With advances in tech, cloud storage should be cheaper, larger, & easier, not smaller, more expensive, & more difficult. Especially when you pay $140-$170 for a frame, it should all be included. Now Nix decides to just change their terms? What started as a great idea, has now become a money grab. Don't waste your money on this, especially when shared cloud storage exists and apps that can broadcast pictures to your smart TV, for a more reasonable price, you probably are already paying for.
App is terrible. Doesn't give many choices to upload from (like Google photos, Samsung photos, Dropbox). You cant rearrange order of photos once uploaded. Video uploads are hit and miss. Once photos are uploaded you can no longer edit. The Samsung TV share is a pipe-dream since Samsung says there are no apps from Nixplay to download. Many, many issues and since I paid for the Plus program to have access to these features, it would be expected that the app would deliver.
Really disappointed by the bait-and-switch on features. The frame works fine once set up, but the app is clunky and confusing. When I bought it, there was no sign that core features like Google Photos and shared playlists would require a paid subscription. Now the only way to access them is through a premium plan — no grandfathering, no warning. Feels misleading.
I can't get frame to show uploaded pics. The app shows I've created an album and it's synced with the frame. Their help desk is inop. I'll add photo to support this claim. This digital frame is a $30 paperweight now because I didn't keep the packaging. Don't buy this brand. ETA: No option to show my pic of their web page that states support desk is unavailable.
Change to subscription makes frames almost unusable. I can't do one drive from the app so I can't auto compress images from my phone. 3mb under images are hard to do. Web interface says all my images are too big. This push to subscription and horrible app and web interface has made my picture frames unusable. Looking to go to a different company now that values customers. Thankfully I didn't but the 3rd frame I wanted before finding this out.
way too difficult to find images in your phone to upload. it should have an option to go to the photos app and upload from there. there is no way to look for years, months, or anything. if you want to upload an specific photo from years ago, you have to find it without any help, and look the whole package of thousand of your photos on your phone. that is completely non sense.
I bought 7 Nixplay frames over the years for my family. I'll never buy another. Nixplay costs a lot more, but came with plenty of free storage. Suddenly, in a bait-and-switch scam, they are charging annual subscriptions for what was INCLUDED in the price. Called it an "update". My frames are located at 4 different homes, so I'd need 4 subscriptions. If you don't pay, your device becomes basically useless. They'll probably raise the price every year. I just don't trust them anymore.
App used to work great. Now it will not support Amazon photo memories or Facebook uploads. Lots of glitches. You will painstakingly choose to upload a max of 10 photos at once (or it won't load them at all) and then when you go to send them, the photos aren't the ones you just chose... They're the photos from the last time you uploaded so you have to start all over again. This has been going on for MONTHS!!!!
Nickel and Dime for everything. when I purchased this frame I had at least 1GB of storage only to find out a few years later they now cut my storage space in half and I now have to pay a subscription fee to add any photos. Also, if more than 1 person wants to be able to add photos that is another fee. DO NOT BUY! there are so many better frames out there for the same price or cheaper
Don't buy this frame. It was a great idea with ample storage, until it wasn't. Terms of use changed to where to have a decent amount of storage on a $200 frame, it is now required to have a yearly subscription, which will only increase as time goes on. If there was a desire to start charging for storage, at least previous owners should have been grandfathered to the terms when purchased. New buyers would then be aware of whether they wanted to commit to a yearly subscription. Not worth it.
Introduced a subscription onto an already expensive product. They jumped the prices almost double after this previous black Friday, and now they're releasing a subscription model to their app with a message of "yeah, to keep our profits going up we need to find some way of charging you more money for a product you already own." I wish I were joking. I've bought several of these frames for family since our child was born, but we no longer recommend them. We will find a new frame.
I purchased this as a Christmas gift because the price was a little less than the Aura. My wife wanted a digital frame just for our 1st grandbaby. At the time it worked great and we were able to load photos. Today the app is basically dead. Nothing works, nothing opens. Not even the sale ad opens when tapped. This frame was much to expensive to not use. After reading other recent reviews I am hoping for a class action lawsuit or something. The Aura has everything this frame should have for free.
I can't recommend this product anymore. The frame integration was good, but now that the company is moving to a subscription model it is really not cost effective. Features like providing the ability to directly print photos (targeted for parents and grandparents) are diminished with this new model as you won't be uploading high resolution photos anymore, that doesn't make sense for a 1k/2k display. Who wants to print a low resolution photo? Save your money.
-Update: so, not only does the app suck but now you want to charge us for storage too?! the only reason why we purchased this product was because of the unlimited photo storage. if you were planning to make the change, you should have been transparent from the holidays when many of us purchased these. I hope enough people do a credit charge back on your useless products. -----Original: App crashes every time I try to access the frame settings. I can only access the settings on the frame itself.
I originally bought the product and enjoyed it for some time. Now, they are migrating to a forced pay structure. There is no sense in paying an annual fee or monthly fee when you can get a nearly identical product (without the shift to a pay to play platform). In the end- this company has now elected to drain consumers with a photo gallery platform that is mediocre (placating that it is under the guise of an enhanced security platform).
These frames used to be cool. But they've continued to limit the amount of photo storage or ease of uploading photos while adding subscription fees to continue to use the frame. It is now mostly useless unless you pay a subscription fee, which makes no sense since you could just get a Google Tablet and pay no subscription fee to accomplish the same goal with more functionality.
My parents friends got them a frame that uses this, and then when my parents left for a year long trip on the other side of the world they got us one so we could share pictures with each other. I really wish they had gotten any other frame besides this one. This app is easily the worst photo management app I have ever dealt with. It's slow, buggy, and is constantly trying to push you into their premium plan in really intrusive ways. If you have a choice, do not use this.
I have been using Nixplay frames for years and bought some for my family. They cost a lot more, but a huge selling point was they came with a lot of cloud storage to manage your pictures. Now they suddenly decided to cut that storage 90% to less than 1 GB. What a joke! Cloud storage is cheap these days. Companies are giving it away left and right. This is just a blatant money grab for something we already paid for. I no longer recommend Nixplay and regret ever buying them.
Customer Service was great. I had a hard time figuring out how to add the images from the album to the frame. After creating 2 albums, and still unclear on how to add it to the frame, I emailed nixplay, and Joe responded within 24 hours, giving the information needed to finally get those pics into the frame. I would've given a 5 star. However, I do feel trying to navigate and figure out the app can be improved. Maybe use pop up instructions.
I love the Iris frame. The app worked seamlessly; and I was able to set my frame up in minutes. I wish we could rearrange the photos in the app. I could not figure out how to log in on the website to rearrange photos. It was only after I saw a video and happened to see the URL in the background. I tried that and still no luck finding a login link tab or anything. YOU MUST USE THE DESKTOP VERSION FOR CHROME to see the login. From there you can rearrange your photos. App should let us rearrange!
