HuntWise: A Better Hunting App

Extremely disappointed after trial. After the first week I was happy and bought the year. Immediately after the trial ended I have nothing but issues. My current location will say the current date and my hunt areas will be 1 day behind. Closing the app and restarting doesn't help. Thats if GPS/mapping will load at all. Save your money, this isn't worth it. OH! And they wont give you a refund, its in their terms. Stay away.

App is just ok. Weather forecast doesn't update quickly enough. This app called for rain on Thursday of this week for several days after other sources changes their forecasts. That means hunting predictions aren't useful or accurate. Sometimes, the app takes forever to load or I have to "force stop" it and try to open it again. Oh...and it's $40 a month! UPDATE: Taking off another star (down to 2) because I'm having to "force stop" it almost every time I use it. Unacceptable for any app.

update: customer service processed a refund for me. originally bought for huntcast... but then realized I just go hunting when I have time during the rut and cold fronts. wasn't worth the $600 I invested in this over the years... should've bought a new stand. I tried to cancel last year thru the app which told me to cancel through the app store which told me I had no paid subscription for this app. Then was auto charged $120 for a year, and just last week was charged $120 for another year.

You can download but you can't use a single feature without paying for subscription which starts at $20/month. I'm not interested in that price having only a 7-day trail before. that's not enough time to explore the app, plan and execute a trip. I'm not paying $20 for the app to end up being a bust. give at least a 30-day trail or make some of the basic features free. If devs believe in the app, it should not be an issue to offer a longer trial in the effort to attract new long-term users.

Great app. Good advice, gets you thinking in the right line for weather and wind. 2 things are a bit of a bummer. One its pretty expensive to unlock features. So they only give you 2 days out. Two, the map that shows the wind is some random place no where near me....so I cant really use that feature the way I would like to. Maybee it works after you pay to unlock it?

It's a good app for planning. I've found it to be accurate up to 70% of the time. When I am in an area without reception the GPS will have full bars but the map will not load. When I mark new scrapes, rubs, game trails the app won't save them unless I have solid cell reception or wifi connection. For the elite version that I pay for I expect this app to work as flawlessly as technologically possible. May switch to On X hunt app.

They collect all of your data including phone number, and then you need to sign up for PRO just to unlock weather predictions for your hunt. Either let people just download the free version, THEN collect all the data when you sign up for PRO. Or, at least allow a trial period to see if we like the app. Nice idea but I just hate all the data collecting only to hit a roadblock to unlock the features we actually need.

When I change species, nothing happens, it still gives me the prediction for Whitetail. Looks like the other species are only available if you pay for the upgrade. That is ridiculous! Especially when there ARE NO WHITETAIL in your hunting areas! It also will not allow you to send a message to Huntwise through the app. Type it in, hit send..... nothing. Deleting this worthless app!

Paid $25 for this app and can't even see all the options on the screen. It's terribly formatted, and crashed about 5 times in the 5 minutes I tried navigating it. I went to mark a WMA and the name wouldn't come up in the search bar, but it was right there on the map. Went to save it to My Hunt Areas and the save button isn't even visible enough. Maybe iPhone users have better luck with it. I want my money back!

Always crashes! If you've been using your track my path feature you'll lose all that data. Hope you're not two miles in some thick cover using that to back track. If you add a location and take a photo though the app you can only see that picture in the app. It does not save to your phone. No built in measuring device. I'll click a location to make a hunt zone but it will make a checkered pattern so I always have to manually draw it anyways. Double billed for yearly subscription. Moving to OnX.

Would give zero stars if it were an option. The version I have was heavily discounted and was a package deal. Otherwise, I'd never have considered it The app is terrible. It's slow when it works. It locks up and becomes unresponsive. Deer movement predictions are questionable unless they somehow know more about rut activity than the state wildlife agency. It's just a novelty anyway as there's no substitute for actual experience. Any free weather app can help you more than this.

Wanted to try all the cool features but, Upon subscribing, none of the features were unlocked. Customer service didn't get back to me for 5 days. All I got was that your subscription has expired. Now I'm stuck trying to get my money back because huntwise, "doesn't see my charge". Big disappointment during hunting season.

Seems like a good app, however, every time I try to create an alert for when conditions are right for a particular stand location, the app crashes. Also, once RutCast started on the "Pre-Rut" phase, I could no longer access Rut Cast. Clicking on it no longer does anything. Even if I try to click on the "Maximize the Peak" button, nothing happens. ALSO, RutCast doesn't update at my pinned location. It's stuck on 11hrs 40mins and resets every time.

Hunted whitetails for 30+ years and find this app is not very useful at all and customer service is poor. Didn't want paid version but had issues finding customer service info to stop the free trial and was charged. Did not receive any communication from huntwise that I was charged and now having issues undoing it all. This is the very reason I never pay for any 'app'. Never again.

So I have had issues with this app off and on for 2 yrs now. It recently stopped working during an important hunt and I couldn't find my markers and I left a comment and got a impersonal reply that they've had issues and fixed them load the new version- I have the new version thank you very much and I don't get hunt as much as other people may get to so I don't get that hunt back. It's more than an inconvenience, it's a paid service with no trust worthy product included. Do not get this app.

Update: still unable to load photos from most folders, a real negative /Good community, and predictive "huntcast". I haven't tried the map feature. Some deficiencies: (1) when you go to load photos, you can't choose the folder to select the photo from. It just defaults to a main folder; even if you try moving the photos you want into that folder, it doesn't see them. (2) often doesn't let you show the gear you used on a particular hunt; needs fixing.

Had this app for at least 4 years and last year so many things were taken away from the free version like looking at the week's forecast and being able to move the map accordingly to see the surrounding areas - now this year you can see only the weekdays and while being on the weekend (Friday included!) It won't give any details at all, and you can no longer move the map and look at any details while not physically in the stand!!!

Have been a customer for years. Not anymore. The app had it faults but I could deal with it. They recently updated it and are asking much higher prices for the same features. Since the new model. My hunt forecasts have been wrong ever time and the mapping fails to load. It crashes 2 out of 3 times I load it, or the maps won't load. But I can no longer rely on this app after many years of use. I pay yearly for the app. I will have to find something more reliable and accurate. It's a shame.

I was excited for my free trial for the upcoming deer season so I upgraded from the free version of the app and had nothing but problems on my galaxy S10. I would try to view conditions for certain areas and the app would freeze and restart. I restarted my phone to see if that was the issue and nothing helped. Subscription cancelled. At least I can still use the free version.

I purchased a Novix treestand and they sent me a code for a free pro membership for a year. When I checked out it showed the code was accepted. After seven days they charged me $59. I emailed them multiple times with no reply. *Update* money has been refunded. Overall a decent app, only complaint is some of the layers are too dark making it difficult to see through and I did not see an option to have multiple layers on at once.
