Like so many other reviews, if I'm paying for the app for basic functions for my car, the app should work. Every time. Remote start is basic on every other comparable vehicle these days, but other companies don't charge an additional fee for it. And maybe there was some fine print I didn't read, but when buying my car 4 years ago and asked about remote start, nobody told me that the app they told me to download would one day no longer be free. And it DOESN'T EVEN OPEN!
This app isn't useful. The remote start capability doesn't work (it's a manual transmission), and other than that feature, there's not much there. I'll probably never use the remote lock and unlock. It informs me that the trunk or a door is open, but that's usually because it's open while I'm unloading the car, and the notification arrives long after I've closed the offending trunk or door. The app is OK, but only OK. It's free for now, but when that's over, I sure won't pay to keep it.
Broken app. Not only did remote start work only ~20% of the time, now the app has logged me out. App is telling me my password is wrong. Cool. Go to reset my password & the app's conditions for a password aren't working correctly. As soon as you put in a special character (e.g., %) the app says you don't have enough letters. No combination of letters, numbers, characters satisfies it. So now the app is completely useless and I don't have the remote start that I paid for! Fix it, Mazda!
It's ok at best. the app frequently doesn't start the car when you request it. lately the app logs me out for no reason. it didn't do this for almost a year and now it's constantly. there is zero functionality other then starting your car, locking it, and checking status. the ability to turn on heat/AC would be very nice seeing as it's a paid subscription vs just a remote car starter. I will be cancelling it during the summer months.
This was a 5-star review when I first got the car... Update: Tire pressure readings don't match what the car displays and are all over the place... some higher some lower, by a LOT. Shutting the engine down as soon as a door is opened (following a remote start) is NOT an anti-theft device, it's a nuisance to anyone trying to clean snow and ice off while the car warms up. Hire better programmers.
The app doesn't even open 80% of the time. just a blank black screen with no options. Force stopping the app doesn't help. Clearing the cache and storage does nothing. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app does nothing. And when you do reinstall you have to start from scratch reconnecting to your car. Then Mazda has the nerve to charge a monthly fee on top of that, whether or not the app is working. This is my last Mazda for sure.
the app auto logged out and I couldn't log back in. I googled it and found out that it is free only for 3 years. No one told me about this when I purchased the car. No way I am paying for the app. BTW, mazda car safety alerts features are horrible. constantly alerted when not dangerous. In real dangerous situations, it did nothing. No more Mazda.
App is useless. They updated the app and I can't even sign back in. I ask to reset my password, they say they are sending me an email, while there is a 10 min countdown ticking, I never receive that email. I finally received it 8 hours later. I am locked out at this point. A disaster and a useless app. Plus you have to pay $10 a month just to be able to remote start, as your keyfob will NOT have remote start. Shame.
When service is due soon... why, for the love of everything, can I not say "scheduled". Every time I open the app I see the message. It's seriously annoying. I'd love to see a WearOS app. The features aren't enough to want to pay for it. If I could mess with the climate controls, or turn on the heated seats. I might consider it. As of now, the only true feature you have is remote start behind a pay wall. This will just force people to purchase 3rd party remote start hardware.
the app is pretty limited in what it can actually do and it takes forever to do it. long time just to open, to log in, to open once it's logged in, to tell you the door is unlocked etc. and it doesn't connect to the car sometimes. sometimes the remote start doesn't work and it tells you it failed, sometimes it doesn't work and also doesn't tell you it failed. overall it's unreliable and slow, not a great app, especially for one that costs money. I like what it can do when it works
Edit: 11/24 app is still trash Edit: 2/17/25 app is still trash I live in an area that has below freezing temps for most of the winter and it is unacceptable that the app fails to connect more than half the time. When it does manage to connect the remote start fails a good chunk of the time. If it takes me 10 minutes just to remote start my car (if it works at all) it defeats the purpose entirely.
The app is so slow I can't log in. Half the time auto start doesn't work due to a server error. For the price it should be able to do more than just lock doors and auto start. You cant turn on the heated seats for example and the heat setting for the car don't persist through restarting. For me the whole point of auto start is avoiding cold mornings.
I used it for a few years and it was a nice convenience. But paying for the occasional remote start and lock/unlock isn't worth any price. I also wasn't told it wouldn't be free after the warranty expired. If it did more, like allow me to turn on the heat or air, or start Android Auto before I get there I might consider it. Most of these are free on other vehicles (I was just looking at OnStar and they provide it free for eight years) and are more capable. My brother's Honda Accord is amazing.

After spending $35k on a car, it is then brave to ask for $10/month for the ability to remote start it, which the feature is "ok" during the 3 months it is cold enough to use. Unfortunately, Mazda has lost a customer as keeping a dead app on my phone outweighs the convenience of being able to schedule dealership visits through the app. Good Job guys!
This app' is only OK. Needs improvement. And now it does not work at all. I've 'force stopped', and even uninstalled/reinstalled all to no avail. So, now the app' is basically worthless. The car isn't due for service for another 5,000 miles, so I'm not going to drive an hour+ to the dealer for an app' issue. I certainly won't be re-upping for this app' once the trial period ends. And notice, Mazda hasn't responded to any reviews about the app's shortcomings! Very telling!
The smartwatch version of the app only works for Apple Watches, but we're all paying the same price to use it, even if Android users are getting less of an experience 🙂 The main/phone version is fine - the basic functions work - but are wildly over priced (on a per month basis) to even use those. The app is also clunky. The Health Report information is minimal. I had higher hopes for the price.
A lot of wasted space in this app, resulting in a lot of needless swiping and scrolling. The Remote and Status tabs, for example, could have been combined since they have overlapping purposes. It also just feels slow, especially opening the app, which runs you through the log in every time (automatically at least). Remote start, by design, shuts off when you open the door, seems like there could be a better way to implement security. I won't be paying for it after my trial period ends.
For a long time this app worked pretty well, specifically through my trial period. Now that it's over, and when I need it most during freezing weather, it fails. They're basically just charging $10 per month for remote start (because the other features are basically worthless), and at that price point I'd expect additional features such as being able to turn my defrosters on or bare minimum adjust the temperature. Honestly their whole response to all this turns me off of buying another Mazda.
When it works it's great. Unfortunately, it is unreliable. While it is stable (ie the app doesn't crash), the Mazda app will often fail to perform a task (like starting a remote charging session, locking a door, or starting climate control). It has also frequently prevented users from logging into the app (error E900500). Separately, the app doesn't support multiple users. If you share a car with anyone else in the household, only one person can be logged in at a time.
The app is fine. Slow, but it works. 1 star for Mazda attempting to charge a monthly fee for the app, so no more remote start. The app provides bare-bones diagnostics; nothing special. The only reason anyone would pay for it is remote start. If you're going to charge for the app, build the remote start into the key fob like everyone else. Pretty classless move from a company I otherwise like.
