The camera is great. the app software sucks. I've waited hours for videos to load or "sync". I'm missing videos from random days. I have ALL permissions enabled and it gives me a permanent message that says "Allow Nexar to send notifications so we can start recording automatically". I've checked about 297 times; they're enabled. Considering getting a different dash cam. paired with the app, this one's as good as the dinky camera I got in 2003
I would say costumer service is A+ Some of the technical troubleshooting steps are way over the top. I had my Nexar beam for 4.5 years. There has always been spotty problems. 2 stars for reliability. plus 1 star for Customer service although troubleshooting can be very long, tedious, and frequent. But I'd still choose Nexar over the others.
I've had to drop my review to 2 stars since the last software update. The camera is no longer being detected. I've reset the camera multiple times, but to no avail. FOLLOW-UP: I was able to do a full factory reset on my camera, and now the app sees the camera. Not sure what happened before, but glad the camera is working again. Bringing review back up to four stars.
I've had this camera a little over a year and at this point I wouldn't recommend. Most of the time my drives aren't recorded. I have a front and inside view, the inside view will show it's recording in the moment but then I can't find the videos after the drive. I just got back from driving 2 hours one way then back again and my drive there or back are not recorded. It started off great for a few months but has given me problems since.. Seems it may be about time to try a different brand.
App features that randomly don't work. Recordings that randomly don't exist. Cloud uploads that don't occur for weeks. The constant blinking light on the camera when I start the camera from anywhere but my own driveway. And now that I actually NEED the "Crash Report" for some reason it can't send me an email, and the support button doesn't work.
The app is booty. I now have the S24 Ultra, and I still have issues with playback! I have a 29 minute recording of a recent drive, but the app won't play back after the first couple of mins. Which essentially makes the entire recording useless and a waste of space. Other videos are hit-or-miss. Some work and some don't work at all. Also, the camera cuts in and out. I have the NexC1. Gonna buy a competitor's dashcam when I get the money.
Camera works great. However, if you turn on the ability for the videos to be saved to your phone, your phones battery will die in a very few hours. I have to turn that off. It seems when the vehicle is parked, the app is still using up the battery on my phone for no reason. I have to make sure the app is not running in the background or my Android phone dies in like four hours. Usually my phone lasts more than a day on the battery. This is not acceptable and has been a problem with them fo
The dash cam itself works great. The app is the issue. If I don't manually press "stream" on the app, sometimes only like half of my drive is recorded to my phone, sometimes only even the last minute of my drive. Another issue is the interior cam. It works fine when I press "stream", but when I finish my drive and look at my clips, I can't find any way to see the interior cam footage at all.
Absolutely useless!!! After a bunch of hardware problems, I got the thing working and thought it was all good as I drove around daily. However, when I finally want to get a video, this piece of garbage is absolutely useless. At first I thought it was my android phone, but my spouse's iphone doesn't do any better. In android, it keeps trying to fetch clips (indefinitely) and won't let me download a video because it hasn't downloaded the clip. In Apple, it didn't even record the entire video.
For over a year, I've not been able to do a live stream while away from my cam. Alerts are received until I connect to my dashcam, not while away, but with the LTE add on that shouldn't be the case, as advertised. Support only gives you the generic trouble shoots to only tell you it's your phone's reception. Then they switch to the camera being in a poor reception area. So I asked for a new camera, wasn't sent one. I asked for an LTE add-on, they won't since they can't confirm that's the issue.
It started off doing okay with my Note 20 Plus. Now after a month or two its all messed up. It will say it has incidents such as parking lot, or the other types of warnings and i am not able to see the video of the problem. There is no record of the incident or just a black screen. It sent off parking lot alert while i was driving. Go figure. Yeah i found out after i bought the nexar that only my phone out of the samsung line up was not compatible, go fig huh.
Worst product I've bought in a long time. I got the camera on clearance, thank god because it's trash. The app starts recording anytime my phone moves even an inch. On top of that i can't get the camera to connect to see the video so i can verify it's still pointing correctly. I checked today, and all i have are blank "videos". It apparently hasn't recorded video for months now. It just eats up my battery for nothing.
Overall this is pretty nice. Convenient quick-start, good quality, easy to edit videos, my only complaint is how long the camera stays recording when my car is off. Sometimes I'll come out of a store and it'll still be recording. But, overall, I'm happy with it and would go with this again if given the choice.
It used to be spectacular. Audio and camera quality was great but now what's the point of it if it doesn't record or save the drive videos? It acts like it does and then it's just a blank. It's been like that for months and there are no fixes happening. At this rate I'll end up looking for a new dash camera... Edit: They did reach out and after a lot of back and forth, we worked out the issue. It's been working great again thankfully. Bonus that they were very nice and professional.
I like the app, but it does have its flaws. First is how it drains my phone's battery. Since it's chilling in the background may not even notice. I have to plan to charge my phone just to cover up what this app takes up. Second is that wifi has to be on the phone to work, even though you are not even connected to wifi which I found odd. If the battery issue can be resolved, that would be great, but the way it is, I have to give it three stars.
Developers have reached out to me and took me off the notification list, which is great. But notifications should be something you can easily opt out of (without having developers do it) in app like most apps do. Some people like it, some people get annoyed by it. I'm the type of person that only wants notifications I ask for. I generally do like the app for what it is meant to do, which is connect to my dash cam almost as soon as I start my car, and record my drives. That's all I need!
Finding it difficult to connect to my phone, no phone number to call for support issues. Very expensive and still charges a monthly fee. I was able to connect to my phone at the beginning, and it was working fine. I traveled for 2 weeks plus, and when I came back, it stopped streaming on my phone and couldn't connect thereafter. Why would a company sell such an expensive gadget without creating a more convenient platform for support issues. Please, don't buy. This is my small piece of advice.
For starters it's difficult to figure out how to get the actual file for your dash cam videos and download it, figured out a workaround where I email the video to myself. Also I'm constantly fighting with the app to stop recording when I don't want the camera to. Even if I disable WIFI the app is constantly trying to connect to the camera. Major battery drain, major annoyance. So far this camera and its app have been nothing but a headache and the video quality isn't even that good. Waste of $.
Had the device in active use for about three months now since my 1st review, which warranted 5-stars based on connectivity & easy installation. Now after continuous use, I have experienced issues w/unusual disconnection, and poor logging out ability. As well, I sometimes have to reboot the entire connection by powering on/off, sometimes more than once. Thus, one can see how this is annoying & even frustrating at times. For the majority of its functionality, the device appears to do its job.
Constantly trying to sync drives even if I haven't driven in days. there's nothing to sync! stop wasting my data and phone battery. There aren't even any settings to control how frequently syncing happens. Then I get notifications about parking incidents and to use the app to check them except there's never a parking incident to view when I open the app. If the app didn't do the bare minimum that it needs to do, I'd give it 1 star.
