Design foundations

The foundation of any level maker rests on the intuitiveness of its interface and the accessibility of its tools. A strong foundation allows users of all skill levels to quickly grasp the core mechanics and begin creating.

  • Foundation Strength: Ease of use is paramount.
  • Accessibility: Tools should be readily available and understandable.

Structure elements

The structure of a level editor is defined by the hierarchy of its menus, the organization of its assets, and the overall layout of the workspace. A well-structured editor promotes efficiency and reduces user frustration.

Pros
  • Clear menu organization
  • Logical asset categorization
  • Customizable workspace
Cons
  • Cluttered interface
  • Difficult-to-find assets
  • Lack of customization options

Experience blueprints

The experience a level maker provides is determined by the feedback it offers, the flexibility it allows, and the overall sense of empowerment it instills in the user. A good blueprint encourages experimentation and rewards creativity.

Real-time Feedback

Immediate visual feedback on level changes is crucial for iterative design.

Space organization

The spatial arrangement of elements within the level editor's interface impacts the user's workflow. Thoughtful organization minimizes distractions and maximizes screen real estate for the level being created.

Element Optimal Placement Rationale
Toolbar Top or side Easy access to common tools
Asset Browser Side or bottom Provides ample space for viewing assets
Viewport Center Main focus of the user

Flow patterns

User flow within the editor should be seamless and intuitive. The path from concept to creation should be clear, with minimal obstacles or unnecessary steps. A smooth flow enhances productivity and encourages exploration.

Workflow Efficiency

A streamlined workflow is essential for maintaining user engagement and preventing frustration. The flow needs to be analyzed to determine how efficient the level design experience truly is.

Overall design value

The ultimate value of a level maker lies in its ability to empower users to create engaging and compelling experiences. By combining a strong foundation, a well-structured interface, and a seamless workflow, a level maker can unlock the creative potential of its users.

Final Thoughts

The success of a level maker depends on its ability to balance power and accessibility. A complex toolset is useless if it's too difficult to use. Simplicity and intuitiveness create a more efficient process.

The music, the designs, and all of it is perfect, except the character movement. The player have lack of gravity to stay in the air longer, which makes it impossible to dodge anything. Also, I don't prefer to hold the jump button to double jump. I would rather tap it twice. The whole thing is good, but the player movement needs improvement.

It's a fine app to use. It's a fun and strange Mario ripoff, especially for Super Mario Maker. I like the game music because it's a classic sound. The only thing I am mad about is that it gets repetitive fast, especially for the game 'challanges,' and there is a bug. There is a bug when I lose a life. Usually, an ad pops up, which is not my issue. My issue with that is when the ad is over, there is a high chance it freezes, so I have to restart the app again.

A fun game overall, but the controls are rough. There are experimental improved controls that work better, but sometimes it doesn't move the direction you press. Music could be better, as well as not having the zappers in the title screen. Still, it is a lot of fun, with a good degree of customization! I think with a bit more polish, this will be amazing!
