A vast collection of comics both old and new to delve into nostalgia or catch up on new events regarding my favorite teams/characters. So nice to be able to read entire series instead of hunting down each issue, though I still do enjoy collecting them. Great interface and descriptions for each series, and also event guides. Highly recommended
this app is generational. all my favorite stories, my grails, and new releases are added to an app for less money than going to my shop for two singles. Great investment especially with the portability. and once you pay the ten clams, there are no more pay walls, no tiers, no extra purchases, no limit, all the comics you want from the world's best publisher. 10/10 this is a game changer
stop looking at the negatives! You're talking about a way to have endless comics, no matter how old, all in one app jus for $11 a month! Thats insane value for the amount of comics this has! And nothing is stopping you from still going out and buying actual comics for your collection if you enjoy them enough! You can even go to events and it gives a list of all comics. ex: King in Black shows EVERYTHING from everyone's perspective. No ads too. Yes it has a few downsides nd thats why it gets 4/5
The new version is pretty ugly. Now the 'Continue Reading' list is far down the main screen, unlike how it used to be at the very top and easily accessible. Navigating each comic series is a chore. You have to click the comic you want, click on keep reading, and then click on view full series. All that just to go back even one issue. And the comics load slower than ever.
Finding a series or character is relatively easy. Navigation between pages is simple, as expected.. but what I didn't expect is navigation between the panes, and even portions of larger panels! So, as you're reading the comic, you can actually swipe right through each box/pane/panel if you want. Makes the text easier to read on the phone and you can appreciate every panel to its fullest. Can't speak to a PC or tablet experience, yet.
It takes an extraordinary app to make me follow a review request to the play store. Marvel Unlimited is extraordinary. $10, and more comics than you can read. This beats the hell out of scrolling socials, or the majority of mobile games. There's a free week, set a calendar alarm for 6 days from when you sign up, and see then if it's worth keeping. For me, It is. I'd cancel Netflix over this.
I went to sign my grandson up so he could read the free comics and I could share some of my digital collection with him. They now absolutely require payment via subscription to use the app. I don't have that requirement, I assume because I was grandfathered in from the previous app. It is not worth $10 a month so he can occasionally read a comic. IMHO, the days of free are ending. The economy isn't good enough for needless spending like this. Just stay physical, it's cheaper.
Access to over 30,000 comics! Just what I needed! Why did you guys remove the point system (for instance agent tier). I thought it was really fun to see as I found it more motivational and maybe even exciting to read more comics than I usually do! I still hope you guys add a feature where comic book readers can rate the comic books that they've read on a scale from 1 to 10! Please add a section where I can see all the books I've read! Other than that, I couldn't be happier :)
Why get rid of sorting by year? For those of us who want to read the old comics in order that's no longer an option. Edit: Thank you for bringing back sorting by year. I hope there are plans to add more filters to the sorting menu (by character, series, etc) in future updates. Still not sure why the full sorting originally in the app was taken out, it worked perfectly as it was.
The price is perfect. It's usually about 6 months behind for the new stuff. I use it for the series that I'm interested in, but not enough to get a subscription. But where it really shines is the back catalog. I started at Avengers Disassembled and have been making my way to the present reading every series I'm interested in in release order, multiple X-Men series, multiple Spider-Man series all in order. You can add what you want to a read list, and view it in order.
The new update really is quite bad. My app is crashing often, I can't get any issues to load on certain devices, etc. When it DOES work, the new interface for finding comics is slow and difficult, and essentially entirely independent on searches. My progress reading issues is all lost, the issues in my library are all in the wrong order, and it doesn't save default sorting preferences. Still 2 stars because the service itself is worth 5, but the new app is a hard 0.
The value is solid. But I'm not a subscriber. The old marvel app was shut down and all of my digital library was moved to this app. I can't transition from one book to the next, I have to pull open the drop down, exit, find the next book in the series, click the icon, the click read. Pretty wild they actively choose to have a convoluted interface, especially for a paid subscription service.
A great way to read Marvel comics! The subscription is kinda annoying but I understand it. Having old and new comics being readily available on my phone is super convenient. I only wish that you had better ways to browse. I've tried to find certain runs or issues and it's been kinda a hassle. And if you look for a certain character, you have to scroll through every issue they've been to try to find the one you want. So a great service with a few hiccups but definitely worth the money.
I love marvel unlimited. I love being able to read all the old classic comics, as well as so many new ones. Right now this app is completely broken, and it has been for at least a week now. At first it was just taking forever to load each page, now I can't read anything at all. Update: I uninstalled and redownloaded, it took several tries to log into my account, but comics appear to be loading again, kind of slowly, but it's working.
Works well and great collection. Two downsides I've had are relatively minor; search doesn't always catch all appearances of a character, especially if they started before the 90's and smart pan doesn't always work right with older titles (although it does work for the large majority of titles). Also, I wouldn't use full page, anyways, but it's kinda useless when the pinch zoom resets immediately after zooming in.
Laughably bad. Or it would be if I weren't paying a subscription. It was once ok on a tablet, but the latest version freezes and crashes and takes four steps to do what its predecessor did in one. And they screwed up search, and made new issues clunkier to peruse. Supposedly all to make it work better for phones, which it doesn't do, and who wants to read teeny tiny comics anyway? I won't be renewing my membership if it isn't sorted.
So far I'm loving the app. Huge collection of issues. Searching can be a pain unless you know the exact issue, volume, and release date. I say pain but it's not unbearable. The yearly subscription is a great deal considering the amount of issues in the library. I still prefer physical copies but the app is great for road trips or if you can't find the physical issue for your collection.
I want to start off by saying I do love this app. I can access most comics at anytime as long as i have my phone & good service. On the other hand it was a hassle in the beginning because they give you a free trail even if you choose to create an account & pay upfront. Sometimes even if the app does have the comic it can be difficult to find. Now it's saying to update my payment info & instead of going to my payment of choice they're making me make an entirely new account THAT'S IRRITATING.
Beautiful, easy-to-use interface that allows you to download issues to read while you're on wifi if you don't have unlimited data, and allows you to follow titles and characters to stay caught up. I only wish the website had the same features, because sometimes i like to read on my PC, and struggle to find the books I'm reading there. Please fix the website, so we can seamlessly go from reading on a handheld device to reading on a PC or laptop.
It's amazing for the content and the guided reading on a phone or device. I almost gave 5 stars just for that. The search functions and navigation isn't intuitive, however, and reading events and collections isn't nearly as straightforward as I would expect. There doesn't appear to be a way to read events that span across multiple titles chronologically, instead defaulting to the title only. Meaning you have to go back and forth, sometimes getting lost.
