It is hit or miss as to whether it will download. I like the Sunday paper and I get it maybe twice a month only. I clear my cache and still makes no difference. Why am I paying for a sub standard subscription. I never know if I will get to see the news. It's frustrating at best. I have Uninstaller and reinstalled but it helps only sometime. Calling the paper was a waste of time. Customer service said to clear my browser. I don't need to do that for any other app. Time to cancel.

I like that it has the "feel" of reading a real paper. A window keeps popping up asking if I want to download the latest edition, even though the edition I'm reading is "Final". The links at the bottom of a column to "turn the page" to continue the article take you to the wrong page. Many times there are words missing at the bottom of a column in an article.

The app takes forever to load the fonts. FOREVER. Sometimes I lose interest and close it down, frustrated. Also, there are rarely any headlines in the email reminders, so instead of catching my attention, it looks like spam that I want to delete. Big yawn. The app looks like a newspaper, which is fine for a newspaper, but not for reading on my phone. I switched to this because I wanted a more local news vibe instead of cable political news 24/7, but this is awful. Please make it better.

I like the stories and basic format, but the latest update is a mess. Only a few stories load, the downloaded zip files containing the content now crowd my recent file list in the Android My Files app, but worst of all, the app opens automatically the first time I turn on my phone in the morning, and the is no option to turn that behavior off. That is incredibly intrusive and the biggest reason I'm now uninstalling the app.

Slow to load. Often loads the wrong edition and it can take several tries to get the current edition of the paper. It often does not load graphics unless you do a page refresh for every page.

clicking a push notification link for an article that you want to read does not take you to the article. That's a major flaw. Also the share button is inadequate as it doesn't even link my text messaging program in there to send items to people. the interface generally is pretty good but can be a bit laggy at times and sometimes I find the app opening without actually opening it, it appears it's updating the articles

Worst app I ever used: 1) It automatically loads the latest edition but usually does not load the Obituraries or other large photos. 2) Sometimes, it refreshes the photos automatically, but rarely. 3) There's no refresh button. 4) It keeps asking you if you want to download the latest edition even after it automatically downloaded it. 5) The next time you start the app on an Android, it freezes up & the screen goes black. You have to swipe up to close from the Open App button to use it again.

The app in newspaper format will not rotate to horizontal. It's hard to read on a cell phone vertically when you have to keep moving the page left to right after you've enlarged the page to a decent size type. Tried other devices as well. On a tablet I have it goes horizontal but won't rotate vertical. This needs fixed to make it more accessible. The old app worked better.

Confusing layout, unnecessary push notifications that lead to stories completely unrelated to the push (when you click on the notification it takes you to the main navigation bar, which often hasn't updated with the news in the push notification). Extremely poorly designed. Remarkably disappointing considering that the PG is marketing this as a replacement to its print product.

Too many ads. When an ad comes up the screen freezes and you can't do anything else for quite a while. How about a skip ad in 5 seconds like YouTube? I make a game out of remembering the advertisers so l never buy anything from them. This app is HORRIBLE!!!!

This app is cumbersome and unnecessary. The previous way of reading the printed online edition was much better. Also, cannot access using Kindle fire. I cancelled my subscription because of this which is sad because I loved the content of the paper.

This app is junk. After the last update, I have to load the app, then close the app, then open it again to get the news. If my screen times out, I sometimes need to reload the app (twice) to get it back. Nobody cares about how this works or it would have been fixed by now! This is what happens when you are the only game in town! Take some pride in your product, Post-Gazette!!

Finding out that I needed the updated 'white background' for PGe was a revelation in itself. I tried to read my PGe with the 'black background' and couldn't login because of user ID and password not accepted. .... Finding that I needed white background and installing, I only received half of the feed of no Section C and no pics in D of the Sports... E mails to P.G. and talks with Provider no fixes. Then, the last 2 days all was good, faster load and feed complete. To my chagrin , problem back !

I do like that entire story is on one"slide" whereas with newspaper, I have to flip to the continued story page. sometimes the app freezes. no puzzles obituaries are only one at a time I read both print and newslide.

Terrible. Navigation unpredictable. Stalls whenever an ad appears. No tab for local news. Like all other PG digital platforms - not very good. Disappointed. PG is a great newspaper and should do better with digital media. Update: still awful - but fight through it - we need local journalism.

Even though I have subscribed for years I keep getting asked to login . Not a problem right? But then it takes you to a screen without a place to login. Will not let you back out you kave to close the whole file.

I basically like it but did have a problem. I kept getting warnings that my android phone was tunning out of storage. NewsSlide stopped workind so I uninstalled/reinstalled it. I gained over 5 Gb of storage; not 5 MB, 5 Gb! I now uninstall/reinstall NewsSlide every month to get back about 600 MB of storage.

Certain dats the entire paper does not load. On other days, certain articles do not load. Sometimes when you are reading an article and attempt to slide it up to read more, ut collaspes.

Pittiful This has to be the worst news app I have ever used. I use the NYT, WP, CNN, BBC, the Guardian US, Yahoo news, and more. Noone else is so slow, or locks up more! If it were possible to give it negative stars, I would!!

News lite, and more than 50% is sports. Paper's rightward tilt also sucks but that's not the apps fault. just downloaded the update and now the paper doesn't load at all!! 2.1.19
