Gameplay loop is too repetitive with drop chances of the higher tier loot being too small and to top that off they lock event-exclusive cosmetics behind the highest tier monsters that need t10 weapons to have a chance to defeat, which I remind you that you need that stupidly rare loot to craft. All around frustrating to play. Edit: And now they're pulling holiday-exclusive items from the store incredibly early while letting players who already purchased them keep them. Honestly, wth?????
The combat itself is good, but the dodging feels delayed and unresponsive. It was great at the start because they gave 10 first aid meds a day instead of 5 which just isn't enough. Potions should just be creatable but instead they're like $1 each for some reason? The microtransactions have gotten much more egregious in the past 2 years. It went from a layered armor to special quests, materials and even a battle pass which costs $20. Only buy the pass when you've gotten the tier of what you want.
Pro: Visuals, monsters and weapon design are great. Frequent high quality updates. No ads Cons: Monetization is all over the show. No way to earn premium currency, and levels are pointless after the first dozen or so. Time limit for hunts is tiny. The game itself still is running better lately but connection is still very problematic. The slightest deviation from perfect connection and the game says nope, even at the complete screen, which is abysmal for a walking/gps based game
I have nothing wrong with the game entirely, but this game is basically pay to win. You get 5 potions a day, but the rest of them, you have to pay 2 dollars for more potions just to continue the hunt, and that annoys me very much. Here's an idea: Why not make it so you can get potion and stuff like that from doing objects and urgent Quests instead of having to get potion, paintball, or tears/ orbs of wander.
Very fun game. Love everything about it aside from how cash-grabby it can be. The potions are limited so you can't play very often unless you pay money to get 10 free potions a day. If they made the potions cost Zenny instead then the game would be much more fun. Overall it's an amazing game you won't want to put down, but you'll have to if you wish to save your money.
has been a fun game this past month with smooth game play. It is getting pretty repetitive though and I find myself coming back to it fewer times and farther between. I can NOT cut on adventure sync no matter how many times I try. Also not sure if I just haven't seen it yet but is there an option for friends to be made and perks of having them? Some kind of monster collecting/training, and a way to battle with them? Or is the entire point of this game to kill monsters all day and craft items?
I played Ingress for a while and stopped when Pokémon Go came out. Been playing POGO on and off for years and still do more frequently cus of PVP. Got into MH Now few days ago. Quickly hit a paywall I never experienced with the other games. I have no potions. I literally can't do the basic function of the game without any potions. At least with pokeballs, you can always spin some stops or send/receive free gifts and keep going. It all seems to be paywalled in MH Now and less incentive to play.
The actual monster hunting combat is super fun, but all the little micro transactions that were snuck in really ruin the fun. The biggest one for me is the item box filling up almost constantly when you are at higher ranks. I get needing to make a profit off of this game, but the item box thing just sucks any life or fun that I could be having out of the game. I also wish that you could seek out ANY monster that you've hunted before with the paintballs, not just whatever is in rotation
later level play is absolutely beyond ridiculous. I have been stuck on my weapon for over a *month*, all because it needs FORTY tails for one upgrade. a lvl TWO material that somehow virtually NEVER drops. add in the diluted monster pool, the bloat all the other items do to your item box, which also aren't junk unless you want to be stuck for months again for a different part afterword, and late game is just way more trouble than it's worth. this "grind" is beyond ridiculous Niantic
still playing it as it's easy to pop in and kill some time. UI is getting cluttered with more and more pop ups on screen like other FTP mobile games. A lot of pricey items, cosmetics, event passes and season passes. For a game I am having a hard time finding full squads in dimensional, they sure are trying to sell a lot. None of it is really required to play, outside of the event passes. If they weren't constantly $15+ maybe I would buy a few things here and there.
For someone who knows little about Monster Hunter and downloaded it off the suggested board, it's not bad. I like how it mixes Pokemon with Pathfinder. 1 request- Would it be possible to implement a "Lazy Mode"? IE, for those of us who want to explore the map, but are shackled to our desks for eight hours, give us the ability to explore but with a reduced gain. Something like, 1/4 loot/HRP instead of full?
Going to edit my review. I got addicted to this game because I am a giant fan of the series and have a bit of an addictive personality. Spent around 500 dollars on this game. Had the subscription, all that. Now I don't. I got caught up in my passion for hunting monsters and forgot about the terrible cash grab design of mobile games. The game is fun. I still play it, but just remember that it feeds off of people's addictions and any lack of patience you may have. Good luck.

It's a good game, but I have some gripes. When fighting a large monster, the time limit is horrible. a fight I could win? didn't do it in a minute and 10 seconds, so you don't win. why? also, the rate of monsters spawning is very slow, and if someone wants to play without getting up and walking, well sorry. my palico barely ever marks monsters, I don't think it has ever been 2. so yeah. 7/10. needs work.
There are a few glitches in the game. But its still fun to see the Monsters from the game. Edit 2/3/2026 Its a very slow grind for materials, but they have placed events where you dont need as much to upgrade. Glad the Drift stones changed to 2k, along with now 20 spots on equipment reforging. Riftborn monsters are a bit difficult but still enjoy the challange. Bases are a work in progress, still fun to build them up(when you find one). This game is Very Enjoyable, simple to get the hang of.
I love hunting monsters and never worrying about my storage. HOWEVER- the framerate can be really bad sometimes. The timer is based on real time, so your hunts can end up frequently timing out after giving you a lovely slideshow on why the monster's inputs don't get lost in the framerate while yours do. It can even lag in the menus. My best solution to these moments is to quickly tab out and in again to the game. It lags again like 20 seconds later, but it does help.
Overall a mostly positive experience! Gameplay is fun & the building of sets is great but the game is a little predatory with microtransactions including the pass, special hunts, and potions, given how much damage some of the harder monsters be doing. The grind for upgrading armor is a little much sometimes, but they did at least improve it for weapons a little while back. Looking forward to Insect Glaive though! And overall very nice amount of new content. Wish more loadouts were free.
was loving this game until I upgraded to a new phone. now the game lags like crazy. I've done all the downloads and tried all setting combinations, hoping it would stop, but it continues. the worst part is that the only thing that lags is the the fighting while the timer continues to run like normal. I went from killing 9stars to struggling with 6star monsters due to the time running out. it's ridiculous, have to get rid of a game I've had so much fun wirh
Its too bad there is disgusting trickery to get you to accidentally spend your tokens. I purchased the starter pack with the infinite carving knife that lasts 7 days. I also purchased the premium season pass. The season pass gives 6 carving knives. I did not receive any because of a glitch with the infinite carving knife. Customer Support did nothing but ask what the issue was 4 times. There is a $5 or 300tk button at the end of hunts that rests by your thumb. WITH NO CONIFRMATION. Its theft.
Very F2P-friendly and significantly more enjoyable than Pokemon Go because it requires actual skill and not just mindless button mashing. You can play 80% of the game while being stationary at home or at work. Some of the endgame content like HAT or EDI require physically being at specific waypoints, but wild spawns can spawn anywhere. All the complaints here about not enough free potions are from people who have not learned how to guard /dodge, which is a skill issue and not a paywall issue.
Super addicting. A long, slow grind. They consistently add new monsters, gear and cool features. They really know how to make and maintain a good game. I recommend joining the Discord channel or the subreddit for advice on how to use weapons to their full potential, and for good builds so that you don't waste your time and materials. One big downside is it's very enticing to spend lots of real money and it's not cheap so I wait for discounts. The per-month $10 hunter pass is the best value.
