Awful. Barcode rarely reads, which is nothing to do with my phone or the item. You have to manually input then item won't be accepted but if you are lucky enough get one accepted the offer will be 0.01p. Selling transaction must be £5 so that's a lot of items. Total waste of time... avoid! I've taken everything to the charity shop.
Rubbish app, very flakey. While signed into my account, it sometimes remembers my address and puts it in automatically when I go to the checkout, other times I have to enter it again manually. I just tried making a purchase, chose and went through PayPal, as it went back to the Music Magpie app, it hung interminably. Now I have to wait 15 minutes for the item to register back in stock before I can try again.
Unfortunately, this is the worst of all the scanning apps. It's very slow and needs restarting a lot. If you're scanning a lot of items, you will always have quite a few items that miss the box and head off to charity because the scanner records them but doesn't inform you. Webuybooks and ziffit have a better, more accurate app/scanner . I've also found that you always have to contact customer support to get any money. Regarding price paid..ziffit pay more. Webybooks pay less but accept more.
musicMagpie as a whole is a really good service, I've been using it for years to buy/sell dvds. The app is such a time waste though, anytime you hit the back button you're thrown to the main menu. So if you're searching or browsing and tap on 'view product' that's the end of the search/browse. There is no way to just return to the previous page, you just simply have to start again and hope you remember what page you were on. Use the website, it works.
Was fine, now broken!! You search through deals, and add item to basket, but now you can't go back to search results after adding the item. It takes you back to home screen everytime and you have to repeat the search. Absolutely rubbish now, used to buy films and games constantly. But now it's too difficult, do will find somewhere else.
You are being scammed, DON'T USE!!! For instance, I scanned the film Fight Club on DVD on a list of scanned films (around 100 items totalling over £8) and it came up at 1p, like many of the films I had scanned. I deleted it from said DVD list. Somehow I saved and started a new list by accident, so scanned Fight Club again, this time it was 16p??? Erm? Scanned it again on OG list and back to 1p. They aren't giving you the full price you should receive on a list with multiple items. AVOID USING!!
Hit & Miss - when ordering low stock items it is utterly pot luck whether the items will still be available when you check out. This can completely scupper placing orders on a deal (e.g. 4 CDs for £8) as, when you go to check out, one item may have become out of stock, meaning the deal no applies to the remaining in stock items, so you try to choose another replacement & by the time you've chosen & want to check out, Groundhog Day starts again. I just deleted everything & went back to Amazon!
Works really well to begin with. However I log back into the app after a week of not using it and suddenly I don't have access to the scanner function. If I want to sell stuff now I must enter the barcode manually (as you can without the app, just by using the website). Very time consuming. If the app was more reliable I'd give 5 stars, because it is really easy to use and convenient. But I'm frustrated that I can't use the app's full functions simply because I have been away for a short while.
Terrible service. Have had to rebook the courier 3 times and they still have not collected the parcel. It was very difficult to find an email address that would allow me to speak to a real person so complain. I've had this box of books cluttering up my hall for over a week, really losing patience. I wish I'd stuck with Ziffit, I've used them several times in the past & they've always been brilliant Edited to add: over a month later & I've finally given up & taken the boxes to the charity shop!
Last time I used this app it was fine and never had issues. Since the last update features have been removed or changed. You can no longer change courier and you have to cancel the order and completely start again. If selling items it automatically saves to basket and theres no need to save manually, I found this out the hard way. I forgot to change my address and didn't realise until I completed the order, surely it makes sense to have you check your details before you submit rather than after?
I sent a lot of dvds and games and although most were priced at 1p (which I expected). I checked all the dvds were in the correct boxes and that all discs played, yet I received an email saying that a number of boxset were missing discs and that they would not pay me for them. What is blatantly wrong is that they don't return any of the refused items unless they are valued over £15. So not only do they pay pennies (literally) for your stuff. So they keep your stuff and not pay for it. BE WARNED
You pay peanuts for dvds, that other selling companies pay more for. You also do not stick to the trade price when it comes to paying. I put in an order for £6.46 and you paid £3, all dvds were in perfect working order. You also cannot be contacted via the app, only a help search, which is no good if you want to have a conversation or a complaint about an order. I won't be using you again.
Sold a fair bit on here. The app is fast and easy to use. There are a lot of bad reviews saying that they hardly give you any cash for your items, which is mostly true, but I've found most of the time they give more than somewhere like CeX. Plus they buy books too. Simply scan items to add to your basket, print the label they give you and send. I get my payments via PayPal which is usually super fast and I haven't yet been charged any fees.
Terrible, frustrating app. The 'back' navigation takes you back to the home page regardless of how many pages of search you had gone through, instead of the list you were browsing. And the only way forward is by re-searching. There is a 'back to search results' at the top but just not intuitive on a phone. The Basket on the bar at the bottom is only for selling, not if you are buying. It makes buying from you so frustrating
Not sure if this is exactly an app issue but the collection aspect is very frustrating. Waited in all day for collection, he didn't turn up and then turned up on a totally different day and marked my goods as "already collected" (a lie). Rebooked collection for a different day but it didn't happen - I suspect once an order is marked as collected by the courier they will no longer send one out? If collection doesn't work, the app doesn't work!
Sent them some items to sell, they say that you get the option to accept or decline your offer when it's been checked. They tried to offer me £2 for over 20 items, which when i scanned them in was more than 3 tomes this much and they wouldn't give me the option to decline the offer and have my items sent back, I literally just got an email saying payment is on its way and haven't been able to get in touch with anyone or anything to get my stuff sent back.
Absolute waste of time... I don't usually do reviews but this made my blood boil... I was offered £17 for my items, which isnt a lot but I just wanted to get rid... I was then sent £1.01... after trying to get through to customer service for ages, I was told items were missing and other items were damaged... they didn't even think to inform me of this prior to payment... they just kept everything and sent me £1.01...
Do not download this app or use this company! I have received am email from them claiming that items that equate to 75% of the quoted price were not in the box I sent them. This isn't possible as I scanned all the items as I was putting them in the box. All items were sent in the same box. Either the person who unpacked the order decided to keep some items for themselves, or they are lying so they can pay less money and still get all the items. This company are thieves. Beware!!
PLEASE NOTE...something you should really be aware before using... When they receive your dvds/CDs, if they reject them for any reason, they dont pay you for them. But they also DO NOT send you them back. They dispose of them. About 23 of my DVDs were rejected for not meeting their 'standards', even though the majority where new or played only once. So I'm a quite a few pounds short and not only that and they keep them. I've queried this, but there's nothing I can do.
Took 12 rebookings to finally get my items picked up after many complaints. Then after finally getting it picked up they tell me my item was faulty and dropped the price of the phone by£50 pound. The was nothing wrong with it when I sent it. Trading standards really do need to be contacted. I'm furious. Do not use at all costs and use another selling site. You have been warned
