DO NOT BUY ANY KAMI OR YI PRODUCTS! They sell you hardware. You cannot use the hardware without purchasing a subscription to an app that collects your data too! This is just out right theft! Edited: Newest updates for non subscriptions: 1) Live viewing limited to 180 seconds 2) HD Live viewing has now been moved to require a subscription 3) Additional ads forcing you to click more to get to live viewing The software is restricting the cameras more and more with every update.
I got this with Cove, and have used it on/off for several years. the camera works just fine, but the App and service have progressively gotten worse. I used the free version just fine for awhile, then to see who actually rang your doorbell, you had to have a subscription. Now there are ads just to see the live stream 😕 It's nearly impossible to get a real person - all responses are copy/pasted and/or bot. If you want to cancel the subscription or get a refund of any kind, you get a run-around.
When I bought the cameras, I didn't have commercials all the time, and now I can't quickly check my cameras without pop-ups crashing my app. it was much better before Yi was bought by Kami. don't ever buy these products. Every time I use them, I regret the purchase. between the pop-ups and time limits, they no longer are useful. definitely is not what I was buying years ago. I wish I could give less than one star!
absolute garbage. cameras were originally through my cove alarm system. they discontinued service and abdicated their responsibility to this garbage outfit. any time you want to check in on cameras, you're bombarded with ads. now, they want to charge extra for viewing the feed. I world not recommend them to my worst enemy. if I could give less than one star, i would.
DON'T BUY! I used to be able to watch motion from the onboard SD cards. they have changed the software so you can't even view the SD card recordings without a subscription. Now they have even limited my live view to 60 seconds without a subscription. these cameras are completely USELESS without a subscription, and that was changed after I bought the cameras. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! These cameras are USELESS without a subscription.
The recently introduced ads are the downfall of this app. This goes along with a paid product (camera, baby monitor, etc) and a subscription, but recently ads were intoduced, that are not only unskippable, but also highly irrelevant as well. This one downfall makes an entire app that was fairly useable and reliable into a complete chatoic mess. The new update took away >90 second viewing for non-subscription - absolutely crucial for the baby monitor variant. I would go 0 stars if possible.
The ads on this have made it pretty much unusable. It takes a long time to load up when starting the app, then there's usually an ad, which is pretty hard to skip (the "x" button is frequently covered by some element of the ad itself, so it thinks you clicked the ad and not the close button). When you finally manage to close it, it again takes some time to load home screen. Then when viewing the camera, sometimes there's a pop-up ad that opens on the browser, closing the camera app.
This camera was great, at first. Then it stopped notifications. I have spent weeks trying to contact the supposedly 24/7 help line, I pay extra for the subscription. There is no help! Contacting this company is impossible. The system doesn't work, my mom has fallen multiple times without any notifications from kami. I am forced to cancel subscription and call credit card company for refunds since it stopped working. No customer service
I can't use this app anymore. Looking for a different camera app. I can't stand having an ad pop up when I pull up the cameras. Can never see what happened because of the delay in time. Doesn't record all the time. Cannot go back and see the motion sensor video. This app will need a lot of improvement or it will lose customers to another company.
all bad. when you need to see the video feed right now you get an ad. watch the feed for longer than they like and the controls go crazy or don't work. hope you didn't need to see what you where watching and track whatever threat or robber you where watching to keep safe, cause kami has THEIR back panning the camera away and making you unable to pan back.. F you kami why should you have to pay for an app to operate something you bought. edit: the more I use it the more I HATE IT, total garbage.
I would like a refund. I paid for these products. there are so many ads, some of which cannot be closed even when they show buttons to close them, requiring restarting the application and trying again. this is supposed to be a security application not a time wasting application. buy other security devices. don't give them your money. update reply: I've already paid. I don't want a subscription. I don't want a discount. I want a functioning product as advertised and paid for. this is despicable.
The app ads are obnoxious on this and the Yi Home App (which appears to be the same same app with different branding). Full screen ads at startup. The skip / x button that appears doesn't work or takes you to the product page anyway. No real option to actually skip them other than to wait. This even happens when opening an alert from the app. I already paid for cams. I am not interested in a subscription so the comment reply to get a deal on one won't help this. Fixing the app will.
Somethings to think about when you are considering a KAMI camera. You will have to buy a subscription, we had used the free version because we had some promotion when we first downloaded it and it was great. Once the update happened it is so horrible, ads are long and take forever, I have had it open on small screen to multitask and it never loads correctly. I don't understand how after buying the item we still have to buy an app or subscription. Very disappointed!
Used to work well, have used their cameras and the app for years, have bought a lot of their cameras. Now, it is garbage, always trying to up sell you, and after the most recent update, they have added ads! Edit: to respond to the developer, no, I don't want a discount on an ad free plan. I want to use the products I paid for without having to constantly be up-sold when I open the app to check my cameras.
This company just gets worse and worse. First the amount of time you could view alerts without a cloud subscription now ads everytime I use the app. I guess the cheaper price in the beginning came with a higher price in the end. Usability is no longer there that made me purchase originally. Please do not respond with offering a discount on a service I do not want. Will be switching the rest of my cameras to reolink.
Horrendous business structure absolutely bombarding loyal customers with ads!!!!!!! I have to step through 3-5 ads before I can get access to my cameras through the app. Worst of all, the ads are designed so that even when you hit the X to close it still takes you to the vendor! I am actively searching for new cameras. Buyers beware, this company has taken a turn for the worse.
Between kami and yi home cameras, these full screen pop up ads that you can't close because they make the "x" impossible to click without opening the ad. I'll be looking for other cameras after having these for over 6 years with no problems. They're forcing you to purchase their subscription even though you're using a memory card. Totally abysmol app!
It's impossible to opt out of automatic payments on this appt. It saves your bank card information to keep charging you even after you try canceling, and the canceling never starts. Only auto payments continue. It used to be simpler, but the app changed now. It's impossible. I would never invest in these cameras again! Communication sucks. IMPOSSIBLE TO TALK TO A LIFE PERSON! CANCELING SUBSCRIPTION IS IMPOSSIBLE! HELLO!
I have been trying since 2/5/2025 to get in contact with someone via email. Only thing I have received is a request number, NO RESPONSE. The app is worthless the chat feature only goes to cancel your subscription. That should be a hint. You would think they would actually have a customer service number you can reach out to with issues. They must want people to just cancel and not get the issue fixed.
Junk. Camera only records a quarter of the time. Got it set for motion detection and unless you are as slow as a turtle, it ain't gonna record. The app NEVER lets me know that I have movement until I actually GET ON the app! You have to pay a monthly fee for it to save the activity and it's on THEIR cloud service, not yours. You get what you pay for folks. Truly just an all around terrible product.
