app is incredibly glitchy. it crashes constantly. I can't actually submit an order. I try to add something to cart, and the cart disappears. when the cart finally came back, it showed i had 16 items from all my failed attempts. when I removed 15 of the 16 items and submitted my order, I kept getting errors. mostly it kept saying "that didnt work. looks like an order is already in progress." another time, it said that all the different pick up options closed "counter service closed at 9:30".
Recently, I have had so many bugs. first, it crashed and it said I used points when I didn't and I was not able to get them back. Then I tried to order and my shopping cart would not pop-up so I couldn't hit confirm order and place it. this was after trying to contact customer support, (which was no help) and uninstalling and reinstalling. Also on top of that, there's been a multipe times where I ordered something from the monopoly menu which said it would come with a code only for it not to.
Ever since the last update, I get constant orders that when I try to pay for the order, it tells me it failed because there is another order in process. I have finally found a workaround where I have to delete my order from the home screen. Then go and do the order again. very annoying. If I cannot view the cart from the order page, I have to find the cart in the home page. those oders will always give me this error. I've reinstalled aswell.
Leaving this a 1 star until you can pay with gift cards through the app. Such a simple feature that basically all other restaurant apps have, how could a company as big as McDonald's not support this? Ridiculous. Also keeping this at 1 star because the app constantly changes the pickup location to what it thinks is the closest one to me, but it's not. I even have my location as a favorite but it keeps changing it back to the "closer" one. This happens if I minimize the app and come back.
At some point the ability to change where you pick up your order was removed. So you get to the location and the drive through line is literally out to the road (happens nearly every breakfast and lunch time), but the dining room is literally empty, too bad. You can't go inside to get the order, you either wait for half an hour to get an iced coffee, or cancel the order (which is what I usually end up doing)
Buggy app that gives constant errors when you try to see the ingredients info for the items. Doesn't allow you to order ahead on the lunch menu, if currently serving breakfast. So if it's 10:30, app refuses to let you schedule an order for lunch. Basically the app is designed to be used standing outside their restaurant, so you can avoid engaging the cashier. Can't edit items in your cart before check out. Have to remove and then re-add edited items. Functionality stinks.
I've used this for years and have loved earning points and using app deals. Now, though, it took my points I tried to redeem on an order but never allowed me to actually place the order. The order "bag" was nowhere to be seen or clicked on to submit the order and give me my code for the drive thru. The staff couldn't assist me. I wasted my entire lunch break dealing with this and got no food, plus my points were subtracted even though I never was able to place order. I had wifi, app is broken!!
This app always has a problem. First it was not accepting touches and only being openable from the Play store. Then it was opening by itself constantly. Then it was having to repeat opening it because it closes immediately. Now there is no bag icon. I cleared data, then uninstalled and reinstalled, and now can't log in because it keeps going back to the registration page every time I click "login with Facebook" after it tells me I have to log in with Facebook. FB is accepting the connection.
This app tries to streamline the process of ordering but more often than not gets in it's own way, placing the order at the wrong location, clearing the bag, switching locations, etc. On top of it all, there's no way to cancel your order, and half the time the current order doesn't appear anywhere. I was just trying to use my points up but I'll just let them rot. This app continues to be absolute trash every time I try to use it, stop cheaping out on developers.
Updating my review. This app is still terrible and buggy. Most of the time the deals and offers won't work. I click to add items (BOGO McDouble or whatever) and that works, but then when I go to move then to the bag the app fails and will not go on. I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it's showing every restaurant in the area is not offering any deals. However, they are offering them - I asked them. Why is this app always so incredibly bad?! I just want to order food and use a coupon.
The app never works. It keeps freezing or kicking me out after placing a curbside order and won't let me check in. Reinstalling doesnt help. I still receive a receipt and have the charge pending immediately, but the store can't make it without it being in their system. One time they were able to find the order, recently they couldn't so I didn't get my food. Save your time and just go to Burger King. Their app actually works.
Great when it works. Deals help reduce the food prices to where they should be and where they used to be before McDonald's started raising their prices to ridiculous levels. The problem is a lot of times the app just doesn't work. You enter an entire order, select a payment method, select a pickup method and you get an error saying "Sorry we're having issues on our end." I can't imagine how much business they're losing because of this app.
It's annoying that I can't use any of the deals on a mobile order. I clicked, "Use this deal," select my items, and then the next page, the deal is blank, and I'm unable to click "Add to Order." I downloaded the app for the convenience of not having to talk to people, and not being able to add the deal really defeats the purpose of having the app
Only allows in-store pickup! I used to be able to pick up in the drive-through, and my location's drive-through window still asks if I have a mobile order. So it's not a location issue, it's an app issue. There is nowhere to change the option. I tried change on the location, and it lists pickup options there but does not let me select a different option. On the other hand, I've saved a lot of money and broken my habit of getting McDonald's several times a week on the way to and from work!
This is my second review. It has been months since I last left a review. The app is very broken and has yet to be fixed. It constantly crashes. The code either doesn't load at all, or in the rare cases it does- it doesn't work at the drive through, despite having only just opened the app and refreshed the code. At first I thought, whatever, I just can't get rewards and I'll enter the info from the receipt to get my points. Turns out you can only submit 1 receipt per month. Fix the app please.
Horrible. Ever since I deleted Facebook I can't log in to my account. I tried contacting customer service, they said FU, use Facebook or else. I tried creating a new account with a different email and I just get the message "you've exceeded the number of accounts per device." I've only ever used one account on this phone! Absolutely infuriating. Haven't been to McDonald's in almost a year as a result. Edit: reply just tells me to fill out the same form I've filled out several times. No help :(
Everything is frozen! *** Edited 5/21/2025 *** This app is about as moody as a teenager going through puberty! With that said, whenever this app works, I really like it a lot. Earning points with every purchase adds up to redeem for free food. I also like the "customize" option for every item. That makes it easy to add or remove anything, as well as how much to add, so my food is made just the way I like it. I'd rather order through the app if I have a choice. I admit the app has improved a lot
Not even worth using most of the time since locations rarely have your order ready on time, if they even start on it at all. You could get food quicker by just ordering on the spot in a lot of cases. If something ends up being wrong with your order and you need a refund, you're completely out of luck. There's no way to do this in-app, and they make you jump through hoops with local McDonald's management to try to get your money back. Still waiting on one myself.
Curbside pickup options are confusing/nonexistent. Spent 5 minutes in my spot trying to figure out how to check in before I finally just went inside to pick it up at the counter. Employee told me next time to check in properly for Curbside. I handed her my phone with the app open and asked how to do so - she couldn't find the option either. Finally told me the option would be there if I didn't "mess around with it" whatever that means. Price gouging aside, last straw, won't be back.
This app used to work fine. In the last three months, it consistently will not let me pay for an order. I get this message: "Sorry, we're having issues on our end. Please try again later or place your order at the restaurant." It doesn't matter which location or payment method I choose, I get that message almost every time I submit a mobile order. I have repeatedly cleared my cache and data, logged out then back in, and uninstalled then reinstalled the app - nothing changes. Please fix this!
