MSN

I like the varied news sources with the MSN app, but with Microsoft being in the top 3 of the I.T. game, you'd think they would figure out how to get the correct video to play when you tap on you want to watch from the home page. Plus, it seems that half of the stories on the homepage are videos that you cannot access. I've left feedback twice re this and nothing changes. Will probably uninstall and go to another news app, again!

This used to be a fun app in which you could collect points to get a simple gift card. Now it's going dystopian on me and the algorithm is not allowing me to redeem my points and yes I have plenty of points to use. 3 times I contact customer support and nothing resolved. I try again and now they won't even let me submit my issue. They definitely have major glitch issues in their news articles as well. Somebody at Microsoft if you see this...do something instead of sipping on Starbucks all day.

I only downloaded this for the "deals" section. Not sure what the point of the rest of the app is since it's basic stuff you could do with things that come pre-downloaded on a phone, but whatever. Anyways, the deals section barely works. Half the time you can't scan a receipt. I had a special gas deal not go through, put in a ticket, and never got a response back. I waited over a month. Just awful. Definitely not worth the few pennies you get back. There are definitely better apps for that.

The most comprehensive news app I've found, and the dark mode is essential. I won't use a news app without it. Use it on my laptops too. Even has comics, like a real newspaper. BUT it has a basic problem: it responds poorly to touch! I often have to tap several times to get an item to open, sometimes I have to press and hold, sometimes things won't open at all. It's very inconsistent, and it's not my phone, every other app works fine. You'd think this is like Coding 101 for a touch screen app.

Customization is nearly nonexistent. I turn off every news feed check box and my news feed is still full of articles... Imagine that. I have an rss link and there's no way to enter it. In other words, you get what their useless algorithms give you and nothing more. Algorithms are the bane of useful information on the internet. Y'know, cuz if our algorithm doesn't think you need it, then you don't!

Frustrating app that has gone through many changes lately. You have categories for a reason, yet 1/2 the content in a category doesn't belong. Take for example "NFL", a large portion of the stories are college, a shooting near a high school, and high school. Some articles are not articles and instead links to some random podcast. Other articles track how often you view the sources content and then cuts you off. I'm finding myself using this app less and less because of those three reasons.

They trick you into installing the app with a promise of 1000 Rewards Points, but then don't give you the points. This is happening to many people. Customer support asks for information and proof, then finally responds with a irrelevant email saying they had a conversation with you, that you made purchase, and they will refund it. No conversation, no purchase, what is there to refund? They cheat you.

Edit 3/28/24 The app still sucks, won't open stories and kicks you out if you try to read too many comments. And the website is back to forcing you onto the app to read any content. Would rate zero stars. If you're going to force people on to the app in order to read the stories from your website, at least make the app WORK. It closes every time I try to read the comments and in general if I'm on it for more than 5 minutes.

Learning to use this app at first was a struggle, just so much useless stuff in one app and trying to find where to go to scan the receipt was like finding a needle in a hay stack. Its location is constantly changing. Sometimes, it's on the banner when you first open the app, and sometimes it's not. While using the camera to scan, the camera within the app slows down to about 1 frame per 5 mintues, making it extremely difficult to use, have a brand new S23, and the app has remained updated...

The whole reason i downloaded this app was the cashback on receipts offer, but it appears that they have removed a guaranteed payout on any receipts, making the function essentially just a way to collect information without compensating. If the system worked correctly more often and always credited for the deals shown, it would not matter, but with no guarantee of getting anything anymore, it has become little more than data collection. Edit: February 22, 2024: They don't pay on receipts anymore

the app no longer works when making comments. the app seems to reject everything even one word comments such as the word"plan". some comments get posted multiple times while other comments don't get posted at all. if appropriate comments are not going to be accepted just eliminate the feature. also when you click on a video in the stream to watch the whole video, a video from an entirely different story comes up. might as well eliminate that feature too.

I like the overall app, but it can be clunky. I also would like to see fresh content, which I don't know is on the app itself as much as the constant regurgitating of the same list, stories, and opinions. I also hate that if I am reading an article and my phone goes to sleep, even briefly, the article goes blank. I'm dropping 4 to 3 stars. For some time now, stories with links take me to a different story completely. To see the story, I have to copy the link and search for it. very frustrating!

app constantly crashes. when restarting the format style changes. sometimes when launching you can not s foll further than 2-3 rows. clicking on video articles never opens the the correct video or anything closely related.

MSN is a great way to connect to the news. Its fresh digest to different topics and groups is loaded up hourly to keep content up to date in current affairs. I really appreciate the features of the MSN app, but I am disappointed that Urdu, the national language of Pakistan, is not available. Millions of users prefer reading news in their native language, and the absence of Urdu feels excluding. I kindly request the Microsoft team to add Urdu language support to make the app more inclusive and accessible for Pakistani users.

More and more video "news" items that aren't really news. To make matters worse, if you are interested in one, it will almost certainly show you the wrong video if you select it. I have tried flicking through the videos following the one that appears, but not once found the one I actually tried to look at.

Needs Work. A lot of work. First, when there is a video you want to watch, you select it and then the another video comes up and they force you to scroll through many, many videos to try to find the one you wanted in the first place. Second, every one is segmented by several ads. What a time suck! This is their attempt to compete with Tik Tok and gives you ADD. Suffice it to say, I would expect so much more from Microsoft. This app really sucks and gets worse with each update.

A varied enough assortment of different points of view. Comments sections full of uneducated opinions and sometimes gang takeovers. Be nice if people could ponder about more and not be too know it all lol.Like some attempts at logical arguments and ask questions. The app itself ok and works well. Could spend all day here lol....

App keeps crashing. Notifications appear with news articles, when I click on them they don't load and app forces closure.

Video links frequently link to a different video than what is shown. Happens about 75% of the time, making the links rather useless.
