I mean it's a bank app. Pretty simple but it gets the job done. I do have issues with my log in at times. It dosnt seem to remember my log in info about half the time. The alternative log in options don't work also. Always ask me for my phone number when I already verified it with the number. But hey it shows my balance so good enough.
I see you guys read and respond to reviews. Thank you. Here's what you need to do; have your app developers download the BECU mobile banking app and copy that exactly. They hold neither a patent nor monopoly on intuitive, user-friendly financial management tools, so why are you lagging so far behind? You're in the dark ages, guys! As a bank I love Homestreet, but your app needs a LOT of work. The interface is not nearly as smooth or user friendly as other banking apps. It doesn't have nearly as many money management features, and the sparse few it does have are tough to locate and navigate. The process of mobile check deposit is much more difficult and time consuming than on other banking apps, and so hard to find I thought you'd stopped accepting mobile depos altogether! When I deposit a check (one I regularly depo on the same day every mo, of a nominal amount) I want the funds to show up in my account immediately! Not 3 days later. Other banks manage that just fine. Why can't you? Please note: you must write "mobile deposit Homestreet" on every check or it will decline the depo. Just checking the mobile depo box is not enough. Transfers from app to app, bank to bank, or even between 2 Homestreet accounts are all impossible. It does not allow for a fingerprint password. It often crashes or fails to function in one way or another, leaving users w/no info other than "Error - check back later" and their banking needs unmet for the day. Every update I hope it gets better, but it doesn't.
Very versatile and efficient, except for the security mechanism. It has denied me access to my account in order to "prompt" me to change my password. This has happened several times, without any prior notification (I entered the "old" but correct password too many times, which locked the account). Each time, I had to call CS to talk to a teleteller, who had to unlock the account and email me a link to reset my password. After the third or fourth time, I got the impression it was routine.
The app is very minimalistic. It does a good job seeing your accounts and transactions. However it's not very convenient to get into or has many settings. I would like to see an update for fingerprint/biometric sign in so I don't have to type the password every time. Also would be nice set types of notifications (low balance, high transactions, deposits, etc) so you can have the important ones to you show.
Overall the app is functional. I really wish you were able to do more with bill pay in the app. I rarely use an actual computer and I don't like having to go to the full website to manage my bill pay items. I also wish you could see a photo of the checks you deposited like I could with my previous bank. I was having some sign-on issues but that appears to be resolved consistently now.
Solid. Doesn't have some of the extra features of other bank apps, but I really appreciate some of Homestreet's card controls. Those in particular are really useful (and missing from Chase Bank's app). I can limit purchases by region, dollar amount, transaction type (atm, in store, E-commerce, etc), and merchant type (lots of choices here). This is VERY handy if you tend to use one card for things like gas and food, or you want to stop fraud when traveling.
This is the most basic banking app I've ever used. So much information I need and can't get to from the app. 3* because it does what they designed it to do. Edit: One year later and nothing has changed or improved. Still the same basic app. Still doesn't even have a running balance. Still takes days for any purchases to show. Still 3* app
Used to be such a straightforward banking app, but it seems since they revamped it, it constantly asks me to re-enroll (feels like a weekly basis!) and doesn't seem to save my log-in name either (despite me checking the 'remember me' box upon sign-in). Such a hassle these days to get in and see my balance and latest transactions. I now dread when I need to 'quickly check my account info', as it's really no longer a quick process.
Once inside the app it works fine but the login process leaves much to be desired. It regularly forgets my login ID, does not allow the user to show password to double check it, and even though it has a button to set up fingerprint login the app will not allow fingerprint login to be set up. The frustration with logging into this app is almost to the point where I am considering switching banks just to have a better banking app.
The app will not allow me to log into my account, it reads invalid username or password. After three attempts it locks me out of my account even on the PC. This has happened three times and the wait time on the phone to get the password reset has been 30 minutes to too four hours. Looking at the other reviews this seems to be an ongoing problem.
Edit: I reduced to one star for increasingly frequent log in issues. I can work around them but it's just like 80% of the time I want to use it. Very limited. Basically a bank statement. Can't really filter it or see any spending charts or any additional info. Just here's each transaction and here is the total. Bare bones.
This app is okay for a smaller regional bank, but it has some huge flaws that seem like they could be easily fixed. Logging in isn't easy, it doesn't play well with my password manager app, & every few weeks my fingerprint stops working & I have to log in manually, go into the settings, disable then re-enable fingerprint login. Then I have to "enroll in online banking" all over again by entering my phone number and going through several prompts. It's extremely annoying and inconvenient.
Keeps logging me off and wants to send verification texts that sometimes take a while to get to me. Very frustrating when I'm trying to transfer money between my accounts quickly. I like that I can check my bank balance and transfer money but sometimes it crashes in a weird language. I then have to uninstall and reinstall and it's annoying . This happens like once a week.
Update +1yr: had improved, but the last 2 weeks it's "forgetting" my biometric login again, back to the same behaviors I said below. Fix this, please. This app was working fine, if providing pretty minimal options. But a few weeks ago it became unstable, I had to uninstall/reinstall, and ever since then the biometric logon is iffy. Now once I'm in - either by fingerprint or manual login - trying to go anywhere but the landing page forces me to enter my password AGAIN.
It was a little bit time consuming to set up what with having to call for some information (that I probably should have had myself anyway) and waiting a few businesses days, but this app is great. Really easy to transfer money from savings to checking or vice versa, to see when and where recent purchases were made, and some other stuff I haven't checked out yet. 5/5.
not very intuitive and very limited features. after each deposit you have to start all over again to do a 2nd check. camera needs to take photo automatically when centered in viewfinder.
The availability of funds is ambiguous. I receive an email saying the deposit is received. Then I receive a second email saying it is approved yet my available funds do not reflect any of the deposit.
Glitches often. Can't access parts of the app. Keeps giving me an error message plus it's a super slow app
so many errors when trying to log in. camera image is super distorted for check deposit. not sure why they would ask me to rate it
It seems they correct the false jailbreak alert. Works the same as before. Nothing new. Although I don't like the rusty brown/maroon color.
