I am eligible for a refund, the refund is given in terms of Hitch credits. I would have liked to get the money back into my mode of payment. I no longer live in Texas and so I just have the money sitting in the wallet, doing nothing.
Lemme get this straight... Just to see pricing, I have to make an account? Giant red flag there, and an immediate no for me. Also, your website for whatever reason only lists locations in Texas, even though I'm in Florida which supposedly you service. After all the horror stories with other, similar apps, I'm not going to hand over my personal information right off the bat, when you guys haven't done some basic stuff on your end. Website should list locations and some sort of pricing info!
Honestly, one of the best and cheapest apps for long distance travel between cities. Even if it only works in some states, it's cheap, easy to navigate, and works really well, and you can set a ride SIXTY days in advance!, it's an amazing app, and even the drivers are very nice and friendly! I would recommend greatly
