I love this app! Well, I don't exactly 'Love' the app.. Well, I do like it! Anyway, I love the fact that you can set up a profile picture for your cat it is amazing! But if you try to record your cats meow, there is an ad, and after the ad, my cat stops meowing. And also they force you to watch an ad to unblur your cats meow. Also, I don't know if the translation is right..
The app is fairly accurate at determining cat sounds, though it doesn't always pick up sounds exactly and it can mistake your voice or other noises as cat sounds. You can fix inaccurate translations, and I like the algorithmic learning system as it picks up cute and specific translations from others' translations. However, there's some glaring issues with the app. One minor issue is you can't edit everything after recording, which can be problematic if you accidentally record for the wrong cat.
Not a free app! Just want to say that right off the bat! You can't do anything beside make your cat's profile without paying. Also, I went into this with pretty low expectations for translation accuracy (just in it for the novelty really), but they were REALLY wrong. When it picked up my cat's voice at all, that is. Admittedly, she makes some really weird noises, but an angry growl is definitely a cat noise, and definitely not "I'm happy!"
I was originally excited to play around, hearing my cat (Loki💜) in English. I didn't expect perfection, since there are tons of things even experts don't know to translate yet, but I thought that at least it could pick up my cat's meows, but it didn't. Also, the ads in the app are waaaay over pushed. You can record the cat's voice, then watch an ad, then see a screen that wants you to watch an ad to unblur the translation. Only then can you see the phrase. It's a good idea, but it needs fixing.
It doesn't pick up my cats' chatter, and when it does, it "blurs the translation" and you have to watch an ad to unblur. It's just frustrating and feels entirely like a cash grab, especially for the amount of times its failed to pick up my cats' yelling. I wouldn't rate it poorly if the first few translations per day were free or something, but having to watch ads to even try it at all is🤢 Edit: if you use neighborhood cat it doesn't blur the translations
Fun little app, but it's not free. Won't let you see any translations until you subscribe, and I don't know if it's worth $3/month. It doesn't always seem to pick up the meows, and the "translations" are limited, and questionable, at best. You can alter the translations or add your own to make it more "accurate," but if you already know what your cat is saying to do that, then why use the app at all? Also, I was hoping I could set it up to listen with Google Home, but it's not supported.
As many others have said, this used to be free, and my husband and I enjoyed seeing what our new kitten was supposedly saying (although we knew there probably wasn't a ton of truth to it). I had to delete it due to limited space on my phone, and now that I've re-downloaded it, it's completely pointless without a subscription. What a joke. What's the point of even having a free version at all if it can do literally nothing? 🙄
Connection errors prevent use I wanted to try this, and understand its still in beta or whatever. But I couldn't even create an account. Every time I try to save new account, I get the connection settings error. After two tries, the error appears immediately upon launching the app. Deleting, maybe they can get this figured out and I'll try again when it's more stable.
It could be nice and has potential but almost $8/week ??? The devs need to consider maybe $8/month or even a one-time buy situation. They're hurting themselves and it's a pain to use with all the ads. Or even have an option to remove ads! I was excited for it and ready to buy a subscription but $8/week?? That's more expensive than a monthly Disney+ or Netflix subscription. That's over $30/month!!
All I get is application errors. I can't sign up, no matter what I try. At first, I kept getting an "application error" message. Then I got a message saying that my email address was already in use. I tried resetting the password, uninstalled and reinstalled the app 3 times, tried using a different email address... nothing worked. I can't get into the app at all.
Used to be cute. Now, an ad pops up or plays while trying to record a meow. Literally every time you press translate. It records for a second then an ad starts even if a meow wasn't even recorded. Usually, it's a loud video ad too. Tramslation is wrong or blurred telling you to watch another ad or get a subscription... no. Deleted my account and the app after two minutes.
The free version has too many ads. It takes 2-3 minutes to receive a reply due to all of the ads. By the time I receive the reply, my cat has moved on. I had previously signed up for Premium, when it was around $2.99/mo. I ended up having to cancel but intended on upgrading again. As soon as I am ready to upgrade, the pricing has changed to $7.49/week. WEEK! That's $30/month!! Absolutely not. This app does not give $30 replies.
**Zero Stars** ads before recording, ads to unblur the "translation" which were always wrong. Our kitten doesn't like being held too long and will start to make a sound that always means put me down/let me go... this app translated it to "I always love seeing you". I got some purrs and the app said it meant "I want to relax"... it's just bs adware, or you can subscribe got $7.50 a week... they want $30 a month for something that flat out does not work. I'm convinced the positive reviews are paid
07/05/22 - Went to use the app and my cat's words were gone. Wanted me to subscribe at cost to retrieve. Bye! 11/13/20 - I've tried to use this many times. Errors most of the time. I reinstalled it and still errors. It worked for a few minutes last night and ever since I get more error messages. I have uninstalled and restarted my device and reinstalled with no ability to sign in or skip and use and constant errors. I have Samsung Galaxy S9+ with the most recent updates. Good luck to you all!!!
Has great potential, but all of the translations are blurred unless you cough up a monthly subscription fee. Sorry, but I'm not going to spend any money on your app when I don't even know if it's worthwhile or if I'll use it, especially not a monthly subscription. There ought to be a few free translations bare minimum to get a feel for things. It hardly picks up my cat's meows anyway, unless I hold the phone up to her, which distracts her from meowing
I don't mind watching an ad to play and ignoring it for 30 seconds to support the developer, but 3 ads to get one translation? My friend, that's not going to help you. @reply if you would've read what I said, 3 ads to unblur, when you said there is only one. So something is wrong here. And it's not going to help much. Otherwise, it barely picked up anything my cat said. When it did, I had to suffer through 3 ads. No thanks. Thankfully I speak their language.
It was once a really good app. No blurs on the translations. But now want money. It was fine before. Would've rated 5 stars if it hadn't changed. But there is one more thing. I am considering purchasing premium. When I do, if I get a lot of good stuff I will rate it higher. If not, I will cancel the subscription and stay at this level of review.
Read a cool article about this app in the New York Times that described being able to watch ads to get translations in the free version. Apparently not so - almost like they took that out to make a money grab on publicity. You can record and send them data but not get any translations without subscribing. I have no idea if it's any good and I'm not paying to find out.
Like any other human language translator, some of the literal translations seemed odd or silly at first until we started looking at them in context of the situation. We realized "I don't feel so good" with "I see my prey" while leading us into the kitchen meant he was upset that he knocked his favorite toy next to fridge and couldn't reach it. It's really helping us understand and meet our newly adopted cats' needs, and we recommend this app to all our friends with feline companions.
Before when it was an app, one and done, totally free. It was amazing, I would have given it 5 stars. Now, I have to spend money for it and it's no longer worth the effort. It records and does one meow at a time, constant ads, and blurred text "translations". They used to be great, relevant to the context of the cat, and I would have given it an 80% successful rating. Now I can't see what happens real time with multiple meows and it's often wrong when it does. Disappointing they went this way
