Riddled with scammers and hidden fees. Ordered a single item, then get a message saying the item was about 40% more than what was originally purchased for and asked my approval for the purchase which I did agree to. The was delivered with a receipt for the price that I originally agreed upon from the store it was purchased, then got the receipt from instacart showing 2 items. Only ever received one item and they marked that one item up 40% from the store and somehow changed my items to two.
I have been using the Instacart app for a little while now, and I really enjoy it. The app is very easy to use, you do pay more for some items than you would in the store, but that is the cost of convience. 9/11/24 UPDATE: I recently notice that when I order heavy items the female shoppers will mark them as not available, even when the item is available. I feel like some of them don't want to lift the heavy items. I'm ready to stop using instacart. I wish I could choose male shopper for my order
They give coupon codes, but then you can't ever use them. Again, I got a promo code for $40 off $80 IF I PICK UP. Somehow, there is never anyone available to make a pick up order, so they tell you to make it delivery. Well, then I pay extra and have to tip someone, and don't get the money off. I dont know why they keep advertising pick up if the stores around me don't offer it.
Before Instacart offered free delivery. Now, in order to force Instacart+ on people, you have to pay anywhere from $1.99 to $9.99 depending on how fast you need the items delivered; absolutely awful. Plus, shoppers don't know how to say thank you. A $25 tip isn't enough? Do you want $1,000? Items shown as in stock are often marked as not available & alternatives ignored. What a joke Instacart has become.
Beware! I have tried to reach support and work through ordering issues multiple times. Each time they have told me a different way that they cannot help me. They have told me they can link a new account but without my Instacart+ offers (which make restaurants affordable), that I can verify my number in a month after my subscription expires, and that, because I was able to place one order, I am not eligible for a refund. Run, fast and far.
Search function is busted. Shoppers consistently deliver to the wrong address. I've even received orders meant for other people, not just had my own orders misplaced. There needs to be more of a way to make sure shoppers drop off orders at the correct place. As it stands, I'm paying a monthly fee to get a slight discount on orders I rarely actually get.
Absolutely god awful, was fine once, now you can't get anything on there without the price being raised 20 times over. I recommend it if you're actually rich Edit: Forgot to mention they decided they were done delivering food within a few hours. Now you either pay extra to have them delivered normally, or pay double the extra amount to have it be delivered quickly. If you want that part to be free you can schedule for tomorrow, it doesn't matter, it's still sickingly expensive. Just go shopping
Only order from this app because of the limited options for grocery delivery apps. App is manipulative, it will say an item is in stock when you purchase it and check out and then say the item is no longer in stock. They manipulate you into making a purchase you would not have made had you known whether they had an item on hand or not. Wish there was an alternative.
Always an issue with billing.... I am trying to my multiple credits but for some reason they keep charging my credit card and leaving a few credits behind. Hopefully your order doesn't need substituting, because that really messes up the using of credits. At least a refund (in credits) was easy when my produce arrived visibly moldy or rotten. I wish they had reimbursed my credit card instead though - I don't want more stupid credits! My order should have been free, including fees and tip, but no
App used to be great for groceries, not any more. Yesterday I ordered about 40$ worth of groceries to make dinner, paid extra for Express so it would get delivered within 2 hours. Not only did my groceries get delivered 2 hours late, I was also charged twice 2 different amounts. So my 40$ groceries turned into 90$. Don't waste your time or money
The Instacart app has proven to be useful especially during the winter, but what prevents me from giving it 5 stars is that when trying to log in, you're not given much time to put in the number code. Therefore, I can't recommend logging out ever once you manage to log into the app. Edit: After an update on the app, I noticed that I now have the option to select up to three possible replacements for each item. That is a welcome addition that I find to be very convenient.
I've been using Instacart for groceries for about 6 weeks. My first 3 (free) deliveries were perfect! No issues at all. Then I placed an order for pick up at Stop&Shop.. but they somehow "lost" it. Instacart customer service chat was super easy & convenient. A few glitches, but I got a full refund within 24 hours✌️ It was more the stores fault tho, not the app. I got 1 more delivery that went smoothly after that, so I decided to sign up for the yearly subscription 😊
Instacart seems to have some kind of partnership with BJ's and the way that pops up in the app is really annoying and misleading. This happens often: I search for something in Costco like cottage cheese. I add it to my cart for later and close the app. The next time I open the app, it opens directly to some cottage cheese in BJ's. It doesn't say "BJ's" at the top and if you're not paying attention, you end up with a BJ's cart. They're tricking you and it's sketchy.
Great experience! Only trouble is sometimes the drivers are a bit lazy and they don't want to look for the items and they try to replace them so they won't have to search for so long. (which I get it you don't want to be shopping forever but it's literally the job). Other than all that decent experience, less encounters of issues than with doordash quite frankly.
Something is seriously wrong at Instacart, I'm actively looking for substitute apps. They say when they can deliver your order, but that's just false advertising. They'll say your order is "confirmed" for a time range, then as that window approaches, you'll get a message that says it is "confirmed" for a later time -- again and again. It's so bad that you just never know when you're you are going to get your order. I routinely get my orders 5+ hours late. I'm going to give UberEats a try
Frustrating optional delivery. I placed an order just before 3pm and confirmation said delivery time of 3:28-4:58. I cancelled the order at 8 pm as a shopper had still not been assigned and I kept getting emails saying my delivery time was bumped back. I get that it depends on how many shoppers available and such, but they should have something in place to mitigate this type of scenario. I didnt want my items showing up in middle of the night, assuming they even would have.
I would say overall instacart is a necessary evil. Prices are acceptable in the majority of cases, but i do think 2 important bugs could be fixed. #1: re-enable ability for customers to customize their location pin. This is disabled for several months now. #2 allow customer to customize delivery instructions in "address book" section. Most other apps that manage multiple delivery addresses allow this. #3 enable custom tip PERCENTAGE (%) e.g 7% or 26%.
I have has problems with this site since the beginning but I always end up trying it again. I've had items missing, milk left outside when the order wasnt marked to leave outside and a whole family including children unloading the cars but I'm finally done. .. and didn't ask for anything simply gave them the lowest rating on the one that's pops up at the end of an order. I then got an email saying I wasn't getting a refund and there was nothing more to be done. this pic is the beginning ..
you can only change the store location you're ordering from if you do pickup. for delivery the system automatically chooses whatever store it wants and there's no way to change it. you should be able to select whatever store location you want to order from. they'll charge you a long distance fee for stores further away so I don't understand why this isn't an option.
was unable to get the app to accept any delivery address. I tried to chat with 2 different technicians but as soon as they came online, the field where I would enter my responses disappeared. the result was that I could see their messages, but I could not respond to them. I tried it on 2 different phones but it simply refused to accept any delivery address.
