Great for language learning from a company that knows how to craft educational materials. The lessons are short and well organized with a variety available to keep your interest. There is actual scaffolding from known to unknown and sneaky learning by context thrown in, as well. I was honestly not sure what to expect after trying a bunch of other language apps. I tried the demo and was sold almost right away. No regrets since.

It's fine. It's no different from any other popular language app except supposedly more correct to native speakers. It does not explain grammar or the reasons for word use and sentence structure or formatting which is a total failure for all current popular language apps in my opinion. I don't want to memorize things, I want to understand them. It's very different.

Great vocabulary and good lessons. You can bookmark and save phrases, but there isn't a way to do a lesson of just your saved phrases. Saved phrases go on a list and you can play them, but it plays so fast that it isn't useful for review. it would be great if it could make custom lessons from saved phrases or at least play the list of saved words slowly enough to and with translation so you could listen and review. wish there was an option for when you can't listen/hear during lessons

Polyglot here. Courses are...okay. Enough to pique my interest. The lifetime subscription does not give access to future languages they add. It cannot be paid through Play Store, so you can't get points for it. Every menu item for the phone support number to pay for the app just says to email support. Support confirmed via email. Pearson has always been terrible and I'm not even going to bother discussing the lack of accessibility.

I like the real world phrases although not all of them are. I also like the option to see past, present, and future tense of verbs. There could be more variation in learning style. It gets redundant when learning the same way all the time. When speaking to the software it interprets something totally different about 15%-20% of the time which is frustrating. My husband is a native speaker to the language I'm learning and sometimes when he speaks phrases or words the software even says he's wrong.

Great app and much better interface than the other app with the silly cartoon figures. However, strange at times introducing words we've never learned and expecting us to spell long phrases properly when it's the first yimeyre being introduced. Developers....keep in mind that if we are new to the language and you want to teach us words or phrases,.teach first and quiz or test later. An example is today's random word being asked to spell that has never been taught "dar la bienvenida".

the best way to learn to speak a language is to speak it. when your voice response system is widly inaccurate. this is a huge problem. I'm trying to say something simple like "Dobar Dan" phonetically," Doh Bahr dahn," comes out as "those are done." This app used to be better. when you spoke to the app, it was more accurate. i dont know if it is the new AI in the phone, thats always trying to predict what you're saying, is causing these issues. but you need to fix this if im going to continue pay

The availability of many languages appealed to me at first, & Ieven purchased an annual membership, but as times progressed (a little more than 2 years), I noticed the learning was becoming stagnant. There isn't a method to learning the alphabet for languages, yet you're giving letters/characters to form sentences or to spell a word. Another issue is the voice lessons, I have had many issues with repeating words + phrases, & the app can't pick up the audio, which is frustrating. Will delete it.

The format of the lessons is really good, and it has the right kind of gamification. However, sometime the translations are a bit freer than I think they should be, which I think makes it harder for a language learner, because it's harder to see the patterns. Also, it often rejects correct answers because it doesn't match the exact translation they intend, even if the answer given is correct and sometimes even more faithful a translation then the intended one.

This app has potential. I think the most frustrating part is the "Put to use" at the end of the lesson. It seems to not pick up what I say very well, and the conversation doesn't continue. Edit: another problem I've just run into, if I'm speaking a sentence with a number, for example in Italian, it's asking me to say dodici but the app copies the number 12 down instead the spelling of the word, and I get marked incorrect.

Nice short lessons, but a lot of times it feels like I'm being thrown into a sentence knowing less than half of the words and am expected to translate it. Would be nice if the English translations had American English translations too, as I sometimes have to stop to find out what an English word means. Above all else though: Never, ever, skip a day if you are a free user. Skipping a day means you can't do the weekly or monthly test since you can't go back to complete the missed day.

Day one. The hands free mode sounded very useful, so I wanted to use mondly while walking. Overall it works okay but has difficulty understanding me at times, with certain kinds of words. For example, I am learning Japanese and had to say "Very well" or "totema genki" (I might have that wrong, it's only day one). Even when my surroundings were pretty quiet, it was almost impossible to get it to recognize "totema". This is frustrating but I'm able to continue the lesson so it doesn't hold me back

I bought this language app because of the variety of languages and the great deal for a lifetime membership. While I am learning some from using it daily, there is definitely room for improvement. Positive: it has categories, such as hotels, restaurants, and more, so you can tailor your learning. Negative:Daily lessons often use random sentences that nobody will use. I have been told how to say the mouse is small several times! Better content needed! Explain grammar a little.

I've had good experience so far while learning Chinese. However, I was casually doing the speaking session of the lesson, and when I spoke into it the word appeared and then a weird noises started playing from the sound wave thing at the bottom of the screen. From then on the chat glitched and wouldn't work. Maybe it was just me, but it was weird and I hope it doesn't happen again.

It has so many languages options and you can learn several different langauges at the same time. The lessons are easy to follow, you can also change the written language preference. It has pronunciation practice as well, which is very helpful. I enjoyed having a short conversation with the chat bot, even when it cannot recognize when I said "私はアメリカから来ました。” I had to lie to get pass the same question. The premium price is very affordable.

Tried the (very) lacking free lesson; I feel it could be good for those who are fairly familiar with their intended learning language (for me, French). It seems a little too short of a free try to know for sure if it'll be very beneficial in the long run and pushes you to buy into their subscription after everything you do, which is annoying. Doesn't seem to have much explanation for basic grammar lessons but the chatbot is something I'd like to try more, if not for the "buy now" restrictions.

I like this app enough I PAID FOR IT ! LOL XP Seriously tho, I use this app a lot. Presently learning 3 langauges and plan to add more. Barely had scratched the surface with the free version , but after a few months of use I decided to spend $50.00 and get a year's subscription. That's less than 15 cents a day. A bargain compared to many other pieces of learning software.

Halfway through the first lesson, I'm done. Very similar to Duolingo, but not free. I'm not a fan of this learning process for Japanese at all! Frustrating, and not likely to progress as fast as they think. There are a lot of missing words or translations for words that leave you guessing when you're trying to learn (not helpful, irritating, and a waste of time). I tried 3 Pimsleur lessons, and it is a little better, but I really don't like their process either. 😑 I'll have to keep looking

This app is misleading. "Free" needs to be removed from the title. This is a paid app! It's also very easy to accidentally subscribe and get charged because of the subscription pop-up window that comes up every time you click on anything other than the daily and "Hello" lessons or the chat bot. It would be more appropriate to use the word "Trial". Save yourself some time and avoid the annoyance by getting Duolingo or LingoDeer instead.

I'm impressed by the number of languages offered. It's a great app for learning specific phrases, which are conveniently categorized by topic. I also appreciate the learning statistics. Where Mondly can be improved is its chatbot speaking exercises. It's a fun way to get a feel for a real-life conversation, but the suggested responses are limited (ex. I don't want to order fish or chicken for breakfast) and the speech detection technology often fails to understand me (maybe part user error).
