Microsoft Authenticator

Garbage. If your company decides to use this, best of luck. And if you get a new phone, I wish you even more luck, because that is absolute hell, trying to get the authenticator to recognize your new phone. There have got to be better ways to secure digital things than this damned app. Also, you won't be able to use it if you lose reception or don't have Wi-Fi, which is a common occurrence in our very large building.

Works w/every app/site I've linked it to (everything from banking to shopping) & never had a failure. I've been using it for many years now. U can use it w/both your personal email addresses (Gmail, yahoo, etc), & SSO accounts (organization), & across devices. 99% of complaints here are USER error! Don't blame MS because u don't understand how to use this app. & no, it is NOT supposed to sync w/Google PW Manager, for your protection! However, u CAN upload a copy of your passwords to this app.

I was forced to install this app. My work email literally wouldn't open until I did. I did not elect to participate in the use of a two-factor authentication system that, based on the reviews available on the website, will inevitably lock me out when I get a new phone, will subject me to endless code loops, and will offer no customer support. Between this and the disabling of Office features if you opt out of AI, Microsoft is no longer a company; they are an ongoing hostage negotiation.

Make sure to download on a device you won't lose. I got a new phone, as most everyone does every couple of years. well... how am I supposed to log into the authenticator app without being able to approve a sign-in using the... Authenticator app.... AND THERE IS 0 WAY TO FIX IT. I now have to go through my supervisor to IT to reset it. I know the password... its correct. I'm logged in, but I have access to nothing because I can't use the app without accepting it.

This authenticator app is so ridiculous! Only use it cause of other organizations and companies that force me to use it for login. More than half the time, the notification code to login to one of my accounts using this doesn't even pop up, it gives me errors logging in, it puts me in a loop, makes it hard to transfer my logins to a new device, asks me to type in a code repeatedly, has issues loading and backing up my logins and now I'm locked out of one of my accounts cause of this stupid app!

The authenticator app stopped working for no reason I could find. I tried to reset and everything but nothing worked. I then spent 2 hours going round in circles, calling customer service, and having AI tell me to go online and get help which I cant as I cant log in to be able to do this, as my authenticator is broken. I tried every choice on the phone to talk to a human, and AI just kept hanging up on me. I now have no access to either email, no way of resetting them. Dreadful system and CS

The absolute goddamn worst. I've spent hours in a loop, trying to log into my work and school accounts and connect them to the app. If you're in the app, it tells you to authenticate through the app. Except, you can't. So you click "I can't use my authenticator app right now" and then it goes, "Oh! No worries, here's two other ways you can use the authenticator app to sign in!" No other bloody options. This is the world's most useless waste of time. Save yourself the headache. What a joke.

I expected more from a company that would probably consider itself at the forefront of technical prowess. This app is a piece of junk whose only effect has been to make it harder for me to access my own account. How on earth did you make an app capable of telling me to open authenticator...while I'm IN AUTHENTICATOR?! And when I obviously can't perform app-ception, it locks me out. When it's not doing that the directions/required permissions go in circles making it impossible to sign in. Trash.

Great app for keeping track of all your accounts, however being done by Microsoft, the fact the info doesn't cross over to windows when on your computer is a huge oversight. Never use the password generator if you want to use the password on any system other than your android phone, as you likely will not have access to it unless you've memorized it or written it down.

I'll give this a four star rating only because it seems like it has potential, but there is an issue that keeps happening on my end. My university recently started using this and sometimes when I'm trying to confirm my login, the yes option won't work and it's just frozen there and I have to use a different method to log in. Seems like a bug with the app.

After years and year of using this app it no longer works. I go to log in to the app, the fingerprint, or passcode works, then the screen is blank. I've restarted my phone, cleared the cache, force stopped the app, uninstalled and reinstalled it, relogged in it worked.. but I close the app to reopen it.. nothing. Doesn't work at all and since I can't get into the app how do I request help? My review will change if I receive help.

ABSOLUTELY USELESS!!! I have the same issue as most people in here who left a bad review. Everytime when I try to login and the code has been sent to my authentication app is nothing there, so I need to retry the same process (is asking in case if you haven't received a code to update the app which is not the case). Very bad, annoying and ongoing issues with this app. If by any chance you can avoid this two-way system of verification and especially this one, please do it. This is just an advice

can't get authentication codes. setting up 2 factor authentication in the app requires...2 factor authentication from the app. I've tried resetting password, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and resetting device notifications. all support prompts end in a loop of needing a code from the app that I cannot get. finally found a support number but spent an hour on hold with no answer.

I like the idea, but the app seems buggy. Half the time when it sends me the notification and I press the number and approve it, it then says the "password" is incorrect. Not really sure what that means as I'm not even using a password! I have this app on my iPad as well and it has the same issue. Shame because I like the idea of being completely passwordless and want this to work!

Worst Customer Service Ever. I had to factory reset my phone. As a result I am locked out of my accounts. Microsoft won't send me a text, will only send a code to my email. Only 2 attempts a day but when the phone# doesn't work that leaves me with no options. Can't speak to a live agent. Can't get any access whatsoever. Also locked out of business account because of this. The recovery options are awful with no help what so ever. Microsoft....worst service EVER

The app works great, it's simple and fast. The only issue I have is the past few months I have had to uninstall and reinstall the app because it just quits working. It'll open up fine, damn my finger print and the blackout. I'll reinstall the app and it'll work fine and then a few months later it'll do it again.

Been using for ~1 year. Love it, esp the backup function. So when you get a new phone it's super quick to have everything setup. I love how you can make your MS account paswordless, which I did. You can see whenever someone tries to login to your account. Happens to mine once every few mins,but I get ~2-3 requests that aren't me per month; just hit deny. Oh and your passwords do sync/are available on windows. If you use Edge signed into your MS account. This app and edge sync PW's with eachother

Typically works but is a pain in the rear having to wait for an e-mail or a text to advance. Most MFAs require the same, so... they are all inconvenient. I wouldn't use it except my employer requires this. As long as you have access to your cellphone it's not as bad; but, if you need to login to an email account to verify--wow. It sucks worse. If you have no cell phone or you don't want to use yours for privacy concerns, tough luck.

Excellent Authorization App. I've never ran into any functionality issues with it. Clean and straight forward. User friendly and as simple and efficient as you can make it. Sad to see the password vault feature going away. Given the plethora of alternative options out on the open market and the partial duplication with other Microsoft products such as Edge, I can see why they are doing away with that feature.

This is one of the worst experiences of my life. The app is overcomplicated, and there is no real way to log in. I only wanted to check my payslip. By mistake, I entered 63 instead of 62 for the ID number. Since then, the system keeps asking me to log in to a work account that I never created. On top of that, it says the Chrome browser is not supported. I still cannot access my payslip. The whole process is ridiculous and frustrating.
