KCCI 8 News and Weather

I do NOT like that a loud advertisement comes on as I open up this app! 11/9/2024. It seems that for a while the ads played when the app opened were not as intrusive. But it's terrible now to open the app hoping to read about the news or see the weather forecast, and right off the bat there's an Ad "yelling" at you! I'll have to download a different local station that does not do this. Please change this!!!

I really like KCCI's weather forecast and radar and it was great on the Storm Team 8 app becuase it was solely a weather app. Since they are no longer supporting that app I am forced to use this one if I want to continue to get weather updates from them. I find the weather info on this app clunky to access compared to the previous app, and need to scroll through the news and advertisements before I get to the weather. Extended forecast is also not as detailed (moon phase, sunrise/sunset time).

I am continually having to enter the settings I want for the weather radar map every time I open it up. It used to remember my settings and when I pushed the "view interactive radar" button it would open up like I left it with my settings the way I left it. Not anymore though. Also, when I press on an article to read it and then press the back button it takes you clear back to the beginning of the news feed. I must then scroll through all the articles to get to where I left off. Very annoying!!

KCCI used to have a great weather app. It's now part of the news app and the weather section is mostly useless. Radar does not pin or show your location and is not truly interactive as it was before. They no longer keep their weather videos up to date. All I want is a good weather app with just the weather!

Just updated it today and have had issues already with the app. Can't even view my interactive radar and keeps kicking me out of articles while I'm in the middle of reading them. Wish the news articles would also be updated on a daily basis as reading the same thing over and over doesn't work for getting the best and most up to date news. Love KCCI but have been thinking about switching to a news source that is actually up to date on the news and not 2 weeks late as it is on here.

Do not like this app for weather. Would rather use the old weather app. It gave more weather info and better quality weather reports. Please keep the weather old app going. The news part of this app needs a lot of work. You shouldn't have to listen to a 30 second add before you can hear the story you want to listen to. Should have an option to skip add after 5 to 7 seconds. Have not liked this news app for a long time.

Any chance you could create a radio button for the amount of history the radar has with options such as full, two hours, one hour, thirty minutes so that we don't waste so much data and time checking a storm coming in. It's not really necessary to see 6 hours of storms scrolling through when you just want to see how a storm is approaching your neighborhood.

I downloaded the app during a severe weather event so I could continue listening to the local weather while evacuating my family to a safe space. Before I could access the app, I was forced to answer a long series of questions from a chat bot regarding my app preferences with no obvious way to skip it. This made it impossible to quickly access the information I needed while trying to manage an emergency situation, forcing me to switch to YouTube.

Changeing my review from 1 star to 1 star. The aplication is just too impractical to have anymore. Over the period of 3 months the app would not work. OVER 90% of the time you WILL get a error saying unable to connect. I have tried with two other phones from diffrent brands. And yes i tried useing wifi only or data only and also combo with toggling location services on the phones.You actually have better chances of dieing from COVID than this app working. Ya... i did that math...

I wish you'd update the stories and weather on the app. The pictures at the bottom of your app have been there since last year. And the "live" weather is the 9oclock weather. We'd like the 10oclock weather. Also, take the ribbon of the bottom of the screen in bed weather. We can't see the bottom counties. thank you

Miss the old weather only app!! Wouldn't mind this new app if I could have the same features. Miss the dots for locations on the maps. It's great I can still ste up my location but I miss having the dot so I know exactly when I am and what I should expect for weather in that exact location. Also miss the ease of opening the weather app and having the radar pop up, not I have to navigate to the weather section

I used chromecast to watch kcci on my T.V from this app for a couple year's, with no problems. I don't know what happened, but it will no longer cast to my T V. As of last week. My chromecast is up to date and working fine with all my other apps. The problem is 100% with the kcci app. Until there is an update (casting issue fixed) I've Uninstalled it!

would give 0 stars if possible. very intrusive ads when trying to access things like radar or storm information. don't use if you might need to know if you're in a dangerous weather pattern quickly. literally, the ads on radar take up half the screen with no option to minimize. horrible UI.

Have to watch a 30 second ad for everything you click on. And all the ad videos play instantly and clear. News or weather videos don't play half the time. They just sit there buffering. Other news station app is going to get a trial now. This is ridiculous

I use this app a lot to keep up on local stores. I also use who 13 and we are Iowa. I do but like that kcci does not let me turn off topic specific stories unlike the other local stations. I want to turn off sports push notifications and about to delete this app because of how many there are. Please add an option for this.

KCCI used to be my "go to" for all relevant news, locally and nationally. However, this app SUCKS (evident in their rating and # of users that hasn't changed for years). As it would be redundant to list all my gripes, I'll settle on the most irritating: BREAKING NEWS. 'Breaking News' is NOT updates on previously reported articles, nor is it average news stories. C'mon... If we have the app we're going to use it; therefore, WE WILL SEE THE UPDATED STORY (and the misc 🙄 Breaking News).

You can find links to stories here, and that's OK, but BEWARE THE LIVE STREAM BUTTON! The last time I clicked it, it made me watch seven (7!!!) ads, and then wait through 15 seconds of silent black screen -- nearly 2 minutes -- before it actually showed the live stream. That makes the feature worse than useless.

1. Radar always starts centered on DesMoines not your selected location. Should automatically be centered on your selected location. 2. Radar Key has to be turned on each time you enter App. 3. Warning Alerts for Tornada/Severe, Flood and Winter have to be turned on each time to enter App. Once you select them they should stay on until you turn them off. 4. Wind speed and direction should be shown on Hourly Forecast. 5. Why are the older weather video for day?

I enjoy the app. I do not enjoy the loud notification. Especially late at night. I tried to silent notifications and it goes back to default immediately. I have to uninstall until I know that is fixed. This app has woke me up too many times

the ads are out of control and the annoying pop up agreement keeps popping up even if you agree to term. can't look at the weather radar because an ad takes up a third of the screen.
