App used to be passable. I like new features like no password etc., but it's ridiculous that the app UI clashes with the android UI, i.e. Trying to select any of the move forward options while purchasing you need to be really careful not to hit the phone's back button as they literally overlap each other. Which is wild because no other app I've ever used has this trouble. Try some QA. Happy to update my review is this is resolved, but I'm better off using your mobile website at this point.
was down at my favourite eatery under street level (No GPS/Location service) and the app would not accept my postcode, so was unable to see what was screening at the cinema 2 streets away. As a S/W engineering I have to ask who does your validation testing??? in this instance the app was completely useless. I would strongly suggest to allow postcode selection to override geo-location. Also geo-location is useless for travelers returning home.
I attend the Movies as a Senior 60+ and the benefits I receive especially reduced Movie tickets are a great help on a pension.
What an awful app. It's not easy to navigate, doesn't work well, and is difficult to finalise payment. Our food order wasn't logged, so we couldn't request that it be fulfilled via the app as instructed, then when we arrived the staff couldn't find the order either. Once we'd sorted out the snacks, the staff couldn't scan the barcode on two different devices. This made everything more difficult, not easier. Staff confirmed that the app has been problematic and were very helpful.
2 out of 10 times it works, every other time, even though it has your details, it says you have no cinemas selected and won't let you select any. Have to go to the website most times.
3 years ago I wrote a review saying how I could not buy tickets with the app. Later, it worked for a while, but I've never enjoyed using the app. Last few weeks I can't even launch the app. I just get a white screen. Here's my review from 3 years ago. "I should charge Hoyts a booking fee when I use their app. Could not purchase tickets. After entering credit card details there was no way to continue. The ability to scroll in the app turns off at some point. How is it they can make such a poor app?"
Completely useless app. Can't even login. The app doesn't even send the change password email. I changed the password repeatedly via the website instead and I know the details are correct. The website immediately logs me out when I try to actually buy a ticket and will not then work for a login, saying the login details are wrong. The app login also doesn't work. Just to make it even better, no one answers the phone. It is literally impossible for me to book tickets with a Hoyts reward card.
This app is broken, have not been able to successfully put through an order on this app in over a year. I am able to select ticket amount and seats, then once you select your payment method and click confirm order, you just get taken to an eternal load screen limbo where your order does not process. Then, you have to proceed to the website and wait 10 minutes for the seats you chose to free up. This is very inconvenient when trying to book, especially for popular premieres. Fix this, please.
I can only order hot chips at the Highpoint location, there are no other food tabs available, no drinks or popcorn or choc tops. is this a glitch? Because I know they sell them.
Pointless doesn't work. Constantly popping up errors whenever you choose seats or payments.
I'm trying to buy tickets but when I get to the very last step where payment is authorised it says I'm not using the Hoyts app so can't verify payment but I am using the app.
Unable to Log in or use ap. I open the app and get a txt box saying "you've been logged out" I try to log back in and it says "unable to connect to server" I can use a Web Browser to log in perfectly fine though. Tried to put some in app feedback but that also came up with an error and just refreshed me back to the home page. Very annoying and a pain
I've used Hoyts app for years and it was great! But the latest update is a nightmare. I was unable to login for weeks because the code never arrived to my email. Now I want to check the movies and it says location is disabled so no cinemas are shown. Location is activated and permission given to the app to use it. Still it doesn't work. Even without location, there should be the option to select multiple cinemas as before. The app is unusable.
I tried to use paypal to pay for my tickets twice and the app froze after confirming my paypal details both times. Then the seats i was trying to reserve in those transaction were "reserved" for the next 10-15 mins and i had to keep refreshing the page to be able to select the seats i originaly selected. All in all, not a smooth transaction at all. I tried to give the sbove feedback in the app after the transaction finally worked... but i was "Unable to leave feedback at this time."
The app gives good information about the movies showing at the local Hoyts cinema. Disappointed that when I attempted to share the details of a movie to my wife via Messenger, it was only trying to share the location of the cinema. And it's also disappointing when we arrive at 9:30 for a 10 AM movie and can't get in! This is the venue, not the app.

Finding a specific movie is very time-consuming. The platform displays too many irrelevant shows, which makes scrolling frustrating. A more focused and efficient search experience would greatly improve usability (Like first select the movie and then it should reveal show times) otherwise all other functionality of the app is great.
DON'T DOWNLOAD - wanted to order food through the app before arriving. Tried two cards hiwever it was saying there was an error even though both cards had sufficient funds. Gave up and just ordered food when I got there. Next day however, I noticed i was getting charged $1 each time i tried yo pay witht the cards through the app. Pissed off it's this hard to order for via the app, even Village appnis more user friendly than this rubbish. Will be calling tomorrow to get the funds refunded back.
Great app! Simple and easy to use interface, browse session times on different dates, different movie experiences & cinema locations. Use your Qantas points for purchases and use different payment methods at the checkout, plus much more. Worth a download if you are a regular hoyts movie goer!
issues with PayPal payment option in the previous version, have preordered end games movie last month using vouchers and the access fees via PayPal, PayPal processed the payment while this app did not process and advised transactions did not complete, so I did not get my PayPal money back only after 2 weeks, the app addvised to call support with reference number, which only way to contact them via email and they responsesld after few days, never had issues previously with the very old version
