Truly exceptional. Independent ear volume controls as well as the ability to choose from 4 different "noise" backgrounds to adjust for interference and best reception. Only one small glitch. I could not get the right aid to "pair". After a little research I determined that by re-installing the app it might fix it. It did. So very convenient and user friendly. 👍🏻
Not a very good app. Bluetooth devices should be immediately reconnected as soon as the app or the operating system discovers them available and on. This app requires that you go into the app and wait for the app to tell you that it couldn't find them, and then hit the try again button before it will actually reconnect. Also, when I hit the volume up and down button I should immediately increase or decrease the volume, not go into a separate screen. App will not maintain program that I set.
I think the app is lacking in many ways and may be responsible for complaints. The app doesn't hold my settings. I constantly have to check due to increasing feedback only to find it doesn't remember which "mode" I have mine set at and the volumes way higher than I had set them. Also, EVERY time I use the app I get a "LEFT AID NOT FOUND" error. Very aggravating as if you can't clear or get by this error, you can't change the mode from adaptive to quiet.
The aids work fine but the app is garbage. Edit: The aids are still good, the app is still trash... will never connect to an android. iPad worked fine.
Hearing Aids have alot of Bluetooth connection issues. App is somewhat helpful to get aids set on same program.
I like both the app and the hearing aids. I have a 5year old set of the volts. They have served me well but these are far better. The app is easy to use and the control they have is handy.
When I try to use this app to change volume or program it takes a long time to retrieve data and often fails once or more because it cannot find either left or right aid. Then I have to remove one or both aids to open battery door and reclose and then try again and often two or three times. Not satisfactory unless this can be corrected.
ok gives you the tools to access your aids and adjust sound and location settings . I did try to do the hearing test again but had some issues of reconnection. but I am learning the system and will follow the instructions. my hearing aid work fine and I hope I will be happy for a long time with the ones I have .
So far it allows volume and 1 of 4 sound profiles, and initially conducts a hearing test profile that supposedly assists in your hearing curve. It needs to be within 6 feet. Set the phone down and walk, it needs to "find" the aids again. No biggy. Only 3 days into it. Aside, i cut the stablizer bars off the ear pieces, really digging into my ear, and didn't need them on the 2 previous MDs I still have .
With all the masks, glasses, and the hearing aids during COVID, one of my hearing aid adjustment buttons BROKE! It's Christmas season. I can't live without it. Fortunately, I had already downloaded the app. With the app I can control the aid without the controller. WAAAAHOOOO!
It worked for me after I figured out you have to hold your tongue against the inside of your left cheek while standing on one (right) leg with both arms straight out to the side. I finally got my devices paired and my custom hearing profile programmed into the hearing aids before the app went bonkers. The devices seem to have retained the profile permanently, so far. I guess it works about as good as one could expect for such inexpensive devices which, themselves, work great. The app needs work.
I like the app. It's very easy to use. I like being able to control the volume from the app. I also like being able to change the program from the app. Since I'm already an experienced hearing aid wearer, the setup process for the hearing aids was very easy to use. The personal profile part is nice so that I can show people where my hearing loss is in each year. I suggest five scales instead of just low medium and high. The tutorial video for cleaning the hearing aids is extremely helpful.
Using the VoltMax for 6 months and I have to re-install the app about 1/week. It looses contact with the left ear and sometimes retrying works again for a few days. Then - re-install. After re-installing, you have to start from the beginning with a hearing test for both ears. Other apps have graphs to set EQ balance, battery health, streaming sound from HDD, etc. This is a pretty bare bones UI.
It took a very long call to MDHearing to get the newest app to work but they were able to get me going again and the man i spoke to was very personable and knowledgeable. I liked the older versions of the app better though because you had more control in the Programs. The new version of the app has taken that away and is very simplistic. It doesn't allow you to control your hearing in all environments as well as past versions did.
This app is quite detailed and easy to use. It also has an option to have a audiologist help with any difficulty your having I do wish the instructions were a little more clear on the advanced settings. The problem I have had is that it doesn't find one of my hearing aides almost every time I use it and I have to reconnect with the app most times.
Hearing aids frequently disconnect from my phone however this app does come in handy! Update 9/25/19: I've been wearing my LifeEar core aids for a month now. Much less disconnection issues. I really appreciate having this app with my aids! 7-23-21... I wasn't able to connect to the app for about 10 months with my last pair of hearing aids so I just dealt with it until they both started dropping in volume. I just got my new pair. Won't connect either. Going with another brand next time.
Found out app updated today, and it prompted me to set up my hearing aids again. If that wasn't frustrating enough, I can't set them up because the app crashes and closes after it tells me to close the battery door and I hit next. Please fix this app asap! This problem means new users will nto be able to set up their hearing aids and old users won't be able to make tweaks based on their surroundings!
App has trouble finding left hearing aid--every time I make an adjustment. It searches 3 times for the left aid then resets the connection. For the 10 days I've used the aids, it does connect after resetting. But if I'm out with friends, the wait for connection seems awfully long.
The hearing aids may be good but they are controlled by the app, which is pitiful. Connection takes 10+ tries to get Connected. Random setting changes all by itself. Constantly squeals. No updates. The hearing aid has been a PITA since purchased due I think to the app. Do yourself a favor and look for better reviews, save your money. If the hearing aids don't have a cohesive app, then what good are they. Expensive regrets. Have to buy different aids, can't stand it anymore.
Volt Max Android app reconnectivity after a hearing aid battery is depleted then recharged can be a challenge and frustrating. The volume controls are not always accurate, need a calibration by setting to zero then max before setting you want. Update: After receiving a replacement set due to white noise in the original set I had to do the personalization test over again. When the configuration update was uploaded to the HAs I immediately noticed a subtle white noise again.
