myQ Garage & Access Control

Alerts are unreliable. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't. Turning on & off notification will fix the problem, but I had to do this at least once a month. If you get an ad to setup Amazon Prime access, it will block ALL alerts, until you set it up, or close the ad. If you close the ad, the ad keeps coming back & blocks ALL notifications. If you need reliable notification of your garage door is open, go with a Xfinity security camera.

Notifications that my door has opened or closed come in 20-30 minutes after it happened.Chamberlain recently removed lots of 3rd party integrations. Using this app as a replacement is awful. Lots of push notification ads to buy more of their products and subscriptions. Next time I need a garage door opener, I'll look elsewhere so I'm not forced to use this awful app. Update: Yet more ads after the latest update, and Home Assistant still broken. No way to add the promised per-user remote either.

Well, it does work OK, but it's way too slow to start. Takes almost 10 seconds on my Pixel 8 Pro with a good internet connection, probably due to the GD ads (which sometimes hide to actual controls). Because of all the ads, I'll never buy one of the products, but I guess that doesn't bother them. Too bad, as the opener is very nice. But I'm only comparing it to old chain-drive openers from Sears, so maybe others are just as good.

I think the most recent update is causing issues. I have two myQ remote LED lights connected, and they have worked flawlessly for over a year. They turned on when my door is opened, or when the panel detects motion, or when i manually turn them on. They turned off automatically after around 5 minutes. I recently noticed the lights were turning on by themselves. It's not from the door opening, or from motion. I reset the lights and the problem persists. I think it's the app.

5/17/25 update. The app won't open. It just stays on the blue screen with the spinning circle like it's loading, but never goes beyond that. I have not received notifications for the past few weeks. The app is up to date, my internet has not changed, and as far as I can tell it is connected. Please get this mess fixed. The whole reason we bought these openers was for the app capabilities, but this makes it useless at this point. We have no outdoor opener other than the ones in our vehicles.

The MyQ Panel and app are more of an enhanced remote than a reliable security tool. Notifications occur 3-7 minutes after the event (or later), which is not very helpful in responding to the event. Often, when I get a notification, I have to go back and look; was that me from 15 minutes ago or is there someone else in the drive? As a result I probably ignore notifications, which sort of defeats the purpose.

Timestamps are 2 hours off and do not see a way to change it in the app. Everything else I have seems to change to the correct time. I wish there was a way to shut off the camera on the keypad for times when you don't want to record such as when you are working in your driveway and don't want to record several times of yourself working and using up battery needlessly. Also, the night vision needs help and only is useful when you are right up against the keypad.

I'd avoid MyQ and their products for the time being, although they seem to be in a marketing push it's clear their apps and infrastructure is not up to par. I haven't been able to login to the app on A15. They don't have any info on the error code and their support staff doesn't reply, tried new accounts, and different Android devices, same issue. It's a shame because they do have some interesting hardware -- great if you can actually use it.

I regret my purchase solely because of this awful app and service. They have made the loading screen longer. The ads for more MyQ stuff loads faster than the button to open my garage does. I still can't use it via Google Home, probably so they can continue to show me ads. And to top it off, it often doesn't work. The device is up and on my network. The garage openers still work, it's simply not getting the command from the app servers.

I've been a user of the MyQ system for a very long time. I guess you could say I'm an early adopter. Years and years ago it worked fantastically. In recent times it has gone downhill significantly. The app has gotten increasingly complicated and the most recent issue I've experienced is the app sometimes takes literally minutes to load and get to a point where you can toggle the garage door. if I wanted to wait minutes I would just go press the button. This is a review of my replacement MyQ. I had connectivity issues with my first one. I couldn't view it in real time, and had issues viewing recorded videos. The new one connected fine, and recorded videos for 4 days, then it stopped. No connection, no recording. The only thing that works is the garage door operation. Thats why I give it two stars.

Don't know why but I constantly have to log back in, and five times now it's forgotten my device existed. Then there's the times when it just can't open the garage door even though it can close it. Now it takes forever to open. every other smart device including the cheap off brand ones work better than this. it should not take over a minute to load and open your garage door. years later, all they have added is more ads. switching to something else.

App suddenly will not connect to the server since I switched to a newer phone (Pixel 7). Tried changing app permissions. Still won't work. edit: 3 years later and the app hasn't been updated. bought a new MyQ garage hub. Will not connect. can't get through Bluetooth and WiFi setup without some kind of drop out or error. It's never the same issue that prevents it from working. Probably just going to return the Hub. Complete junk.

It alerts me when my door opens & closes, as well as the options of having it remind me that the door is still open after so long, or at a particular time that I set, as being too late to still be open. Then, it can also be set to automatically close at that particular time, & upon that closing time, the only thing that would prevent it from closing, is if there's an object between the sensors at the bottom of the door. Followed by an alert ⚠️ indicating it couldn't be closed.

Keeps disconnecting. Garage opener just disappears from the app. ads are horrible. Pain to connect, takes twenty tries. App doesn't show you signal strength once connected. I ended up with two hubs and it froze near the end but ended up being added. No way to setup automatic closing after open for some time. No notifications if the door is left open. No Google or Alexa integration. Horrible attempt at a smart opener.

App works well for opening and closing, remotely. Set notification for open and closed. Rarely get open notification, the most important one. Get notifications for camera motion, even though it's not set. if I had known the app sucked, I would have installed a Genie. Not a well put together app. Chamberlain won't answer reviews, only says to call.

This app won't operate the garage door opener unless I also install that opener's standalone overhead LED light. I don't want to install that light; my garage has plenty of ceiling lights already. The app also constantly nags me to enable the feature where Amazon drivers can open my garage door to leave packages. I absolutely do not want that. 100% failure in user experience.

Horrible App after updates! When I first downloaded the app after installing a new garage door opener, the app was just fine. It opened up fast so I could open my garage within 3 seconds or so. Now...after one update, the app constantly crashes or gets hung up on the title screen and never opens. Almost useless. Now I'm going to have to find a new opener since the app isn't reliable.

Very limited usefulness. the app is mostly ads for their own products and other companies (like Walmart). The app continually has problems logging into the server which means you cannot use it at that time. When trying to create an automatic schedule to close the door at night, I get an error message stating a schedule already exists, but none are actually visible on the schedule screen.

This updated review from 1 star to 3 star. After an update, all my garage opener devices and settings disappeared from the app. I spent months trying to reconnect them. One opener connected via the website by manually entering the serial number. The second wouldn’t connect because the app kept showing a device with non-matching digits. The fix was choosing “search for another device”. Only then did the app find my actual device with matching digits, and it connected to Wi-Fi instantly.
