The check deposit is among the worst I've ever seen with any bank app. It always takes forever to focus and just takes the picture randomly before it's done focusing. Now when I click on "manage card" for my credit card I get "An error has ocurred! We're sorry, but the page you are looking for isn’t available." Screen and I can't pay my credit card bill. It's been at least 2 years and no fix yet. Now it doesn't open at all! White screen and that's it. I'm going to switch banks. I'm done.
The app is basically useless for a credit card user. Having to enter your full birthday and password? Why? Want to pay your credit card bill? Oh you cant do that in the app. Whats the point? The website isnt designed well for mobile so paying your bill is just a chore. And twice now, the website has told me making a payment is "unavailable" right around due date. Looking forward to paying this card off and closing the account.
Confusing initial set up, followed by lackluster capabilities. I only have the credit card, however the app will only show the balance, available credit, and transactions (very recently around July 2020 now shows pending transactions too). You cannot make a payment with the app though! Compared to every other banking app I have connected to credit cards, this one is by far the least useful.
It's amazing with this app/bank, I always encounter an unusual problem you don't experience with other banks. Auto pay for credit card, I only get the option to pay minimum or statement balance, what if I want to pay more than minimum??? There should be the third option of "other" where customers can input a certain amount. Please fix this, it's really not that difficult. Other banks don't have this problem.
Worst app ever! Taking pictures of the check for deposit is impossible! Also who put the flash on and off to the lower right hand corner! Took me a while to find it. Turn on the flash and it still complained about the image. Took me more than 10 minutes to finally complete the deposit! The previous app gives me all the control of the image and I control when to take the picture. The flash thing was on the upper left hand corner where it is easy to find.
Zero stars. The mobile deposit option is the ABSOLUTE WORST. It never works. The absence of a manual picture taking option is a total time suck. The automatic option does not work within a reasonable amount of time. Oncs it finally takes the picture and the request is submitted there is always a problem with the picture(s). ALWAYS.
Update made this app USELESS! I have not been able to successfully deposit any check since the update! First, it snaps a photo whenever it pleases, and of course it starts snapping the pictures when you're not ready yet, thus wasting time to delete and start all over. I would rather have control to when to take the photo when I know I'm ready. And for some reason it keeps on saying it can't read the numbers at the bottom of the check, with my Samsung S9+ camera in a well lit room with dark bg.
awful, as expected. the app kicks you off if you switch between apps. I had to get my checking account # to put into ebay. the app of course didn't allow me to just copy it so I noted the first couple #s in my head, switched to ebay to enter them, then switched back to get the last numbers. hsbc logged me out. I thought activating the security device would help: nope. always kicked out if I leave the app. bad experience that I'm not looking forward to again.
The app doesn't notify me of any changes to my account. So when I think I have enough turns out, I don't because of a few payments, but I don't know of these payments until I go into the app and check my account. It's really worrying, especially when it comes to helping combat fraud and unauthorized transactions, and I genuinely can't make it a habit to continually log in every few minutes to see changes to my account that's a hassle.
This APP is unacceptable. Seriously, this is your "New App"?!? You cant even make a payment to a HSBC credit card from the app, how in this day and age would any banking app developers think that's acceptable. Did you not try out maybe at least a few of the other bank and card apps out? To manage cards now, people use apps and make payments and expect the info and payment dates to be clearly visible and tasks accomplished quickly and easily...so you guys went for the OPPOSITE?
I like the bank itself, but the app is horrible. Their system does not update in real time like other bank apps. Also their processing times are really bad too. If u have several things you purchased it will deduct the money from your account and also put a hold on it as well which makes no sense. This whole app needs a major revamp. it should not take 3 days to see debit card transactions on the app!
Mobile check deposit doesnt allow for me to take an image manually. Just spent a half hour trying to get it to recognize the check. The only time it recognizes is when i zoom in so close so that the image doesnt show the 4 corners of the check. Then it logged me off when I finally did get a good image, then the second time it said that IT couldnt read the check details. I finally settled for a too close image that it took that at least covered the essential details. That was painful.
I have spent 30 minutes across several days to try to deposit a check. Taking the photo is a frustrating process because I either can't get the app to take a photo or I keep getting error messages even though I'm following the instructions. Then once I take the photo, it keeps saying I can't deposit the check because it can't read the numbers. HSBC has closed almost all of its branches so please prioritize fixing this feature in the mobile app. The only alternative is for me to switch banks.
I guess it's an upgrade of sorts. I had to spend 15 minutes on the phone switching some sort of digital security from my old phone to this one, but at least I don't have to enter my birth date every time I want to check my account, and finally can use a fingerprint (hallelujah!). However, it's still incredible that I can't pay my balance from the phone. I need to go on their horrible website and navigate my way to the payments. It's 2019!!
Check Deposit doesn't work. Outside of app it's simple to take a clear picture of a check. Within the app it's evident that it's unable to auto-focus on three check no matter the background or lighting conditions. Clearly this hasn't been tested (at least not on a Samsung S21). Very disappointing. 8/31/2022 Over 2 months later check deposit still doesn't work. Takes picture of front but the back is a fail.
When the app finally added the function to deposit checks, I was excited to not have to go out to do so. However, it is terrible. It takes me 15 minutes to try to deposit a single check. It continually tells me over and over that my check isn't within the frames when it clearly is and rejects all the attempts. It also does not allow the user to take the photo itself, rather it is automatic which makes the process frustrating. Honestly would rather go to an ATM.
The display on the screen is haotic. Previous app was much better to use and the display was nicer. Yeah right, use fingerprints online through the phone and make it easy to breach a lot of your personal data in one place... I love the previous app. I only wish I could see my points and convert them for money or something...
The review below is from 8/2019 & I still have mobile check deposit issues on a weekly basis. ----- Check deposit hasn't worked for a month now. I either get an error message or it says I've already deposited the check which I haven't. I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times yet it doesn't make a difference. Why would you push an app live when a major feature doesn't work and then not address it quicker? I'm not sure why I stay with HSBC as I've encountered so many problems over the years.
I have had a terrible experience with this app. The HSBC app requires updates every two or three weeks it seems. This is overloading my cell phone. With no actual noticeable difference in the app. If there are this many bug fixes necessary, something more permanent to fix it needs to be done. Also, even after updates, I am unable to log off the app. It never logs off. Something needs to be done.
It doesn't work. I can put in my user name and i get an error message and to try again later. This has been over two weeks.Ugh. Garbage app. I have already talked to tech help T the bank and they couldn't fix it either. Told me there were issues that were still in need of fixing. It is now two months later. App has been installed and uninstallable and installed. Talk to tech. Still doesn't work. Lousy app. Need new bank with app that works
