why would you do this to yourself? How would you think that putting a massive ad in the app drawer would be a good idea? On top of that, I had the paid version, and now it's suddenly missing. y'all destroyed your reputation, and made tons of people who have used your apps for years uninstall. I can't even remember how long I've been using Nova launcher. I'm fairly certain since I've had a smart phone. Good luck coming back from this. Enjoy the short burst of ad revenue while your app dies.
They added ads to app drawer. I have used this for a decade. I understand they may need more money, but I can't have ads on my phone itself. I get enough within the apps I used. Gonna have to find something else. I might be willing to pay for the prime version if it's a one time fee, but I've heard that they still get ads...
Sad Since the latest update I've had nothing but problems. My screen freezes at least twice a day, my apps freeze, I have to restart the phone to try to solve it (which doesn't really help). I loved this launcher and have had the Prime version for years! Now I think I'm going to have to look for another one as it's failing me. 😥 New review Aug 2024 They finally updated it! It works again but sadly it STILL freezes! I really hoped they'd have sorted this issue by now! Come on guys!
It was great! Until the ads came! Listen, app development requires money. I get it. But when I download a great program that says "no apps", use it for months, love it, then have ads shadow dropped that make app-scrolling impossible? Unacceptable. Not even a pop-up that says "hey, thanks for your support but we have to put ads here. You can purchase our premium version to remove ads." Get Smart Launcher instead. Best ad this app ever did lol
I've been using Nova Launcher for many years and got notice today that there will be ads, but I'm generally willing to pay for things I like. But, then I saw that the Privacy Policy had been updated. I don't know when they started handing over (selling?) our data, but that's a big nope. And there's no guarantee that paying means no tracking. They also don't require a court order to give your data to law enforcement if they "believe" you've broken a law or violated their Terms of Service. ☹️
i never write reviews but i've used this as my launcher for ages, and have paid towards it. there are now very invasive ads. unavoidable, in the UI! they auto play, too, so if you're listening to music, you'll get a nice loud earful of an advertisement if you click on your app drawer! very cool. :) less complained about: but everyone should also be aware of all of the new & undisclosed trackers. there's no reason to use this anymore, listen to the rest of the reviews mentioning ads. bye! 👋
After getting invasive ads in the app drawer, like every three rows, I went to the app store to see if I could pay for a premium version. Nope. So after years of using this launcher and having everything just like I want it, it's time to uninstall it because this is definitely a No Va for me. 1 star may not seem fair after all these years of great experience, but this will cost me a lot of time and frustration to reconcile. Adios, NoVa...
The best app for an Android and I paid for it many many years ago and it's the first thing I install when I change phones. Sadly, some bug happened. Ads started showing up on my screen. I contacted the app team, backed up, uninstalled and reinstalled again. It was fine for a few days then add are back again. It's really annoying. Please fix it guys.
I used Nova Launcher for years but I had to drop the app for my home & app screens. A couple of weeks ago, they decided to add a "premium" version. I decided not to pay for something I used for years for free, and then my apps screen started having ads with sound taking up the 2nd & 3rd rows on the main page. I dealt with that at first, but then there were random gaps in the app list; empty spaces the size of on app icon. Most of the pages had 3 or more of these empty spaces.

Been using Nova Launcher for years, but I just noticed adds we inserted into my app drawer. Not just adds video adds the most agregious kind. They have the gall to waste my cellular data on video ads, and the want a subscription to remove them. I would consider a one time payment, but I'm not doing a subscription. Enshitification has come to Nova Launcher. I'm moving on to another Launcher.
I used nova launcher for over 10 years. when they added ads, I was a little disgruntled, but it wasn't too intrusive, until today... they've now added suggested apps in my app tray, all of which are things that I'm not even slightly interested in as well as the ad widget in the app tray now playing sound every time I open the app tray. today is the end of my use.
This was a 5 star app before they added ads. don't waste your time, they got greedy. Instead of adding features to increase the value and ask for a subscription to unlock them, they want either to bombard you with ads all day to continue using what used to be free or pay a subscription price. I deleted it and I'm back to Google's default launcher now. It's just another useless ad packed subscription app now, and another example of shrinkflation in action.
I have been using NL for a year. It was great. Until... There are now ads in the launcher and they are intrusive and take up over half the screen when you scoll to your apps. What a disaster and the new reviews and ratings show it. I will change this rating if the ads disappear and they stop selling our data (see the new Privacy Policy). Talk about a cash grab.
I get it, the money to support a free app has to come from somewhere, but adding ads to a previously ad-free service? Not okay. I've been using this launcher for a while and have enjoyed it, but I think it's time to find a new one that isn't putting ads directly on my phone. There are ads right at the top of the app drawer! That's not okay. Maybe the slew of 1- and 2-star reviews complaining about the ads will make them change their tune. The people are speaking, hopefully someone's listening.
*Smart Launcher ftw!* I have loved and recommend this app for over a decade, and I swear I remember paying quite an amount (for 2012) to unlock a ton of stuff, one of which I thought was no ads. I no longer recommend this app and will be looking for an alternative. What a careless way to shoot yourself in the foot. Officially uninstalled and never coming back. Way to burn down your investment.
Like everyone else stated, out of nowhere Nova decides they want to introduce ads to their app. Now, if you want this launcher, you must bombard yourself with shelf table ads that block the top of your app drawer with random ads. Not only that, they make it as difficult as possible to buy their "premium" version without ads. It sucks cause ive used Nova for atleast 6 years now and they decide to enshittify themselves. Guess its time to find their replacement.
I understand they had to release the version with ads to pay for things. I can always wrap my head around that idea. what I don't understand is why the ads have to also include icons within the system drawer alongside all of my other app icons, with V LITTLE distinction. complete disregard for how many of us have positioning memorized for apps and no way to dismiss these little disguised ads. ridiculous. there is already a banner. the second I have time to find a suitable replacement, I'm gone.
Went from 5 stars to 1 or 0. Banner ad in apps drawer AND ads as icons amongst your installed apps. Huge line crossed with this I feel. Not only is about a third of my screen an ad, but I didn't enjoy the feeling of seeing random icons throughout my apps. I thought I had accidentally installed something at first before realizing that it was a freaking ad as an icon. I think I counted 8 of them. Uninstalling.

The new owners are destroying what was once the best launcher available on Android! I haven't experienced the ads yet, probably because thus far I've been grandfathered into the new premiums tier by my prior purchase. But…first I couldn't access the dock's transparency configuration, and now widgets aren't sizing properly on the home screen, both occurring over the past two updates within 1 month. I used this for over 5 years, so I got a good run; it will be missed!
Ive been using Nova for almost 10 years or more at this point, but when I open my app drawer and theres an Ad in my app drawer, that wasnt there before and you want me to pay to remove it? And the people that paid say theres still ads. Yea im done. It was good until it wasnt. There are plenty of free launchers out there with good features to go to.
