The concept of the app is great. However, the chat feature is annoying because if you click out of the chat/app a message you started disappears. So if you're a mom with a toddler and you've been writing a message, and your toddler comes up and swipes your phone, you can lose everything you've been typing. You also can't start a message and then come back to it later, something that's frustrating when you're trying to grab quick moments here and there as a busy mom.
A great way to connect with other moms who "get it" but can be a mixed bag. Just like online dating you get your flaking and ghosting and also it's just hard to make it work even everyone has kids to juggle! Still it's been nice and a little less lonely since I started using the app. Also, as many of the other reviews have mentioned, the geolocation is inconsistent/can be inaccurate.
This app is great in theory, but its UI makes it difficult. There's no way to filter people by their interests, so you're looking through literally everyone within a certain distance of you. It'll auto-add you to groups you didn't want to join and then hide the button to let you leave. I'm still skeeved out by the icon for kids being underwear. But most importantly, I've waved at people and gotten notifications that other people have waved at me, but I still have no idea how to actually connect.
The update you've done to the see waves/peanut plus is annoying. Every so often I would have paid a tiny amount to see waves for 24 hours or MAYBE a week for a one time payment. You've removed the 24 hour option and have changed everything to a subscription model. Which means if you didn't read the fine print you will suddenly be charged $3.99 every week. I would possibly have still considered paying to see waves if you weren't trying to force the subscription model on all of the options.
I was great when you didn't have to pay to see people who want to connect (wave). It's really strange to me that they would put the main functionality of the app behind a pay wall instead of extras like the PODS. Or even just put in ads somewhere. I'm not paying $20-$30 a month just to verify that someone wants to talk to me. You even have to pay to wave back!
So far, I have really enjoyed this App! I was hesitant at first, but I have been able to talk and connect with so many nice people! Such a great idea to give moms an opportunity to seek new friends and to get support about things that aren't always talked about, like pelvic floor issues after pregnancy! Could use a few improvements in my opinion. The search radius doesn't really update, and it's pretty pricey to see someone wave at you. Overall, it's a great App though!
I think the whole point of this app is making connections with potential friends. However, you can't view who waved at you unless you invite friends. I'm not a Facebook user, so that's difficult for me. I'd even be willing to wait and view a wave every couple days or something, an incentive for consistently using the app. But because I can't view the waves, I deleted the app. The concept is neat, and I like the app itself, but I hope that part changes soon. Then I might be back.
Reeeaally annoying how you can't clear waves without paying. It's not even that I want to see who waved at me (it's pretty easy to figure out from the blurry pictures), but I want the option to get rid of the waves I'm not going to make connections with! And tbh I thought about paying for the plus subscription, since I have Google Play money to use up, but there just aren't enough features to make it worth it.
It has a lot of potential. It's hard for me to find people because it dont have my location correct. I try the filters to adjust the search distance and it still shows people over 45 miles away. Then when someone does show up who is actually from my town it shows as 345 miles away!!! That makes no sense. Even using the near me now feature doesn't help. It does the same thing.
1 ) $20/month to see who waved at you is very expensive. 2 ) The pod groups were a nice place to speak with people but those are gone now. 3 ) Small privacy complaint: you have to put your birthday on your profile and it says "only you see this" but then it still sends out a notification to other people when it's your birthday. I did not like that and there was no way to opt out.
The app itself lacks a lot of features that would make it more useful. You can't seem to configure the feed to only show you groups you're interested in and/or to allow you to block others, so it regularly shows posts that aren't as relevant because they're from other countries or people in other "month groups" who are not at the same point in the process. I don't know what the point of "joining" groups is when the app is just going to randomly show me other groups in my feed.
I wasn't sure about an app like this to be honest - could I really find mom friends through a Tinder-like app? It was super easy to use and I matched with local people super quickly. You both have to "wave" to be matched, so it avoids awkwardness of matching with someone you don't think you'll vibe with. It's super easy to use the chat feature and to swipe through all the profiles. I love that you can swipe to hide profiles temporarily - sometimes I go through looking for people from just my town but later I want to find people a little farther away. I've only been on it for a month or two, and I've already developed a handful of friendships!
I really don't appreciate how I have turned off ALL push notifications, and yet I still receive one every 30 minutes throughout my day. Literally every 30 minutes. I've checked my settings to make sure I'm not missing anything, and they're all turned off.... I do like using the app as it's intended, but being bombarded by it all day isn't worth keeping it installed.
Too many notifications. This app use to be pretty decent. Then they added a bunch of groups, pods, live streams, and similar, and its constantly sending notifications for them. Hourly notifications. Yes I've tried turning them off but you can't turn those off without turning all notifications off (and getting a notification you received a direct message is helpful).
It's like 2 apps in 1. The first gives resources around parenting, conception, etc. I didn't use this part much, but I got lots of notifications for it. I wish there was a way to specify which type of notifications the app sends. The second is a dating app but for friends. I thought other users would be more engaged in this portion, but they were not. It seems like most users only open the app occasionally and/or aren't on it for the friend making portion.
Can't see waves and they cost like 3.99 PER WEEEEEEK and you gotta subscribe. This will take forever to pick up with those prices... I barely use it because of this. Also shows me people that are too far away. If I click on someone's profile and then click wave it goes to another person so then I can't even message them since they probably won't see my wave anyway.- That's an old review. Now it's more expensive, and more difficult and locations are so off. Lost potential. Very sad.
I loved the app untill they changed the pod setting. It was so easy to connect with people with similar interests before but now if you don't belong to specific groups (that can be a hassle and send you so many notifications) then you do not get to partake in the pods. So sad because this was a great app to use to at least have adult conversations as a momma now we have lost that. 😞🤔
It was fine at first, I didnt pay for the full version because I'm not crazy (who the h-ll would pay $20 a month just to be able to see who waved at you?) But then after a week I couldn't even wave back at anyone because when I pressed the wave back button and ad for the full version would pop up and it wouldn't let me wave at them! It was completely useless after that. I did enjoy the mom boards though.
So far I really enjoy the app. It has a lot more than just meeting new people -live discussions, live chats, groups, advice from experts. A major flaw to me is having to pay to see who is trying to connect. I understand only disclosing is when a match is made to ensure compatibility, but I think it's trying to hard to be like Tinder. Also I noticed it shows people way out of my location range. If it would fix those 2 things to me it would be great
Originally joined this app on and off in 2021. I enjoyed it back then. Now that I'm looking for friends again, I re-download it and found it was all "pay to play" stuff. Very disappointing. Can't see matches unless you pay. How are you supposed to make friends if you can't see your matches?! The app has lost its point. I'm not paying $30/month to get all the features unlocked. Waste of time.
