If I could give a zero, I would. I saw an ad for this app and it gave the impression that it was free with an option to purchase for more. The truth is, the app is not free. You can absolutely get a free seven day trial for setting up a new account, but after that you have to subscribe to access virtually anything. While I appreciate the appeal of this app, I am not paying for you to paraphrase a book for me. The "value" created by this app is overshadowed by the cost. Uninstalled immediately.
It's timely and financially efficient, one can read up to 14 books a day that may cost up to 200$ in less than 6 hours with only 8$ a month. However, I am a kind of a person who feels an achievement in finishing a whole book, so this concise form isn't for me.One thing though, I wish the downloaded books would be played like a playlist, pulling up while driving(on commute) to play the next book isn't ideal. Unfortunately, I'll unsubscribe and delete because I can't pay for monthly subscription.
most of the content requires a pricy subscription. but that's not my main gripe with this app. my main complaint is that there are a bunch of mistakes in grammar, spelling, etc in the koobs. a lot of the time the writing is just plain awful. given their main selling point is a bunch of summaries of books (i.e. the koobs), the low quality of the free koobs I've sampled make me feel completely unconvinced that I should pay to access the rest of them.
I think this app serves a purpose but it's not for everyone. People who are not into reading books and wants things straight to the point then this is a great app and worth the 7.99/a month. They don't have much now but I like the variety of categories it had from politics to finance. They take a lot of popular books and defluff them. However I do like reading books and reading the condensed version takes away the author's personality and makes it harder to retain info (at least for me).
"...My point is, reduce your price, provide subscription options (such as monthly), or provide an alternative wherein people can use your app for free in exchange of watching ads." Update / Reply to the developer's comment: it's not that I don't want to pay. In fact, I believe that great apps like this should be supported. It's just too expensive, at least for me. Anyway, I wish you all the best and good luck! 😊
Good idea. Almost executed well. If I had an option to change the voices it would be great. I just can't listen to Isabelle Pinard (and Molli McConnell to a lesser extent) ending every sentence with the same 'up-down-up-down' tone. They read out so many of the books that I've had to skip most of them. I paid for the first month. Cancelled before the second.
You don't get but a 7-day free trial. The makers of this app should make that clear. You only find this out after creating an account an giving your email address. Am to delete your account, you need to write them an email, adding a specific part of the GDPR law (that they provide), as if only by writing that in your email the request becomes valid. Very dissatisfied. I don't even want to use my 7 day free trial.
The audio performances are *CRINGE-WORTHY*, especially given the price that you are paying for the pleasure of listening to them... No, thank you. Its a good concept, but I do not have enough time to read and can only listen to the articles whilst I do other things, so with the horrid reading quality, the experience is completely RUINED, and I cannot justify such an extortionate price for such poor quality product. Good luck with your concept, though. I hope it improves!
In app purchases - misleading when said in app purchases are for a monthly or annual subscription fees which need to be paid to access for more than 7 days. This should be made clear BEFORE the app is downloaded, as it's just a piss off to download and install the app only to find it costs a minimum of $93.99 to use for 12 months. Waste of time.
I like the idea of this app but decided it wasn't for me. Be Careful! I cancelled during my free trial. But I keep getting emails & messages telling me I have to update my details so the payment will go through! Even months after I uninstalled app! And the messages say they have attempted to process the payment but it failed to go through. Again, this is months after I cancelled & uninstalled app!
Pretty mediocre. I feel like I was listening just to people saying nothing in a lot of words. The subscription is way too expensive fo4 the quality of the content you get. You find more things by eatching a free youtube video about the subject. The idea of the app is amazing but it lacks actually helpful content. Foe the info you get from the 20 min audios it could be shortened in 10, if not 5 minutes most of the times. Bot sure I will ever use this app in the future again.
Awful app, far too many personal questions before you even start. No notification that you have to pay for it before you have already provided personal details. Deleted it immediately so will never know if it's just a way to discover my interests so that it can supply the information to advertisers... No! Thanks!!
I'm a paid user and I really like the app. I've read about 6 koobs this month and gained the essential knowledge of some quite thick books in no time. Buying all 6 books and reading them in a month would have been expensive and very time consuming. The app is broken however and needs fixing. I have to tap 'read' multiple times before the app registers my tap and starts the koob and also the app crashes every single time without fail when I press the 'finish' button when I complete a koob.
What free version? I read the description then reviews. Saw a review - 'once you download the app you have to subscribe to access books'. You responded - 'try the free version'. I search play store, cant find one called koober free so thought it might be inside. So downloaded the app. There is a 7 day trial which I have to submit payment for prior to receiving it. Not going to happen, already got ripped off my other companies doing this & still charging. Can't access free version inside
Not impressed at all. Especially for the cost. Free trial didn't spark any sense of, "I need this app". Can download a book, opt to read instead of listen, and the listen has nothing to do with what you're reading. The books offered are not that eye catching at all. This isn't for me.
I wanted to try the 7 day trial and then if I liked it then take advantage of the monthly payment. Unfortunately the app tried to take a full yearly subscription from me straight away TWICE... unsubscribed and deleted, Can't actually tell you what the app is like... it sounds like a great concept but they've got to sort the payment stuff out first.
Was curious about the app and currently giving their subscription free trial a go. I have been enjoying the experience, it's nice to get information packed in small bite sizes, feel like i'm learning alot in short amount of time and being able to retain alot of the information. It's interesting and fun. Although I do hope they continue to span their library of koobs.
Just what I've needed! First of all, I love reading and always opt to read the bitesized books rather than listen to them, but even for an avid reader, Koober provides a lovely condensed version with only the most important information from each book. Then if you're particularly awestruck you can buy the full book. I've completed my first Koober course this morning and loved it. I will definitely be signing up to the premium version soon!
It's not about in app purchases. I found that I have to start a 7 days trial to read or listen to any book. Even the replies here to feedbacks are not true. If we can read one per week, we shouldn't have seen the message that we must start a 7 days trial and then be automatically charged.
Been using for a week, not sure how I feel about it yet. I listen while I drive and noticed that if I arrive and turn off my car, when I go back in to open the app back up my book is restarted from the beginning and I have to either consciously look at what minute and second I'm at before closing it or just guess to where I was at. This is frustrating, but manageable I guess, I'll just begin to take note of where I was before shutting down my car, can be annoying if I'm rushing to meet a client.
