It's fine, but of very limited use. Works well for a handful of things: managing friends, seeing online status, showing some NSO game hubs, and viewing your own high level game play history stats. But why in the world is there no eShop integration? Why can't I manage my wishlist, check prices, or purchase through this app? Only way to do it is via a separate web browser login. I want an all-in-one Nintendo App. Not a Switch app, a Nintendo Music app, a Nintendo Today app, and a web browser.
This app is useful for tracking your stats in some games, and even lets you remotely do some things, even when you're not playing. If you care about your performance in, say, Splatoon, you can use the app to track which weapons you excel with, and the ones you'll need more practice with. Voice chat is obsolete, as other apps with voice chat exist. Overall, solid choice for those that want more out of their NSO membership! Would definitely recommend to friends and content creators!
Got this to save up points and talk to friends... still a bit too nervous to talk to friends. My main complaint is that you can't text friends or anything, you can only try and call them, which just isn't my thing cuz I don't want to bug friends like that. If I could send a "hey, you up for traveling to my island " would be convenient. I understand that that feature could be abused, so I understand why it's not implemented.

A nice little companion app for the Nintendo Switch. If you don't play games with online components (i.e. Splatoon, visiting friends in Animal Crossing), this may not do much for you. But if you do play such games, you may as well download it because it does have some cool stuff. You don't need to bother with voice chat at all, though, use Discord instead.
Zelda Notes is a must for Zelda players; it makes collecting fun and has dialogue regarding places in the game. It also allows item transfers between games and even shipping botw items to totk. The supported games are limited, but that isn't bad. An app shouldn't be for every single title ever, though I saw a poor review for exactly that. I recommend downloading the app and seeing if it is applicable to you; if it isnt, simply unload it for now. Check later.
Honestly this app is REALLY handy. It's only 4 stars for reasons I'll cover. My first complaint or feedback is that there should really be a way to buy games on the phone. This may be pushing it but you could make ways to get coupons and get a discount. Another thing is that there should be a texting system alongside with being able to send screen shots! I think there should also be a way to cast to your phone and you really should add mario maker to see how many likes you get. Thx for reading!!
Should've gave this to the console, not the phone. If ur gonna use voice chat, u can call each other. I'd rather them put the app on the console and it's an app that's always open(so u can play games with app still running) and u can voice chat on any game. Or create parties and simply play a single player game while talking to ur friends. This had potential, but it was wasted.
Its pretty useful for animal crossing, so I can quickly search for items, turnip prices tracker is really helpful too! However, it won't update my creator code no matter how many custom designs I've uploaded. It would be nice to be able to share it quickly with a screenshot of my passport instead of having to save it elsewhere and copy/paste every time.
Great app, but I don't have much use for going into it, because Nooklink only has SIX items to purchase. Kind of lame considering you get 10 coins each time you check in. Once you have all the items, there's zero reasons to continue to do it. It takes away a lot of the Daily Do's fun that Animal Crossing is known for. I'm pretty sure everyone would greatly appreciate some more items to try and get, AND would also get more users to go on the app AND encourage others TO BUY THE SUBSCRIPTION!!
The app is absolutely fantastic now with the new zelda update. Two things that I would like to see in the future, though, are more voice memories with different characters for the breath of the wild. I mean It would be absolutely amazing if there were some voice memories for the champions or King roahm or maybe impa. Second, I would like to see more games become compatible in some way with the app.
Good where it's used, but not the best. Still, has everything that is Nintendo there for you. Jack of all trades, master of none. The paid service is often regarded as poor, due to the need for purchase and mediocre service. It is understandable to an extent, such as working off of WiFi, though many times I've been temporarily banned, kicked, or just outright abruptly disconnected due to the online suddenly just stopping. In comparison to Discord, which has no such issue, this is odd at least.
Could be better, but overall I enjoy the idea of a mobile app integrated with other platform games. We used this for Animal Crossing only, but it has other game support. Voice chat for your friend while playing online together is great. It's a little strange that it is outside of the Nintendo Switch, but I got used to it. It worked well. We used it mostly for designing custom content which was amazing. We'd go to a website online and make the design, use this app to scan a QR code and bam! It was in the game! So cool.
I think this should be like a Nintendo reddit if you will. With you connecting your Nintendo account to send your screenshots, and posting messages with them. Maybe even fanart and more. Just something that makes it feel more... ONLINE! It at least looks nice, and I like the Splatoon features, they just need to do it for more than Splatoon. Plus let us message our Nintendo friends.
This app is good at what it does, but It proposes a problem: "What if I want to voice chat with my friends?" That might sound simple, just text them on discord or something, but what if you only know them on the switch? You can't communicate to them AT. ALL. the only way you can is if you both are friends on animal crossing, which is hard. Its good for its job, but nintendo really needs a text-chat feature either on the app or on the switch itself. We just need to message our friends. That's it.
I, like others, am caught in a login loop from hell. I open the app, it says sign in, I select my account, and we return to the sign in page...over and over. Even called Nintendo customer service last night, and they started a ticket because they say this is so strange (though so many reviews have the same problem)...hopefully I can update with a more positive response when (if) they've resolved my ticket.
Ima throw an idea into your Dev think tank. An app that is just like this but isnt this. An app where you can view your switch online marketplace on the go, purchase games, look at the games, watch trailers, browse, and, be able to message friends, add/remove friends, see their status. And better yet it's an app that can be used and updated with all future consoles!
Not how voice chat should have to be done, and useless otherwise. If you don't play splatoon, or heck, even if you don't have friends that play Mario party online, you're kinda left out. A few games offer a wider variety of online chat options which can be useful, but I just don't see why at the very least switch doesn't take Bluetooth headsets and just save all the headache.
I've edited my review as the app now has much more features for more games. It also is more stable and is overall a wonderful improvement... in particular with the addition of the Zelda games. It has never crashed and is fast and responsive. It connected to my Nintendo account and in turn to my switch 2 with no issues. 👏
So, considering it's a medley of companions app, I'll begin saying I only use Zelda notes and the ACNH one for a bit. So, about Zelda notes : The navigation system is such a good feature for finding every secret in the game. I remember doing korok seeds without it in 2019. not the same! The play data feels a bit incomplete. I would like to know more when I click on the data. maybe a full amiibo tracker should be in the general app for every amiibo instead of letting 3rd party app doing it.
kind of angry that, yes, it connects to the correct switch, but it won't let me disconnect to an old game account. Example. I had restarted my animal crossing new horizons game, then i found out the app allows you to, if saved up, to buy special items on the app. only to realize that it's connected to the old one I deleted.
