Microsoft completely ruined this app. someone there needs training in UI. you can't just open notes and be where u left off, or even be in notes. now it's some stupid "Add a page to take notes". good grief, I've already written my notes, I do more reading my existing notes than create a new note every day. I need to find an alternative note app
I generally like Microsoft products and I really like the desktop app, but the mobile app has so little functionality in regards to creating content in comparison as to be fairly disappointing. There is no Web Clipper add-on for the app either. If someone intends only to have access to their already created notes, then they'll probably experience little disenchantment with the app but if you are used to doing so much thru the desktop version than make grocery lists, you're in for a surprise.
This app has all kinds of features that really help to organize your notes, like importing or copy and paste. I like that I can change font size, type, color, and highlight. It even allows you to invent and change the background and style of the page. So many settings are offered to help you choose what makes you comfortable, and allows you to take notes more enjoyably. This app is very easy to figure out and use. I really like it.
OneNote has been my note taking app of choice for almost 10 years. I left Evernote when the subscription started. OneNote may seem "old fashioned" when compared to Notion or Obsidian, but it's an easy program to learn and offers tons and tons of features without having to pay extra to unlock any. I've tried other note taking apps, but I always go back to OneNote after a week, or even a day! I do wish they'd update it more often, though.
I have hundreds and hundreds of notes. All of the sudden, they stopped syncing. I checked my OneDrive account and they're gone. All of them. What's really weird is that the one notebook I deleted is still there. Everything else has just vanished. Doesn't work at all with DEX. Lack of ability to alphabetize is ridiculous. Going to try ZoHo Notebook or Evernote, but one way or another I'm done with this app.
OneNote mobile has improved much over the years. Problems syncing is still an issue, but not as frequent. Also there are some features I don't find helpful. 1) Not having a choice to open to your notebook list rather than recents. I can count on one hand the number of times I've used the recents page. 2) Moving pages takes you out of the notebook you're in to the notebook you've moved the page; this is only annoying because in mobile you can only move 1 page at a time.
Good notes app, about as close as it gets to Apple notes for Android. Love that I can use markdown, group notes, attach files, share and export. Needs to be more stable (occasional crash) and the search option needs to let you search for each instance of search terms instead of just highlighting them. Also would be nice to linkify phone numbers like it does for url's.
Whenever I try to use the android app: *open app; see that the contents of my notes are out of date; wait several minutes; nothing happens; search around in vain for a manual sync; open and close app completely several times; give up*. Seriously, what's the point of keeping my notes on the cloud if the app literally never syncs? EDIT: years later came back to give a 1 star review for having to hard-close the app every couple minutes to reset its behavior. Totally inconsistent.
Not very functional for people who want something that is an actual note-taking app. Pages seem to be infinite and move around way too much. I wish there was a way to freeze everything and make it like actual folders and notes that are organized. It's not very ADHD or autistic friendly in my opinion. Every time I try to use it it moves all around. I want it to scroll up and down and that's it.
I've been using it for 5 years now. So far it has been very valuable with what I'm do. The only things I wish that they had would be: The voice to text option as standard without the need for ms365, a little bit more control over the document formatting like headings, text, etc. That way you could customize/create a template document, also; I would like to see few more export file formats. Other than that I still love the app.
This is a very bad app. You need to use the desktop version just to delete a notebook, and it's very slow when you need to delete notes because the app needs to sync every change to OneDrive. It needs one thing to become a good app: an offline mode that would make it stop syncing to OneDrive. I can see it becoming one of the best note-taking apps, if not the best on Android, by removing the syncing to OneDrive.
having used OneNote for over a decade, in the past few years I have found its performance terrible. When opening the app all my previous notes have disappeared. It takes a good +5 minutes to retrieve notebooks. Not sure what and why anything has changed for this to happen and it's incredibly inconvenient. The whole point of notes is to write notes. Not wait +5 minutes so I can capture a note.
OneNote has never given me issues UNTIL TODAY. The app freaked out when I tried to open it, it kept crashing, and then said due to an error it had to reset the app. After doing so, and logging in to my account, it no longer lets me open any of my notes and asks if I want to delete them (NO), and it won't let me make any new notes either. The app is now completely unusable and I'm considering deleting it and losing all of my notes in the process because I can't take it anymore.
used to be a good app but all of a sudden it keeps logging me out. I have to log in multiple times a day...so frustrating! In addition, it is constantly getting out of sync with the desktop app. If I could easily change to another app I would but I have so many formatted notes that it would take long. I will eventually since this causes me more issues than convenience.
I use OneNote all the time, and recently it's started signing me out automatically every 24 hours. I can't find a setting to stay signed in. UPDATE: I'm going to stop using OneNote, and all Microsoft products altogether. It's going to take me a minute to disentangle myself, but I'm on the way out. Sick of this nonsense. If I could rate OneNote negative stars, I would.
I use notes to keep me organized and OneNote has been a fantastic way to keep all my notes in one place. The recording feature is handy and I love that notes on all my devices sync. Two requests/suggestions: I'd love to have access to my password protected files on my phone, and it would be extremely helpful to be able to send my notes/lists to friends via text/email from my phone (I haven't been able to figure out how to send grocery list to my hubby).
I need to reinstall it every time I want to open a perfectly fine and synced notebook. For other notebooks, sync errors (no real description or option to resolve otherwise) made me make a copy. Up to 3 copies for one of them, and in Excel some of my spreadsheets are up to 6 copies so there is clearly an issue. Also you can't indent pages on the mobile app which is basic functionality. It already shows the indented pages properly, but we can't edit that on mobile? Can't even de-indent? 500char😔
This app has become very frustrating. There's constantly page sync issues. I use it on two devices and once a week I get the error. I have to go to the web version to clear the issue and that only works half the time. Recently I now get an error that I have to sign in to sync. Everytime I close the app, I have to sign in again. I've uninstalled it and I have reinstalled with no luck. I tried clearing the cache with no luck. I can see why people move to another app.
I've been using this app as best I could, but it's getting more and more frustrating. in addition to serious editing glitches (e.g., auto replace leaving off letters of words), it will not sync between Windows 11 and Android if you have more th!n one account. Microsoft isn't invested enough in Android to care. NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.
I like that it lets me access notes from my laptop without Google Docs. That's it. 2 biggest issues are 1) I'm notified every time I open the app that they pasted my clipboard to somewhere (idk where?!) without me hitting paste. The only other apps that I've seen do that were confirmed phishing scams hoping for my passwords & other private info. 2) I can't type in this app and expect it to be coherent. It has an autocorrect I can't disable that clashes with both keyboard apps I've tried with it.
