The mobile website is actually easier to order from. In the app they make you go screen by screen for the options, but on the mobile site, it's all in one screen. Also, for whatever reason, my phone wasn't able to fill my card details in on the app (but it could on the website). I'll probably keep it now that my card is saved in there (and you can only get deals thru the app) but def some improvement on the dev side would be welcomed.
Easy app to use if you like Hungry Howie's you must get this app because there is always a good deal to be had when using it. I just got a large 1 topping for $8 for carryout. Pretty nice deal if you ask me. Of course I always tip even with carryout so it was more than $8 but that's just a personal thing. I worked in food service for a while so it's always nice to feel appreciated for making someone's dinner.
sad... you can remove items all you want and no price change, but try and add 1 and it costs. If I can get tomatoes and mushrooms in the price, why can't I remove those 2 and add onions instead, nope .25 to add, but no savings of .50 to remove. why not just let people pick what they want instead of forcing you taste on us! I was looking forward to this, but not now.
The app can be infuriating to use. The default store is stuck on the one close to work. If you use the android back button toom many times, instead of the app back button it will clear out your order. And if you rush back into it, you may miss that the store reverted to the default location. Sometimes you can stack deals, some you can't. You cannot use your rewards with a deal....but you can just place a second order to get these deals or rewards. Some locations allow cash payments, some do not.
I have a reward pizza and was also getting pizza for a group. I wanted to use my reward for mine and then a deal for the others, but each time I put in both, it would delete my reward and try to apply it to the deal instead. And there's nowhere that it states you aren't able to use both for one order. It was very frustrating, especially thinking I was the one who made a mistake and not the system. I tried redoing my order about 3 times before I realized what it was doing. Otherwise, it's fine
This app was recently updated and since then everytime I make an order, it crashes, so I have to do the order over and over. I also had a time when I was going back and forth editing and removing pizzas and was content with the order and placed it. Even though my end decision showed up the way I wanted visually, the results for the order was a lot of extra pizzas. We ordered 5, but ended up with like 12.
Pizza is great, the app is not. Other pizza apps are a lot easier to use. Here you can't use the back arrow on phone. If you do it closes the whole app, losing all items in the cart. It's annoying when you're almost done ordering. Plus, the break down of your order and the extra charges aren't seen. If you add more toppings than the special has. The outrageous $6.99 Delivery Fee + taxes and Tip on a FREE PIZZA. The reward program should include Free Delivery on something you earned
Overall, the app does you you expect it to do. Rating one star because a recent update added a dark pattern to the checkout screen. Now, every time you place an order, it tries to sign you up to be spammed with their promotional emails and texts. Will change to 4 stars if they get rid of this anti-consumer design or save the setting so you don't have to opt out with every order. Will change to 5 if they do that and also fix the order tracker prompting to select a certificate when opened.
The sign in part of app is awful. If you use auto-fill it fills in wrong fields. If you click "Don't sell my info" the app sends you to blank page and locks up! So it appears that, unless you agree to them selling your info, you can't sign-up for the app, except as a Guest User. Two thumbs down and one star until these issues are resolved. Terrible! I am using an android phone., by the way.
The app is functional. The pizza tracker is useless because the store isn't honest about when food is being cooked, finished, etc. They actually deliver pizza and the app indicates it's still being cooked or prepared. A recent change to the app has it defaulted to "opt in" to receiving notifications by both email and text for promos, etc. That's two opportunities to act with integrity; one by the company and one by the individual store. Both opportunities missed!
App does what it is supposed to - - meaning my food gets delivered :-) However, the order tracking feature doesn't work, my order remains on "make". As there is never a wait time provided and the tracking is malfunct, I never know when to expect the order to be ready, and the time has ranged from 20 mins to over two hours, so that is a bit inconvenient.
HowieTrack, the system for tracking your order progress, doesn't work. Every time I order, it says my order is still being made even once it has been delivered. Tried to order a PSUB Special sub, minus the green peppers. There was no option to remove them 😢 So I ended up paying extra for a regular pizza sub plus the veggies I wanted. Also, the app just doesn't run smoothly. It lags and just has an overall clunky feel about it Unrelated to the app, but Howie's deals are more expensive than Pizza Hut 🙃 They offer incentives for ordering online (ie. deals that take a nice chunk out of your bill), but Howie's doesn't do that.
Creating a new order is always a hassle, if not impossible. Once store is selected and method of getting food is decided (delivery, pick up, or carry out) it takes you to menu. You can reorder previous which is always easy and works. Every time I try creating a new order, once I get my selected item set to my preferences, it never gives me an option to add to cart. Either cancel or reset are the only options. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it numerous times and still the same issue.
Overall a good app. Responsive and quick to load. My only complaint is that if you close the app and re open it, your cart gets emptied and you get signed out. I don't mind I was signed out but I would have liked to keep the items in my cart. Update: Today I went to order some stuff and closed out of the app for like a half an hour and when I opened the app again, all of my stuff was the same as if I never closed the app. So I guess my only complaint is not a problem anymore :)
Food is pretty good if some of it is over priced. The app is fine, Abit slow on even fast internet, but they need to add more options for instructions, to start with get rid of the delivery instructions limit, 12 characters is not enough. Their systems don't seem to save those instructions so they keep delivering to my neighboor, (we share the same address) and it's not enough space to put down that I'm in the smaller house so I have to keep calling them and telling them. Also if your looking for fast delivery hungry Howie's isn't it. True their food is good but I live 12 minutes with traffic from a store and they always take 40 minutes or more, at least the food does come hot though every time and the drivers are very nice.
Let's me order what I want, doesn't crash mid order, and I don't have to talk to people. Pizza made easy. Warning ⚠️ Sometimes the cart code will make your order more expensive. I had a free 2 topping and a mix and match coupon and the app made my more expensive reward pizza the mix and match and a cheaper pizza my reward. It's only a two dollar difference but still questionable. I corrected it by editing the cart but be cautious.
I can't delete old favorites and some of them are no longer available so it annoys me. (Also, one of my old favorites is under my ex's name because it's what we ordered together so it's frustrating that I can't delete that one.) Also, I put my phone down for a little bit to grab my wallet to enter my card info and it deleted my entire order so that's annoying. Then, the app deletes the order if you leave it for a second to respond to a text. I had to type the order 3 times due to this issue.
Honestly, there is always "geolocation error" when trying to find my location... half the time, the offers/deals don't work and says "This offer can not be found," and the app is just not user-friendly at all. Every time I try to log on, it now says that they can't find my information & then sends me like 4 emails for a password change I never requested.
Horrible ! No way to type any special requests. Couldn't get confirmation, took 3 times and calling the store. Too many issues. At check out, loaded for 20 minutes, had to redo entire order, didn't know if my order went through twice. It shouldn't take you an hour and phone calls to try to order pizza on the app.
For several months now I have been unable to add items to the shopping cart. After I select the style, preferences (bake, cheese), crust, and toppings, the only buttons at the bottom of the app are the back button and the clear button. There is no button to add the pizza to my shopping cart. I have cleared app cache and data, uninstalled the app, and reinstalled it, but the problem persists. I have to use the website instead of the app in order to place orders.
