I bought a new LG television 3 weeks and downloaded this app as a means to access the features. The mirroring feature seems to be jittery but that problem is probably related to my internet connection. I also have not been able to figure how to send the audio from my tv to my mobile phone so I can hear the tv through my wired headphones. It's one of the most frustrating apps I've come across, and YES my tv and phone are both using the same wifi network.
The app is honestly quite useless. The only good feature is the reminder to clean the oven. Diagnostics are a joke. It didn't register anything wrong when we had issues. It has a remote start option, but you have to physically push the button on the oven to turn it on, then once you're out of range of your wifi, it won't work, so what's the point? It registers hundreds of fridge door openings in a small time frame in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping and refuses to stay connected to app
App hasn't worked with my LG Smart TV properly in months. Now it just doesn't at all. Log out and back in, remove and re add device, uninstall and reinstall- it doesn't matter. It works once after the initial "fix" and then maybe once in 70 or 80 interaction attempts on a good shot, more than 150 on a bad. Never mind the shoddy alerts/updates from other devices that might come through hours after it's already been dealt with. I liked it at first, now I'm trying to find literally anything else.
I've had this tv and app for about two years, never had much of an issue. Recently got a new phone and logged in to the app to find my device missing. so that's fine, I know how to add it back up. Click add device, tv, then it loads and gives up. I've tried uninstalling app, trying a different phone which has always had the app and worked, and same thing: device is gone. Tried it on there thinking it's just a phone issue, still loaded and gave up. Updated tv, same issue.
this app is absolutely terrible - it was definitely designed by people who have no idea what they are doing. for the remote, the touchpad is default (Nobody wants to use a mouse cursor to select things on their TV) and when you switch to the normal arrows, it switches back automatically, closes all the time, doesnt remember where it was, sometimes it's too sensitive, other times it doesn't work at all, and it takes forever to connect to the TV, and sometimes loses connection. aweful. worthless.
Truly a terrible experience. Used as a remote for the TV, it always defaults to a weird "touchpad" simulation that moves a mouse on your screen. No matter how many times I set it to the d pad, it reverts to the touchpad when I go to the app. Even if it was not closed. When the app is selected, sometimes the remote is still there (yay!), then as you try to click it, it disappears. The app constantly forgets the TV is on causing long delays when you want to control the TV, even if you just were.
What happened?! After this last update the ONE THING I do with this app I cannot access easily at all. The app starts and immediately freezes. I can't scroll. I can't select anything. I have to force stop the app, reload, and then I can (usually) scroll to the one feature I use. This change definitely wasn't for the better for this user.
This app used to be amazing. Everything was simple and easy to use. But months ago it completely flipped and it's became worthless. It used to connect to my TV with ease and now it doesn't recognize my TV at all. Says I'm not connected to the same network on my TV and mobile device. I used to recommend everyone to buy a LG device. Now I will tell people to avoid LG if they can. Terribly upsetting how something can go from so great to absolute garbage.
I really like this in the beginning it definitely does work but it only works for me smoothly for the first couple weeks and then I don't know it got buggy and it's very slow and also doesn't always connect. it also disconnects from my TV like while I'm actively watching it sometimes and while I'm actively using the actual app sometimes. the most frustrating thing about this for me though is when it does disconnect trying to get it to reconnect ends up turning off my TV.
Frustrating experience. Half of the time, this app does not load at all. The other half, I can't use it to control my TVs because they're "not connected to the same network" - my TVs are hard wired to the router, and my phone is connected to the exact same network. But nooo, it wants me to connect to the extender in my office instead and then it *still* doesn't give remote control. What a joke of an app. Makes about as much sense as the forced CoPilot install (that you cannot remove) on the TV
$1800 TV and can't even use it because of this stupid app!!!! the app constantly crashes and sometimes the volume gets stuck and goes out of control either to 100 or 0 which is insane..... LG is a horrible company they need to fix their app!!!!!!! then they do server maintenance so you can't even use your remote when you get home....... I highly recommend any other app! 😂
Have an LG OLED C5 and an S95TR soundbar in the app. It worked fine for a few days and now shows the soundbar not connected to wifi, although it is working properly. I have done power restarts several times, cleared cache in the app, force stopped and restarted the app and it still shows the soundbar not connected. Customer service is a several hour wait, if your lucky. Extremely frustrating.
With the most recent update, now you can't even control the volume remotely, not without an advanced degree, and I have one. this most recent update has gone backwards LG not forwards. Voice control with no manual volume control is NOT an improvement. This app has one purpose. To function as a remote. It can't even perform that function. I'm sure it could help me buy 20 new LG devices That's great could it please actually serve as principal role which is to remotely control my devices.
constantly disconnects from my TV and/or can't find it. if I do get it working, as soon as my screen shuts off, chances are I'll have to wait for the app to reconnect... often times I need to close the app and reload. trying to use the private listening feature... it's incredible how horrible it is, it's like talking to someone around the world in 2000. the controls seem like they were made but never used by actual users. do some product testing across devices, please 🥺
So so... The app lets me know when wash/ dry cycles are completed from the washer/ dryer. Beyond that, it provides me with little helpful info. My drain pump failed last month on an 8 year old washer. The apps monthly report stated no drain issues in the past month. I know the app can do more than I use it for, but being it can not tell me when the machines have issues, its usefulness is limited. Edit: it just gets worse. Done with LG!
As someone who absolutely loves LG and has multiple LG products from TVs to Soundbars to their headsets, this is the worst LG product by far. Not only does the apps connection to TVs suck, I have to relaunch the app 3 times for the remote to function without closing back to the tv menu every .5 seconds. while the overall look of the user interface has gotten alot better, the functionality has taken a turn from bad to worse.
I would have previously given this app a 3 or 4, but now it's a 1 star. The main reason I use this app is for the remote or washer and dryer. I haven't used it in a while bcuz I moved and haven't needed too, but now trying to use the remote on the app to control and change some settings and it's unusable. You can hit settings, but there's nothing on the app to move through the settings. PLEASE go back to a normal looking remote and give us our features back.
We just got an LG Washer and Dryer set and I was excited that it had wifi capability. But it doesn't appear like I can actually control anything with the app. I can't set the dryer to tumble if the laundry has been done for a little while. I can't do a delayed wash cycle through the app. All it does is give me information about the units and tell me when they are done. My GE had much more functionality in their app.
I use the app so I can listen to programs privately through my hearing aids. Usually when I try to use the app, the background is gray meaning it's not available. I've done all kinds of things like unistalling the app and reinstalling, unplugging the TV to reboot. I'm really fed up with it. Too bad. The TV works great otherwise. Think LG just needs to do some work on this. Life's too short to get frustrated with poor working electronics.
This used to be a perfectly usable and even beneficial app. Being able to control my tv through my phone was really convenient, to the point where when the batteries in my actual remote died, I just used my phone rather than buy batteries. With the most recent update, that i can only imagine was greenlit by the most incompetent individuals, they took away the directional functionality on the in app remote. This makes a good percentage of apps I use completely unnavigable.
