It's okay but could be better. Sometimes the app loads on my androidauto, sometimes it doesn't; this seems to happen most often when I'm out of cell service areas. If you download the offline maps it still struggles to navigate you with the route so be prepared to just turn your screen to "always on" and follow best you can. The satellite imagery could be better to see the trail details. Login issues where sometimes I just get server error and it works when it wants to. Don't buy a full price.
Offline maps have been a nightmare. I subscribed about a year ago. At the time, with a low res map, you could select map sizes that were almost half an entire state (I wish I could download without satellite, but that's another issue). The problem was, the app would crash downloading larger maps. Instead of fixing that, they reduced the map size. It takes 12 maps to download my state. Fix the real problem and bring back big offline maps or I'm not renewing.
All self built routes default to shortest distance. This can be worked around only by dropping multiple points along the same road. Sounds simple except it does not always work. It also results in the GPS announcing a right or left turn at each dropped point: Annoying dangerous especially in unfamiliar territory. I hope I can find a better choice for adventure riding.
It's annoying to use with Android Auto. It has an option to lock the map orientation to North up instead of rotating to driving perspective. Which I really like as it helps to keep me oriented in case I ever lose map service. However, the map doesn't center on the positional caret in this mode. It's in the lower quadrant. If you're heading north, you can see lots of roads ahead. But heading south, you see almost nothing. It's a very sloppy implementation.
I love it for exploring, figuring out where to go, looking at property lines etc. Besides that the app is clunky, has too much going on. Can't use it for navigation, when you zoom in or look at the map while navigating it changes the view settings, will NOT stay in North Up. Its absolutely annoying. I couldn't use the elite account I paid for, for 8 months (it didn't recognize my account on a different phone) after a month of emailing them they fixed it but didn't reimburse me in any way.
Seems to have lots to work with! Some trails don't exist that are on All trails. I use Backcountry, decided to give this a try for off-road. I love all the trail reports and facts to read up on before heading out. Super big complaint, the navigation feature is horrible! Each time I switch to my camera the darn thing would lose me and I could never get back. Would always need to restart the navigation. Lastly the turn by turn navigation voice is way too low and doesn't function over Bluetooth.
Notifications regularly re-enable themselves. That's unacceptable, and a major reason for my rating. It's not the only one though. That aside, the app is _fine_, and gathers data from multiple sources. It's just not specialized enough to ever pay for, given you can get the same data on maps for cheaper or free from elsewhere. And given other gps apps are just nicer to use, this app doesn't bring anything special to the table to justify it's price.
It's worth it for all the information it has about the trails, and the quality of the maps is great, but the app is absolutely terrible. Crashes constantly, tons of bugs, and when used with Android auto there's no way to get your route to show up on the cars screen, which makes you still have to have your phone out to see the route, utterly defeating the purpose of having Android auto integration. Using an S22+ and Android auto on a '23 4runner.
Little to no information about trails. Some trails are mislabeled or are completely incorrect. See no value in upgrading at such a high cost. Maybe if it was a one time charge but a subscription... Just not worth it. Especially when they have very few trails listed in my area and the expect their subscribers to build their map database WHILE PAYING FOR IT. The concept of this app is good which is why I give it 2 stars.
The app is actually extremely good. I absolutely loved using it in Moab and it really is essential. There's just one major issue that kept me from giving it 5 stars. The app is SUPER power hungry, it drains the battery on my phone fast and I have to plug it in every few hours of using it. It also makes my phone run extremely hot. I have rebooted my phone, made sure no background apps are simultaneously running, but it still makes my phone get real hot. The app needs more efficient programming.
Update: they did add the option to update and add content directly from users. That's a huge improvement. Now what I would really like to see as an adventure rider, which seems like a huge market they are neglecting, would be the ability to include regular map things like restaurants/hotels/etc. We can't always take every single trail so instead of having to use 2 apps to navigate it would be nice if it were all in one so you can link trails to local spots to roads and back to trails.
The app itself is good. It does several things I like. Where I think it fails to deliver, it's on the Android Auto. Opening the app on Android Auto, I would have expected to have the same view as in Go & Track on the app. Instead you just get the map view. The trail colors didn't show up on Android Auto for me. Instead what I got was main trail colored in blue, which was different from the app because I was traveling on a "green" trail. Consistency in the functionality would be nice.
Solid app. I use this while going out on trail rides with my dirt bikes every time. Only thing lacking that I have found so far is that it doesn't record a top speed or avg speed on your run. That would be super helpful to know. I need to use a second app just for that. Also, It would be even more helpful to free scroll around the mobile map and be able to see general elevations displayed in the ledger, or more accurate elevation with a long press like it does when it pulls up its coordinates.
Great with a few bugs. The "draw route" feature is buggy. It jumps around too much. I think we should be able to toggle it off and on rather than seeing it put lines everywhere when we hover over the route we create. Also, I am severely color blind and I cannot see the road names easily because on X chooses to have the road names in faint see through letters in white.
This app is quirky. I'm only allowed 500 characters, so I'll try to describe it. When using it with Android Auto, it must also be running and displaying on your phone. When storing offline maps, they're really stingy with the space they let you use. The map sizes are so small that it takes me many maps to store a large enough area to be useful. Other than the above, it's a pretty good app. I'll keep using it, hoping they continue to make improvements.
When I've used it, it's been decent. Now, though, it won't even open. When I try and log in through the app, it takes me to a web page and gives me a black page. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I've turned off the browser security and even tried opening in a new browser. If I open the website directly, it works, but isn't formatted for a phone so really, it's still broken.
UPDATE: Their customer service is great! They were really friendly and got back to me quickly. Unfortunately, I think I've just got a really bad bug and can't get an account started. On the email/password screen, it freezes after I enter everything and then it does nothing. I'll wait until they update the login feature and try again at that point.
Very disappointed. The way the maps work is almost exactly the worst design I could think of. Trail names aren't visible until zoomed in to an extreme where you can't see far enough to plan your route. Municipality names not visible at all at any zoom level. Cumbersome to drop pins and create a route. The feature to track where you have been works nice, but that's useful for where you've been... not where you want to go.
It's not a bad app. They make the process to cancel confusing, and I don't like that it signs you up for auto renewal when you purchase a subscription. Luckily, customer support was able to help me cancel the auto renewal. The app itself is user-friendly. The free version isn't very helpful. The paid version is good. Just make sure you download offline maps ahead of time. It is glitchy at best when run on Android Auto. I usually have to run it on my phone to get it to work properly.
I only went on one route, so my experience is limited. Part of the route was what I expected, gravelly, up and down hills. Then it went into an overgrown area I could barely get through. I was riding a bicycle which made things worse. The app needs to indicate the modes of transportation that are appropriate. Also, part of the route was over an area "Private, do not enter".
