I understand delays happen. That part I can live with. What I can’t live with is the complete breakdown of communication afterward. Tracking disappeared, then returned as “delayed” with no ETA. But now I can’t adjust the next box, can’t plan meals, and risk ending up with excess food and waste because I have no idea when this one will arrive. The red line for me is customer support. The phone number simply disconnects. Not busy. Not hold music. Just… gone. so I'm going too.
The way the food arrives makes it extremely difficult. All of the little items and sauces are difficult to find a place for. There are no recipe cards so you have to use the app, but figuring out what is what is difficult. No clear instructions, labels thst show what goes with what meal. I spend more time trying to figure that out then I would just shopping for myself. Not a fan.
The recipes are different, with some random ingredients. The prep is ridiculous, don't expect these meals to be a time or money saver. If you really want to make meals like this, you're better off getting a recipe and going to the store to get all the ingredients instead of some of them as these boxes require. The app is the same as Dinnerly (same company). It does not allow you to pick and choose the weeks you want, you have to skip each week or risk receiving meals you don't like.
Cannot view recipe cards for yellow (packing) upcoming recipes in the app. Recipe cards are not clickable and you therefore cannot see required ingredients and supplies or nutritional information in addition to the recipe. Must be a code issue with locking down meal selection when too close to the ship date. Will revise review once corrected. Edit: as an early adopter, I will cancel if I keep getting notifications for advertising. I PAY FOR THIS SERVICE, DON'T ADVERTISE TO ME.
It was good then items were getting smashed or came open along the way. Missing ingredients started occurring, fine so be it but it started becoming more often. What did it for me was not getting my box at all with no explanation/response OR getting my box days later where the meat went bad the box is leaking and it was all just for the garbage at that point. Very disappointing. I had been a customer for years upon years with zero response at this time. I'll take my money and hunger elsewhere.
I really liked the menu options, the freshness of the meat and veggies. But after contacting customer service, about the very important issue of either NOT getting the right ingredients, or missing ingredients (like the meat or a veggie) for a meal; or either missing recipe cards or getting the wrong ones, I cancelled the account. I understand a mistake every now and then, but this was becoming a regular thing. I warned them if it happened again they'd lose a customer. It happened again.
We've tried several prepped meal services and this is my favorite by far. Lots of recipe variety and most are a cut above other meal services. We had a shipment arrive late and out of temp, and were promptly refunded. No other problems. App is easy to use. I'm an accomplished cook and some of the recipe directions can be hard to follow and appear disorganized or just need more user-friendly formatting. Overall very good.
We love trying new food boxes and decided to give this one a try. We are so disappointed and will not be ordering it again. Only one of the recipes had all of the ingredients we needed, the rest were missing one or more things. The delivery itself came a day late, thank goodness it's winter or it might have gone bad. When contacting customer support, they offered credits towards our next box. We don't want another box so I had to chat with someone about what to do. They offered a $13 refund only
I love Marley Spoon! The variety of meals is outstanding. I'm particularly pleased that I can further customize the recipes. I'm a fantastic cook, but don't always have time to plan my meals ahead, and I love to try new ethnic cuisines, but don't want to invest in spices or odd ingredients without knowing I'll like it. I cook just for myself and choose two meals per week and occasionally add a third. Perfect!
For the past 6 months, I have only been able to log in from my browser but not the app. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, quadruple checked that I am using the same username and password, and have contacted customer support 3 times. No one was able to help me. They would respond once but would never follow up when I told them what they suggested did not work. I finally ended my subscription and deleted the app. So frustrating!
My first meals came today. Artichokes and spinach. I thought it would be awful. But it was great! It dirtied three pans, three plates and six small ingredients dishes as well as three chopping blocks, one for vegies and two for Poundings chicken, because it is messy to pound chicken. In the end it was really good. It took me 45 minutes. I don't even like artichokes, at least I didn't think I did. But this was good. Not sure it was worth twenty five dollars for two...maybe?
App fine. Meals not as expected... If you're a great chef and want to prepare everything, then this may be your thing. If you want your food cut, measured and ready to cook, this is not it! I love the Amazon Boxes, but they don't deliver to me. Thought this would be the same. It's not even close. Also experienced late delivery, so when I cancelled right away, I was charged because I was a day late to cancel. Due to their late delivery time.
Not a review on the app, but a review on the company and logistics. Only 2/4 boxes have been delivered. Very unsatisfied. Have never had a shipment delayed or misplaced by any other food subscription box or purchase in my entire life, and here I am dinner less for 2 weeks in a row. Martha would be very disappointed, as am I.
Pros: My stomach has never felt better. I used to have ibs symptoms every day, but those dont happen on days after Marley spoon meals. With my busy schedule I struggled with any kind of balanced diet, and with the boxes I don't have to waste time at the store. They also make me feel full, not stuffed. I'm learning new methods of cooking that have upped my game in the kitchen. Cons: the fast meals aren't as fast if your slow in the kitchen and occasionally the greens are mediocre in quality.
The app works well, but the service itself is not worth the price. Ingredients (when you get all of them) are not always pre measured and recipes that only require "pantry staples" ask for specific things like specialty vinegar or require tools that are not common (who has an immersion blender). It's the highest priced meal kit service but you can get very similar recipes with the same fresh ingredients from Everyplate and Hello Fresh. I would not recommend.
Detailed instructions on how to cook food I never would have tried before on my own. I think I have learned to cook better. Plan on needing longer than it says to make everything....at least it does me. It turns out great. Sometimes I have decided to make different recipes from the items sent. Just depends on my mood & whether I want to go to the extra that it takes to cook like Martha Stewart. just kidding... sometimes I don't want to make it the way the recipe wants you to. I get creative😉
I'm very much looking forward to my first box. I used the web to place my order and was able to look at the recipes, see ingredients needed for each, as well as the instructions. I was very impressed with the variety of meals and how simple the steps looked. I probably wasted 3 hours looking at every single thing. Can't wait! I just decided to download the app for future use and am surprised by all the bad reviews. I really hope that that is not my experience. We shall see!
I started my subscription in April 2025 and loved Marley spoon. However a few months later around September they started making small mistakes, adding rotten vegetables, missing a few ingredients here or there. it was frustrating but I still enjoyed not thinking about what I had to cook each night. Finally around November I started receiving entirely incorrect orders. after sending an email about it and not getting a response I decided to cancel my account.
Terrible customer service. We tried to pause our boxes while we were on vacation, and they sent us a box anyway and charged us for it. We sent a request in to their customer service asking to refund the box and cancel our account, and put another pause on our boxes while we waited for a response. After 2 weeks of no response, we sent in another request. A week later we got a response refusing to refund us, and were just charged $83 for another box this week. We cancelled our account today.
Edit: the reply still isn't satisfactory, it's still a trap. I signed up, didn't see what I wanted(premade meals) and cancelled within 5 mins and I'm supposed to know I have to call to stop you from forcing meals on me? I didn't even confirm the meals. cmon. Predatory business, should have checked reddit first to save myself the grief.
