After owning this a year, the features I bought it for are now only for paid subscribers when they were free before. The app is awful. It constantly disconnects, and if the app can't find your wifi network all support will tell you is that there is something wrong with your router. Every other device in my home doesn't have a problem connecting, or maintaining that connection. There are much better options out there that will give you a better peace of mind for your little ones.
This app is terrible and is so poorly maintained. It shuts down or disconnects several times a day. Now it has updated and requires two factor authentication to log in, but it will not send the text with the code. And forget any sort of customer support. We have tried with both my login and my husband's login. Glad we won't need this tool for much longer. Honestly, we should cancel our subscription because it's not like this thing actually works most of the time.
When it works, we love it. However, it is frequently "Connecting securely to Miku" and just spinning... The picture quality varies from my husband's phone and mine, which is weird. His picture is WAY more clear and mine is distorted. I frequently have to unplug and replug the device to reset it. We bought an inexpensive Bluetooth monitor and it works wonderfully when Miku doesn't. We've been using it more often lately. But like I said, when it works, we love it.
Ugh!!! when we first got this camera for almost $300, we had so many options with the app such as breathing tracking, playback, etc. now you either have to pay a subscription or it's just a glorified expensive baby camera. app sucks too. I've had to uninstall it and reinstall it multiple times. save yourself the hassle and get the Nanit Pro. that's what we did for our second baby!
When this camera and app works it is awesome. Great picture. Nice breath tracking. Good recording and motion detection. All really fantastic. BUT at least 80% of the time you try to use the app you get stuck on a "connecting" screen that spins and spins and spins forever. It is frustrating when all you want to do is quickly check in on your kid and just get a spinning blue circle. This sucks. Miku fix this! It makes using your camera an awful experience.
When it works it's great. The problem is that it doesn't work often. The app loses connection constantly. Our wifi signal is strong, we even upgraded our wifi in hopes to fix the issue. This is so bad that we are in the process of returning it. After spending as much as we did on this device AND the $100 stand, we expected more from the product. It over promises and under delivers. A 2 way walkie talkie style from the 80's is way more reliable than this garbage. Very disappointed.Negative stars!
Cool tech, terrible app. The Miku unit itself is pretty cool. It has some imaging tech in it that is state of the art for its market and very helpful. Too bad it doesn't really matter when the app is complete garbage. It never stays connected, most of the time failing to establish a connection at all between the app and unit. I have very high internet speeds with the app showing a strong connection to the wifi. Its just way way way too inconsistent, unreliable and not worth your time.
App logs me out constantly. I have the most updated version and have reinstalled. I will wake up to check on her at night and be logged out. It also randomly disconnects and can take up to 5 minutes to get the video reconnected. In 2023, for a baby monitor app, it's frankly unacceptable. I wouldn't purchase this brand again just due to this issue and how often it happens. Update: now they want you to subscribe monthly but the app is still trash it is just now even less useful.
Way too expensive for what it is. I would give this zero stars if I could. The only other reason why I wouldn't is because at the very least its kind of functional. The app is awful, it almost never connects, it takes multiple tries to launch. The alarms don't always work even if they're set up to go off with no movement. The camera is loose only after 2 years of use, I had to duct tape it to my wall to hold its weight. For $300, you could get A LOT better. DON'T waste your time or money.
Completely unreliable app, works intermittently at best. In order to get a full refund, you need to send the device back in its original packaging and pay for shipping. I would highly discourage anyone purchasing this device. It will give you, as a parent, more anxiety and concern than if you had nothing at all. Complete and total disappointment!
The camera is great, the app is hot garbage. Constantly disconnecting, constantly trying to connect, button presses are slow to respond. It tells me there is no movement detected when my child is wide awake and flailing, but then detects movement when she's sleeping soundly. The fact that we now have to pay $9.99 a month for what was at least free hot garbage before is a slap on the face. Do yourself a favor and get a camera that does 90% of what Miku does at 1/4th the price with a good app.
The app is buggy. I can't turn my phone sideways without it needing to reload the video feed. I leave it up all night while I'm sleeping and a few times the sound has randomly stopped working. And my child had woken up and I didnt hear him. I wouldn't trust the live breathing either. Sometimes its tracking breathing with just a blanket in the crib. Now, It's telling me I need to pay a membership for sleep tracking and live breathing features that used to be free.... I'm out. Not worth it.
Great tech rendered useless by app. No issues with connectivity issues with any other app (Snoo, HB). It takes longer for the video to load than getting up does. And it's more frustrating bc you paid top dollar for the camera. Tech support is useless and only offer generic tips. App regularly requires us to Force Stop and often still won't load. We read so many reviews saying this same thing, but wanted tech. DO NOT BUY. It's not just the money spent. It's the frustration of it all.
Constantly disconnecting, always loading, not reliable at all. Dropping signal is a weekly occurrence, if not more often than that. And we won't go into how features that used to be included no longer are since they got bought out. It's absolutely terrible. I regret the purchase of this camera, and the app is just like rubbing salt into the wound. AVOID AT ALL COST.
All features now locked behind a subscription service. The company released a firmware update that bricked thousands of devices and couldn't recover, so this is their solution. Would rather they have just gone under than insult us with a subscription service for this $400 device. As for the app, it did a great job of detecting breathing patterns on our little one, but it tends to take forever to get a video feed and sometimes must be relaunched to connect. Can't recommend this device anymore.
Would give no stars of it was an option. Miku worked for about 5 months but would always lose connection and we'd have to close out of the app just to reconnect. I like the breathing tracker and never had issues with that part. Now the Miku won't even connect at all. Tried lots of troubleshooting and talking with support. Not much help there, we are ready to just throw the product away. If you're thinking about getting it, you might as well just throw $400 out the window.
Terrible app! The monitor itself is wonderful, but what good is it if the app is faulty?! We use Android devices, and lately I can't count the number of times I've woke up to see the miku is disconnected from the app. Although it wasn't suited for use on a tablet, we had no problems for months, now that the company is making the app "work" for tablets, we've had to reinstall many times it to re-pair the tablet. I tell my pregnant friends not to buy!!
For a $550 monitor, I am nothing but disappointed in the choice to switch to a subscription model. I have only had mine for 3 months prior to the change and now I can't return it (support has taken over a month to look at my request and still hasn't responded to me) or quite frankly do anything useful with it. This is one of the worst bait and switch tactics for a product I have ever seen and the product itself isn't worth more than $50 with a subscription, let alone $550 WITH a subscription.
The app is absolute garbage, which makes the whole thing worthless. It constantly disconnects audio or video or both and only way to fix is to restart the app, sometimes it takes a couple of minutes. Not okay when baby needs to be checked. Totally unacceptable for a $350 product. Would not recommend and would not buy again. I hear better things about the Nanit, and even my cheap $60 handheld monitor from Amazon is more reliable than the Miku.
I had really high hopes for Miku. If you actually want to be able to use the camera at night...you are out of luck. Constant miku offline message and spinning wheel. The camera works fine during the day. It seems like they spent so much on packaging and analytics, which is nice but ultimately unnecessary at the cost of live monitoring, that they don't have enough servers/processing power to handle the overnight demand. My $80 camera was better.
