Mantis Laser Academy is a fun and convenient way to practice firearms training. There are people that would say the money would be better spent on ammo, but I would disagree. It is a good way to build skills and/or proficiency. This is because it requires very little time, meaning most people can use it daily. Then when you go to the range you can focus training on specifics.

I got this as a Christmas gift, in the first 4 days of me using the laser academy dry fire system I've "shot" 2000 rounds. My initial thoughts are this thing is fun! I've had a blast running the drills and courses and really challenging myself. I can honestly tell a difference in my trigger control already. That being said, the app has it short comings. I have had many issue's mostly during the pistol marksmanship course and test causing a crash or me having to restart the app to continue.

I am very excited about Mantis laser training academy. I can already tell the way I'm moving as I squeeze the trigger that I pull to the right some when I'm squeezing the trigger. on the range with the recoil it's hard to understand exactly what I'm doing wrong. this is a great way for me to save money on ammo while becoming a much better marksman. lastly, the variety of drills targets and other things like that related to training keeps it fresh and keeps it from getting boring.

Great at first. Hit or miss, now. Worked flawlessly the first week I had it. Now, when the buzzer sounds to shoot, the camera automatically adjusts, causing the "moving" error message. This keeps your shots from being tracked until the camera re-adjusts. Meanwhile, the timer is still running, which defeats the purposes of the drills. Playing with the shades, lighting, or background, can sometimes help, but the app can be temperamental.

Not good so far... Shots randomly firing. With app open and ready to shoot, shots just randomly happen. Shot count goes up, but no score. Tried different lighting, distance, phone, with/without red dot, no laser in room,... Not sure what is going on! Will have to wait until after holiday to contact support. While writing this review 36 shots registered on app and the gun is laying on the table covered and not pointing at targets.

Its a good way to train your grip, trigger control, aim, also saves on ammo. There are glitches. Sometimes it marks on the target, but I never shot. Other times, it adjusts and doesn't mark my shots. Idk if its the app or the laser cartridge, but either way its annoying. Other than that, its a good training method.

super cool. I wish they would give more free courses. I bought the lasers for multiple guns I bought the black beard for the ar. like show some love to your customers. I just want a little more to do without out constantly spending more money. like even give us some free weekends to try this stuff out and show us what we're missing. do like xm radio does and give a free holiday weekend to temp us to buy it. sometimes you don't know what you're missing until you try it. Just saying

I've tried all the laser training apps. iTarget Pro, GSight, LaserHit. Mantis X Laser Academy is BY FAR the best, most accurate, most polished, and user friendly laser training apps on the market. I wish it were a bit cheaper for the full version, but it's honestly well worth it. Setup is super easy. There are tons of training modes and targets, even training games.

The app fails to recognize smart targets. It works pretty well with manual targets. I'll try different lighting conditions and more background contrast, but these are not horrible conditions right now. They should be more than sufficient for the app to pick up the target as I can clearly see the reflectors on the camera and they stand out well.

The app is good for the most part. I recently upgraded to a full pro account. One draw back is the shutter speed. The app will not capture faster than 1/60th of a second. I don't know if this is a limitation of the camera, the software. It means you can't shoot in any room with a modicum light. I often need to dim our lights to prevent accidental shots registering. As a photographer, I understand how a camera meters. It would be ideal if the app could get to 1/100 or 1/200 shutter.

Still needs work. I have the full Laser Academy targets and equipment, and have even Mastered the 1 course they have available right now, but getting the camera to both register shots & not register anomalous shots is daunting. Unlike the other apps designed for the X series Mantis sensors, they didn't include deleting seasons or individual shots. I've noticed that the camera doesn't like to actually get into focus. There is definite plausibility for greatness, and I know they can do it.

Android version keeps crashing. I spent hundreds of dollars on equipment so that I would be able to use this app for its full training benefits and it just crashes every time I open it. I can't even go buy the lifetime membership without it crashing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. I have enough memory space and processing power. Not happy. How do I get a copy of the log to have someone review it?

I generally like this app but its very low quality for the price they ask. I've been using it every day for about a week now. The target system works pretty well and pretty consistently as long as the lighting is ok which is great. Getting feedback on your shots is awesome and helps with dry fire traing a lot. If you want to track your progress or you want a clean polished app look elsewhere. Great if you JUST want a dry fire aid.

Had this product for a week & am disappointed. Here's why: 1) The longer tripod will not stay in position. I tried to tape it in the position wanted-it still slides downward. 2) The mount that holds my phone is almost impossible to get in the correct position & hold still. 3) The mini red tripod fell apart without me using it! One of the legs came off. I thought it would simply screw back in, nope. 4) Using the app the first few times was decent, not anymore. Not enough room to write finish...

Best in class app! Kudos to the dev team at Mantis! I love the smart targets, and I love progress/history is tracked, and synchronized to the website. If you're taking wishlist requests I have 2: 1. It would be awesome to see a grouping functionality that tracks size of group from various distances. 2. It would be awesome to have a unified app that combines both the the laser trainer and the MantisX.

Overall, this is an awesome tool. I am having issues with shot detection on one target, where when I hit one circle that is placed in the bottom corner of the target, it registers that I hit the bar code in the corner, when the shot is correctly detected in the circle. I can't get any further in the course because of it. I have tried recalibrating the laser and it is still happening. Frustrating.

Glitchy app, needs more software QA. Good training and pretty fun despite the glitches. Sometimes tapping on a drill will play the sound, but won't launch the drill. You'll have to force quit the app. Sometimes the score screen will stay on the screen and hitting a Control target won't start the next round. Again, you'll have to force quit the app. I'm using a pixel 6.

My 1st time trying the system out. Did 3 rounds with the standard bullseye target & Glock 17 Gen 3. Definitely a good way to experiment with my two different prescriptions; grip variations; etc. Using my Galaxy S21 5G Ultra, had to set at 6 feet (or closer). Otherwise, the app didn't want to lock in on the "smart" target. I'll have to fiddle with that problem some more. Had to press "start" and then step back to my 7 yard distance to shoot. Some work on leveraging great cameras is indicated.

Great training tool , just use with care and safety. the pink rhino laser heads of laser are sometimes faulty and finicky, as well as needing name brand batteries, I have had x2 bad heads of laser. Overall, it's not bad. needing to rack every time is a hidderance, and it will get u into bad habits, so stay on target after your shot for a few seconds and pull uncocked trigger to simulate real-world shooting. Def recommend 👌. dry fire is needed, and this is better than anything else u will find.

Great app. I upgraded to the paid Pro version. Works perfectly with downloaded and printed Mantis targets. Helps to have adjustable lighting, can get false shots if too bright. Wish it measured group sizes and not just scores. I mounted my targets on foam core and hang them with Command hooks. Makes it super easy to set up and swap targets.
