I love JibJab, but for years the app has been subpar. It crashes/freezes, can be very hard to add faces. Sometimes I'll just use my computer, but that eliminates the ease of being able to text something. I also wish they'd just give the easy copy link access via the app so I wouldn't have to run into issues when attempting to share directly somewhere (for example, I just tried to share to Facebook and it defaults to my page, when I attempted to switch to a friend's page it wouldn't pull her up).
It's a little confusing sometimes at first on the app, because it's different than the website. BUT THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE MATERIAL considering I pay for this. If you don't add more material, I'm going to set my annual sub to end. I've already expended many of the good videos. There needs to be more overall, including other categories. And honestly, you should separate the .gifs from videos because it's hard to separate. There should be two different categories.
Meh 😒. Thought it was cute after a quick once-over and got excited to try it, but maybe the idea of over 1500 videos seems misleading to me. There may actually BE that many, but it seems like I can only ever see the same 50 or so videos. Annoyed I paid for a whole year. Turned off my renewal already (after less than 2 weeks). Wish there was a trial period, and if there was I just missed out, I guess.. Some of the videos are cute, but I have 3 kids and can't often "cast" that many characters.
Fun but a little low brow. I love playing with this app and subscribe almost every. They have a huge inventory but the themes remain pretty trashy. I love making a fool of myself in the name of a good time as much as the next guy and can "usually" find something usable. If they could offer more options appealing to those who live outside the trailer park I'd give jibjab a solid 6 out of 5.
It's pretty cool and super fun. I was under the impression that you could make a video and share it. That's it. Apparently you have to pay for a subscription. I didn't see that posted anywhere til after I took the time to join, save faces, and make a video....it let me watch like five seconds of the video before it basically said I had to buy the subscription. Disappointing...
I like this idea a lot. I've used it multiple times for friends and family. They usually love it! However, (and this is a BIG down-side) having to put my brown-skinned friends/family on mostly white characters due to there being very few options to choose from with characters with brown skin (unless I want all my cards to have a hip-hop theme -_- ) was very frustrating. Millions of us exist so it'd be nice to be considered. This is one of the main reasons I'm cancelling my subscription.
I'd give this app 5 stars except for it is very frustrating. When you're browsing for a card , the app freeze up. & says JibJab is not responding. Your choices are "wait", "close app", or "report issue". Reporting does no good, to wait, good luck, it may work again in the next few days, so close it and start all over. Time consuming, happens over & over in a row. issue 2: The music is way outdated. From the 80s & older. Can we please have music from this century?and I'll stay subscribed.
I'm trying to make a 5-person video for my daughter's birthday but every time I finish the "smile" part and click on load, it tells me "Uh-oh! We were unable to update your face. Please check your internet connection and try again." My internet connection is fine, so I try again and get the same message. I disconnect from my wifi to use data and get the same message. I googled to see the issue & it says to disable the ad blockers but I can't find a Settings tab to do that. It's very frustrating.
I've been a paid subscriber for a couple of years, and liked the app, but it no longer works. I get a start up screen and that's it. It would have been nice to have been able to send virtual cards out for the holiday, especially given the quarantine circumstances. Going to have to cancel my subscription. No point in paying for something I can't use. Update: new version fixes issue. Rating adjusted.
Would have given 5 stars but you have to download the app if you want the option to subscribe on a monthly basis. If you subscribe via the website, you're only able to do so on a yearly basis. This distinction needs to be made much clearer on the JibJab website without having to scour the TOS & faqs. Otherwise, I'm enjoying my year's worth of laughs. Also, don't forget to turn off your subscription's automatic renewal.
You'd be better served if you charged fee per routine used. I don't use it daily but for special events. A fee per event used would encourage using it when you have the need. Having to commit to a monthly charge is a real TURN OFF. We don't live around your site & great creations. It's a 'when you need it' type app. I'm not going to add another monthly charge for n unnecessary fun app. I think you'll turn more off than on. In short I HATE your new monthly charge system.
I would love to give 5 stars but I have one concern. It would really be nice if users had the option of choosing the skin tone of there choice. While I have friends/family are all skin color, having the option to choose makes for a better video card for all to enjoy when received. Especially since videos used are not always portrayed from that ethnicity. Otherwise, no issues loading, sending via text message or social media. Great App!
For the price of subscription I'd at least expect an app that can function at its most basic level without crashing on a top of the line phone. Questionable practices on the subscription page not allowing a monthly subscription option but displaying pricing for it. This has app store slumlord written all over it. I was able to make one video with it, which was all I really wanted in the first place. $36 lesson for me.
Very limited topic choices. Plus, when you try different topics to identify what videos might be candidates. The videos are repetitive on most topics. I strongly recommend that you support your creative team to expand topics and new videos, ecards, etc. I refuse to keep sending the same video after the first time I used it. It would make me look like I am unable to remember what I already sent to them. It makes me look so bad. I am extremely disappointed in JibJab.
So far I've had the app for 15 mins and the app keeps closing on me. Probably something I won't keep. If I pay for something I should have it working properly. Update: I have unstalled the app many time trying to get thing's to work and haven't had any luck. I paid for the extra video's and I can't even get them to work. I will not subscribe any longer, it hasn't even been 24hrs yet and I'm unsubscribing. Smh!
Very difficult to drag an image to create a video, often doesn't work. Also difficult to get a picture from my photo album,. The app doesn't seem to get all my photos. And I couldn't add text to a video card that I managed to create. Sometimes very frustrating to use. Not worth the yearly fee.
It's generally a fun app to use. Songs were shorter than I remembered from years ago. Down side: it takes the last face you've used for the previews of all the videos that you see when you open the app. Some videos, though comical, are also sexual, and it was uncomfortable to see "myself" doing inappropriate things on videos, or worse yet, my kids, or my Mom. Couldn't see way to opt out of having those videos previewed when I opened the app, so I deleted it.
The app had fun trial features to allure people like me when it was free. After I have paid for 1 year subscription, the paid features are scarce or what you get when you see them as trial are more fun than the paid ones, and occassions like the recent elections and Thanksgiving holiday time today, the app either doesn't offer any card or is freezing constantly. I feel like this is almost a fraud. I want my money back.
Extremely unresponsive, yet resource heavy. Needs a lot of work. Text links stop working with a an error message. UX is really not what it should be. Buttons are not where you expect them to be. Things are not found where they are normally found. You need a good UX designer. The UI is not that bad, but the mediocre UX with frustrating error messages to just get a text link is unacceptable. I paid, and that's fine. But as soon as it runs over I'll spend $ somewhere else. Thanks though.
Until this new update, I loved JibJab. Easy to use. Videos I made always automatically uploaded to Google Photos for easy sharing. Not now, though. I have nothing uploading to Google Photos nor to Amazon photos. Furthermore, the app shows videos I have made, but I cannot view them nor forward them. The only option given by the app is to Delete them, which I don't want to do. Get to work and fix this, guys. Otherwise, I'll be cancelling my account and moving on. I've already missed birthdays.
