I have been a SwiftKey user for probably a decade. But since the change in voice typing recently, I've been using gboard. But I have to admit, typing on this is just a million times better. And now I'm really torn. I've been experimenting today, and voice typing seems much improved from when it first changed. But there's one thing keeping me from coming back and using it regularly with a 4 or 5 star review; Samsung pen handwriting to text. Gboard has it. Surely this can too. Let's go!
After the last update, talk to text doesn't work well at all. Update: That worked. Thank you. Another issue I have is the clipboard. I use a PIXEL 8A, and I can't save multiple things on it. It tells me to sign in to my Microsoft account, change settings, nothing happens, so I change settings back. When I used SwiftKey on GALAXY, multiple images, copy and pastes, and more would be saved.
I *love* my Microsoft Swiftkey Keyboard. I have been using it for years, ever since I got my 1st phone and the Standard Samsung Keyboard just didn't work for me. This has so many more ways to customize, and it's learning & prediction text are unparalleled in my opinion. It has even learned to cope with my physical problems. I have tremors in my hands and hit buttons twice a lot. My fingers also frequently hit the key just below what I need. But this App, has adapted to all of that. It's the best
Reducing this to one star. The Ai isn't even pretending anymore. This keyboard's AI now is both crazy aggressive about implementing bad changes and refusing to make logical ones. it turns my typing, whether accurate or bad at the moment, into gibberish. It adds letters to words and then words to phrases without regard to context. Rarely do I type anything that doesn't require editing afterwards.... Microsoft tried a fix, which worked for awhile, but it again is as bad as it was before the fix.
I have used this keyboard for a very long time but it's started to really slip in quality lately. It regularly replaces words I've spelled correctly with nonsense words. I even try to delete those nonsense words from its memory but it still does it. Also now it sensors swear words when I used the voice to text option. It didn't do that before. Now it does and there is no option to turn it off.
I like the customization options like keyboard themes and layout. The biggest thing for me is the long hold for secondary key functions and being able to adjust the hold time. I find the long hold time on other keyboards to be too long, making typing slower. I also like the predictions and the ability to enable swipe actions like a quick swipe across the keyboard to the left deletes the last word typed. It has a nice pop up menu accessed with a button on the keyboard to get to settings.
I loved the older version of SwiftKey, but I still run into problems when I use a comma; it jumps into another sentence and it confounds me. I've tried everything in SETTINGS that I know of to keep control of my spelling, grammar and punctuation to no effect. It just bounced after I put a comma after SPELLING in the last sentence. Even suggested words aren't intuitive to what I'm writing. This app has become difficult to use. I hate to leave SwiftKey but it's not helping itself.
I've been using SwiftKey since 2013 & I've not looked back since. I love this app to pieces and it has only gotten better as the years have progressed. One of the only things I'd ever change, if possible, would be a little bit more of a selection for iPhone. although I know it may not even be possible, since iPhone is weird about customization, but as far as what we are allowed to customize, I've been truly thankful for SwiftKey allowing me even the opportunity to change my keyboard (: You ROCK!
I've used SwiftKey for years, but in the last 6 months I feel like it has progressively gotten worse. It automatically pastes my last sentence from whatever I was previously typing in, and the voice dictation is probably 25% less accurate than it used to be. Sometimes it'll even leave a space before punctuation. Even the swiping is less accurate. Really disappointing because it was so much better than everything else for so long. Update: I tried what the developer suggested. I'm happy again.
Used to be a big fan of this keyboard, but in recent months I've been unimpressed with its performance - no longer predicting words it always used to get correct, changing correct words to things that make no sense, etc. Unsure if this is related to them leaning into AI, as the problems seemed to start around the time they added that to the name, but I will be uninstalling this keyboard and using another going forward.
For the past few months this keyboard has just been wrong. It will autocorrect words that are correct to words that are close. It will change words like "is" to "in", or my personal favorite recently which is turning any word beginning with "Che", like "cherry", back to "Che". I have never once used the word Che in my life, but it's convinced that's the word I meant. It wasn't until recently that I saw it is now an AI keyboard, and it all makes sense now. Another Microsoft product ruined by AI.
I've used this app for over 10 years and loved it. Every update since 2025 has progressively made it worse It constantly auto fills to nonsense words. Auto correct doesn't really work anymore for misspelled words. And with increasing frequency, it changes words that were spelled correctly and in the right context to whatever it feels like. After this most recent update, the auto predicted word options have just disappeared. Any word over about 5 or 6 letter just generates 3 blank boxes.
It WAS of the best keyboards. Now that it has spelling & grammar check integrated it's difficult to use especially if you type more than 1 paragraph. Once a certain amount of items are underlined it starts lagging, glitching, moving text around the page, etc. If you type fast it will go to underline things mid-type, moving the cursor to that section and scrambling words up. If you're integrating AI how about using it to improve text predictions/autocorrect instead of making the app unusable?
Great app. I only use this one in about 7 years so far now I have had this app. Like it alot. Only thing is the app won't pop up in game and sometimes browsing the internet. Or it will pop up then collapse instantly and it'll take about 15 20 seconds to finally pop back up. But once I start pressing a key, it disappears again. Please help!
Love this keyboard. Been a user for a decade. Word prediction, autocorrect, and dictionary customization are great. My one wish: give us way more freedom to create our own keyboard theme. Only being able to add a photo for a background is a major disappointment. The theme selection is pretty decent, but I'd love the ability to make my own that can be shared to the SwiftKey community. I think you're missing an opportunity here.
I've been using this keyboard for several years now, but strangely, after the recent updates, it's been getting worse. After I insert an emoji, it automatically adds a space right after the emoji — and there's no option to turn this feature off. It would be much better and more useful if it didn't automatically add a space after emojis.
I've been using this keyboard for years across several phones at this point. It's the first app I download on new phones when I get them. I love the features - being able to swipe the text is awesome! Predictive text is great too. The settings that you can change offer a personalized experience and you can even change the background on the keyboard. So many options! I highly recommend this keyboard app.
Edit 7/17/25 The new Voice recognition is 💩! Prior review... SwiftKey is, IMO the best Android keyboard. It's not perfect, but it's darn good. Lots of free features and customizability. The AI editor feature is limited, but sweet. I found setup painful with proper instructions lacking. Hopefully that has since changed. Too often, word prediction is poor. It's not entirely off, but it doesn't like to recommendation a choice for the word with the appropriate suffix or lack of a suffix.
Best keyboard ever. Been a user since for nearly six years now. The prediction software is probably my best feature: I'm a technical writer and use my phone to write a lot (old habit), so it helps to have my keyboard learn which terms I use often and quickly suggest them as I'm typing. Helps improve speed a lot. Being able to copy and paste on my clipboard across devices (if I have SwiftKey installed) is also very useful. Oh, and keyboard arrows are a godsend.
Finally Microsoft gets it right! I was hesitant to try this cuz of how "great" Windows 11 is, but I'm impressed. We all know Samsung voice to text dept. mailed it in and if you use it, God have mercy on you. Google's is the go-to alternative, but I still regularly deal with mistakes and end up taking longer vs just typing the message. Just started using this & wow, customizations galore and it just works! Slight adjustment period but the predictive text is spot on, voice gets it right, try it!
