I've used the website extension (Mac), and that's been really great in a ton of ways. But boy, the Android app is frustrating and nearly useless, at least how I'm trying to use it. The search function is terrible, and when you do miraculously hit upon the thing you wanted, there's no intuitive way to add it to your droplist/alerts. Browser = rainbows and kittens. Android app = Excel files in Hell. That means Honey is not part of my regular, on-the-go shopping. Fingers crossed things get better.
Inconvenient, takes longer, web browser extension is better. But the app is bad and Inconvenient. It took me 25min to "not" order a sandwich while using honey and one time it doesn't want to check out even after clicking on it, so I tried again I had to create the order AGAIN!! Then after entering all the card information it gave me an error. It was too late by then for me to do this all over again. I left hungry. Thanks to honey. Should have kept my sanity and ordered from the app instead.
Weird that i can't checkout with PayPal from this app. And after multiple attempts i have been blocked from the site. What a waste of time. Update: still a huge timesuck. Tried it again at another store, could not get the cart to load. 😕 2nd update, after contacting them, I'm still unable to checkout with PayPal. App is hard to navigate as well as shop in, and checkout is always a hassle. 3rd update: cash back does not always calculate, even if you can get the app to let you checkout. Useless.
Chrome extension offered me a $5 gift card which resulted in me buying an $80 gift card I didn't want. Process was unclear and hard to understand. Didn't realize what had happened until I went to use the card code. Customer service has so far been unresponsive. Can't order the products I wanted until the situation is handled. So on top off negatively impacting me financially, my Christmas shopping has been delayed as well. Will be uninstalling everywhere unless is resolved soon.
I barely get points. I click the extension and use Paypal for checkout. I did this for most of my Christmas purchases this year, received 0 points. Most of the transactions never posted, the one that did post, says pending still with 0 pts. Most of the sites dont have up to date coupons or the coupons can easily be found just by a quick google search. Don't waste your time or your computer's resources.
Got an email from PayPal stating $5 towards my first purchase when I installed and used the honey app. Followed the link, downloaded the app, made a purchase from a participating retailer and never got the 5 dollar credit. The app stated I would earn points for the purchase which was more than 100 dollars. Checked back several times to see "points pending" each time. I actually forgot about it until I saw the app icon today. Guess what? Point total is zero... uninstalling now. Waste of time.
I had some problems with the app with not getting cashback rewards, and then the rewards that I had already accrued became locked, and I'm unable to redeem them. I tried emailing, and was completely ignored. So I tried their live chat, and was promptly greeted and then ignored by four separate agents. If you "banned" me for some reason, I'd sure like to know it, because I've done nothing wrong. And if this is your customer service, you need to do WAY better. Btw, you've been reported to the BBB.
As of late, Honey has emailed me of price drops from my drop list, that are at best inaccurate. Or in other cases, did not exist. I have emailed them multiple times on these issues, and have not receive a single response back! To my experience, it is becoming a waste of time to even expect accuracy in monitoring of pricings here! Update: This notation is what apparently got a response. I have sent Honey the info requested, and we'll see what comes of it? Update: It's been four days? Nothing back
The sneakiest scam ever so far. Don't bother using this app, go back to the old fashion way joining discount group. This app has been tricking people making them think they have been getting the best deals when really it was just what the store payed honey to say what deals were the best ones, like if there was a $20 off coupon code out there but the store payed honey to lie and say that $5 off was the best deal. The app is a whole lie, it was sneaky. Even claims refferal sales, what a joke...
Notifications no longer work, which makes the app useless. The UI is poorly done and I wish it would be better. Top 3 issues: 1. Show an obvious indicator on things that have a price drop; right now you can't tell when something is on sale in the list. 2. Add pull to refresh. I added an item to my drop list on browser and I had to restart the app to see it. 3. Fix headers on the drop list screen - it's difficult to tell which custom list they belong to.
Fraudulent. Steals money from the referral influencers who helped them grow by adding their code over the top if you click a button to close a pop up. It does not always find you the best deal either, I've found better deals 3 times myself using the app when its told me I have the best deal already. There is no reason to use them. Please steer clear! If this was done in retail, it would be fraud.
The app does not offer any functionality that I couldn't get from a quick Google search. Of the 8 codes they had listed for one store, only one was still valid. The others either didn't exist, were expired, or not valid for my items. Unfortunately there's no way to easily report codes so it's left for others to waste their time on. There's also no description of the codes. A simple report function would be great. Better yet the ability to comment on individual codes but I get that's hard to do.
This app presents a wonderful idea, but fails to deliver. I used to regularly find discounts on this app, but it hasn't delivered one in a couple years. You do accumulate gold for points, but my last several transactions with companies for which I always receive gold have gone undetected. I have emailed five times, tried their touted live chat feature, and they simply do not respond. Do not download this app. Try for something more reputable.
No matter what, I'm never able to log in on the app - there's always an unexpected error. I had forgotten why I deleted this app a while back and decided to try it again, but I guess I'll delete it once more. The honey web browser extension is at least still good.
HONEY IS A SCAM. I've been using this app and extension for about 5 years, and still, to this date, I have not seen any rewards, discounts, or absolutely any perks from Honey. It's always in the background, and it pops up every time I try to make a purchase, but it fails to find any coupons or in the rare occasion that it does, the discounts are insignificant. I'm able to find better discount codes on my own by just browsing online. Uses predatory practices and steals money from its affiliates
I like the idea of Honey, but the usability is not very good. When saving items to your droplist, they save as separate items for each color/version of the item. So you can quickly have a bunch of items in your droplist when you've really only added a handful. Then when reviewing the droplist within the app, I can only see the first 52 of those items unless I put a category on everything which is tedious also as it can only be done per item version instead of in bulk.
Awful app. Do not use. Rakuten and Befrugal are way better apps. It takes up to 3 months to see your payouts. App is hard to use. They advertise cash back but then when you email them multiple times about it, they give you the run around, only to tell you they can't give it to you because another rewards program was activated. The other rewards program doesn't even have that store in their program, so how does that makes sense. Honey will not honor what they advertised. STAY AWAY!
Even worse than Capitol One shopping, doesn't even recognize either of the Google based browsers installed on my phone by default. I suggest you don't fall for the "we can save you money" scam Save your phone storage and memory, shop how you want, and save your own way. All these apps supposedly designed to "save you money", are really designed to track your shopping habits. PERIOD!
I've tried to stick with this app and maybe I don't know what I'm doing but everytime I am buying something there never ever is a coupon or promo code for anythng I've ever purchased and I'm a bit of a shop-aholic so discounts are inportant to me. I've installed and then uninstalled (with much frustration)more times than I care to count.
This company currently has dozens of class action lawsuits against them. They are known to NOT use the best coupon codes, as well as overwrite other creators’ affiliate links, redirect commissions to themselves instead of affiliates, and worst of all, is a data-collection tool. Be aware that by downloading this app, you are handing ALL your browsing data to this company for free.
