This charged me $40 without even giving me a ticket. Garbage. And no number to call for service. Idk where all the positive reviews came from but this thing is a scam. Update: The money was refunded 1-2 days later. However, I still think it's easier to just buy a ticket on the train with cash.
I can't rely on this app. Every once in a while it randomly stops accepting any debit cards. Same error. I've checked my cards, with the banks, everything on my end is fine. Last time this happened I had to uninstall and reinstall the app a few times and the error stopped, but that isn't working this time. I emailed last time but honestly it didn't help and I don't want to go though it again. Guess I'm back to buying paper passes at South Station, seems to be the only reliable way.
The interface isn't intuitive, but easy enough to use after you get the hang of it. Payment can be a pain, because the app demands you enter your card's CVV code before every purchase. It would be nice if the app were interoperable with Google Pay the way the iOS version is with Apple Pay.
Menu and Log In buttons are unaccessible (Google Pixel 9) as the menu button is under the notification tray, and the login button on the Ticket Wallet page is hidden by the home, back, and app tray buttons. This means I can't login to view my tickets, or open the Menu at all, meaning the app is completely useless now. It wasn't like this before, so it must have been an update or something that caused it, but this means I will end up having to pay more for tickets than I would with the app.
Getting notifications about delays 10 to 20 minutes after the train was supposed to arrive is useless.
The MBTA mTicket app works well enough, but has one huge problem, for me. On my Pixel 8 Pro, with '3-button navigation' set, mTicket places a button ('View my Account') on the bottom of the screen ON TOP of the three button navigation buttons. As a result, I can never select the mTicket button, no matter how careful I am to try to touch only the mTicket button. I haven't found any Pixel settings that fix this. Web searches have not been helpful, either.
It places very important buttons under where my phones touchscreen buttons are as well as under my battery/notification bar. Are cell phones new to you people? I almost couldn't "skip" past the stupid new notification about the flex 5 day ticket thing, i had to take my phone case off and tap that spot about 15 times before it let me into the actual app to buy tickets. Truly astounding to have a ticket buying app that won't let you buy tickets.
2 simple things could improve this app. First, the ability to add or update you credit cards in the Cards portion of My Account rather than having to go to the purchase tickets option to do so. Second, move the Accept and Pay button up slightly because right now on my Samsung it is buried below the buttons to exit the app at the bottom of the screen giving me about 2mm of space to tap the button without closing the app.
Please fix the screen layout! Guys, The app is extremely hard to use, if not impossible, when you can't get to the top menus and you can't touch the bottom of the screen because the app draws under the navigation buttons on Android! I tried rotating, hoping it would move out of the way, but the app doesn't seem to accommodate rotation. Was this app tested at all?!? It seems there was no UI/UX testing. Perhaps written using AI coding and not checked? Please fix ASAP. Thanks! 🙏
Currently, it won't allow me to purchase commuter rail tickets; this could be due to my TAP pass malfunctioning and having been replaced less than a month after I'd renewed. For clarity, the TAP pass was saved into the app, but I don't believe it was updated when my pass was replaced, only when it was renewed. I have to go into Boston to pick up my new ID (we have mail thieves), and it's going to be twice as much just to get there because of this glitch.
Lost 20 dollars due to how unreliable the app is. I was trying to buy a single weekend ticket, when I typed my card it said there was an error with it. I type in my info again, another error. Then I check my band account to see it's been charged twice. Third time worked but I essentially paid 30 dollars for what'd supposed to be a 10 dollar ticket
Horrible app. Very poorly designed. The bottom of the app's buttons are under the phone's navigation buttons, so they are not accessible. Then the app's top navigational buttons are in the phone's notification tray making them not accessible either. There's absolutely no excuse for such a basic design flaw. Did you even do any quality control before you tossed this garbage on the Play Store?
*Edit* - Seems there's a new 2024 feature wherein if you activate your flexpass, then close the app, then bring it back up, it does NOT default to your active ticket on the main screen. I assume they are now trying to trick people into activating an extra ticket on the return trip. The "Alerts" button should be on the app's homepage given that the trains are delayed all the time. Instead, you have to click on a tiny thing in the upper right hand corner and then select from a utilities list.
It's certainly better than having to use a kiosk and printint out a paper ticket 🤷 You pick your origin and destination, the app lists all the price options for the specified trip and let's you purchase the appropriate ticket. It even lets you buy the Cape Flyer or Weekend Pass if you prefer. Conductors then scan activated ticket bar codes on the train.
I am pleased with the app. It has worked flawlessly for me so far. Everything it purports to do it has done. There are some areas that could be improved. 1. Add a card, manage cards, without requiring a purchase. Lo importance. 2. App often restarts when selecting it from running apps when it is not the app with input focus. This is annoying, especially when selecting the app to show the conductor your activated ticket; mid importance. 3. Track Assignment Notification. It would be GREAT if one could receive an alert with track assignment for the train at South Station!!! There's always a crowd of people blocking the center of the station, staring up at the board. If you are reading a book or having a drink as you wait you have to often glance up at the board or monitor; mid importance. 4. Download ticket history. Would be convenient for QTE FSA claims and tax returns if the app would email a ticket history with prices paid; mid/hi importance. 5. Keep live schedule working. The feature that shows the train location on the schedule often (usually) hangs. 6. Pay for parking. Why must I use another app, form another vendor, to pay? Add it to this app!
it works, but for a few months now it plays this tooting sound every time I open the app. Bizarre. Having to re enter your card code for every purchase and getting signed out every couple weeks is stupid and unnecessary. Now that you're making everyone herd through fare gates at South Station, might as well just go to Google Wallet/Apple Pay like the subway and bus.
This app is functionally mediocre but the most annoying bit of all time is it logs you out and it doesn't allow android to associate a password with it so you have to dig it up but the passwords are set by a site called justride which has nothing to do with the name of the app so its always a pain to find.

It gets the job done, but it's nowhere near as good as it could be. The app should have native alerts, schedules, and realtime train locations. Additionally, I'd love to have a home screen widget that has my active ticket, so I wouldn't have to keep the app open while on the train or scanning at north station. Also, why link to the transit app? If that data is available, why not build that in natively? This app could be amazing, but is lacking a lot of native features to really excel
The stations nearest me don't have manned depots so this app is essential. It is so easy to use and allows me to buy tickets in advance when planning a day-trip or multi-day vacation. System wide schedules are easily accessible, as well as street maps and station info.
