Been using the app for months to plan and follow hikes. I still carry a paper map around in case of emergencies, but I haven't used it since installing the app. The app is just so much more convenient. One feature I would like to see is the ability to add nodes/waypoints anywhere on a route, rather than just at the end. I'm surprised to see so many people having performance issues with the app. For me it starts up instantly, has never crashed and doesn't excessively drain my battery (Pixel 5).

Authentication broken Straight away I immediately had a problem that the standard Android "suggest password" box didn't come up when registering in-app. I got around this by registering online, but I am unable to log in to my account as it seems they have deliberately blocked the password manager integration within the app as every other app works fine. I spent nearly an hour trying to get around this, but in the end I gave up.

Bought a map for a walking tour in England and received a code to download the map to this app. This is great! No more messing about with a map case and refolding the map! I wish I'd had this on previous walks. Just keep an eye on your battery, especially if you are recording your route. The only improvement I might suggest would be an option to show a compass rose centered on the user.

Used it for almost 20 months with no problems on my computer. While a little clunky I was able to generate walk maps and print them when required. The app has stopped working on my computer - no maps only a box with " your browser does not support Mapbox GL". Will work on my phone but using the larger printer screen computer allows more clarity and the end product can be printed off.

OS maps are the British standard and are a must for any outdoor person using navigation. I have used paper maps for years and it's easy to use the app alongside these with the benefit of GPS (always take a paper map as well though). Dropped a star because the route creating does some very strange things when you let it follow tracks, which should be the intuitive way to use it. Very frustrating. But app is good overall

I love the app but I totally agree with David Board from 3 May 2025. "Just frustrating when updates bring problems. I'm getting automatic activity tracking (even though I have it disabled ), the compass lock to north keeps coming off when I open the app, and fuzzy maps or blank areas even though I have downloaded the area and route for offline. Really disappointing."

Used to be good, with some issues. Becoming awful with added 'features' that detract from the core functionality and get in the way of using the maps. Search is terrible. Going the way of previous mapping apps that I've used. If only lessons were learned about not overstuffing apps and actually trying to use them in real world situations.

A superb app, as one would expect from Ordnance Survey, but it loses a star because it no longer supports screen rotation to view in landscape mode. That is just so frustrating. Update. Lo and behold, it now works in landscape 😊. It's so nice when a developer actually reads and acts on people's comments. Updated to 5 stars.

Just started a trail premium membership and I'm hitting a bug where it says "internet required" when trying to view or download a map. I'm currently in an office with gigabit internet so that's absolutely not an issue, also doesn't work on mobile data. I was hesitant to download after reading about various bugs and this seals the deal, I'll be finding another app and absolutely won't be recommending this rubbish.

Downloaded maps for offline use ahead of time knowing that there was no mobile signal for my planned route. Got to my destination and headed out. Pulled out my phone and started OS Maps to load up the route and it wouldn't work! Presumably because it was busy trying to verify the £35 subscription was paid!!! Useless and incredibly dangerous - if this was my only means of navigation I could have got lost. 1 Star until they get this sorted - recommend not buying until this is fixed!

Impossible to edit saved routes - A step backwards! The map data remains excellent, but the app itself has become an exercise in frustration. Planning a route is fine, but heaven forbid you need to make a change later. What used to be a simple, intuitive process of undoing or shortening a path using undo has been replaced by a complicated ,clunky, much slower method. And why ? So we can report cows in a field ? Terrible .

used to be good but now it keeps having a problem with recording data and route planning etc. I know it's not my internet and there's an error message that keeps popping up but I'm guessing the problem is with the app. I now want to cancel my subscription as I've paid for premium and not able to do anything other than locate myself

The record route isnt working properly. It doesn't resume tracking after being paused or if leave to run rather than pause when I'm stationary, it just stops continuing to record route and distance even if time still going, no issues with gps/positioning on Google map so not sure why it just stops. The maps themselves are good and route planning. I had this app previously and had no issues.

This is still my go to mapping app for UK Outdoor activities. Undisputably the best topographic maps in the UK but the app still lacks navigation basics; One of the most important is "What is the distance and bearing to that place"? The app shows the cursor grid reference and distance (& elevation) how difficult would it be to add the bearing? simple to set you compass to and walk on poor Visibility...it's navigation basics. please add this feature.

I have downgraded this review to 2 stars after finding that it sometimes doesn't end route recording, even when you tell it to. It recorded 317km of driving around my house, to the shops, etc. It took several restarts of the app to get it to stop recording. It also logs me out all the time for no reason

For use in the UK, this app is excellent. However, for use in the US, not so much. The maps are old, and no legend information is available to identify exactly how old, so they are undependable, could be dangerous.

What is this app actually for? Uploaded walks? Anyone can see those as green (now purple) lines on any OS Outdoor Leisure map. What folks want is the OS maps that they've already purchased on their 'phones whilst they're out walking. Most have already purchased the paper maps of interest at least once & many have also paid for Viewranger OS maps that they can no longer use. This app just imposes yet another annual subscription for maps we have already paid for. Down the chute again it goes.

great app that is ruined by maps that refuse to load in, despite paying for premium and having offline maps. not exactly a good look when people are using this for safety and navigation in remote places. Fix this! Or I'll be switching to Alltrails/Gaia/Komoot

I have been using OS Mapping since it's inception. No more, I will look for an alternative. Using the app on my Samsung phone it regularly loses my position, stops recording my walks, and decides I've flown in a straight line 30 miles away. Really really disappointed.

After a full deleted/reinstall I'm happy to say that everything is reliable again. Reinstating 5* status. --- Used to be rock-solid and completely reliable, but recently it's begun failing to update location in real time. Sometimes force closing or locking/unlocking the phone helps it to catch up, but not always.
