Been using this app and the hub for many years and it gets worse as time goes on. I have about a dozen lights in different room. The automation is lousy. Many times the lights don't turn off, don't dim or even won't turn on. I live in AZ where we don't do daylight savings and it always throws this app for a loops when time daylight savings adjusts in March & October. 2 stars for not performing the basic tasks. Unfortunately, Smarthings app is no better. 2026 and still struggling with these apps

I love the lights and app. I have 3 bulbs and there are so many wonderful color schemes to choose from. Occasionally there is an issue with the lights connecting, but a force stop and restart fixes it. There aren't any ads besides those related to the bulbs, and they don't ever interrupt the operation of the app. I've been using the app for years and haven't had any major issues that make me reconsider my choice to use Philips Hue.

9 years later and I'm back to this software. I bought the new, updated, Hub. The features are more in line with what I expect from smart home lighting. I still have a lot to explore (I have to figure out why some lights will automatically adjust color to the time of day and others won't) and that's why only 4 stars. Expect an updated review in a couple of months.

Works pretty nice, has some cool features. I'm glad non-hub Bluetooth connections continue to be supported. My only complaint is the Routines menu. The button to edit a routine is super huge, but the button to activate it is tiny and it should be the opposite shouldn't it? I always misclick and open the routine edit menu when I don't mean to.

Poor variety of features, they're are better features on 3rd party apps. So frustrating when you have the best products be totally limited by their software, and it seems like they segregate some features to upsell other products. Unless you feel you need the richest colors possible, you're probably better off buying another cheaper brand, and those might be just as good. Truly disappointing.

Its awesome, most of the time. The hue lights are excellent. The ability to control them with the phone, their longevity, all the cool programs, the automation, the light range and dimmability. All of that is awesome. The app, is not awesome. Its acceptable. When it works it works great,. When it doesn't work, you'll spend 20 minutes trying to get it to connect to the bridge, after which you'll be inclined to assess your life choices for buying fancy Bluetooth bulbs.

Worked great for a while, but as of this past update, I'm having similar issues as everyone else. App constantly just says, "Failed to connect," and the only way is to remove any lights I have and re-connect them only to have to repeat this same cycle every time I turn the lights off. I'll change my review if it gets fixed. My girlfriend on iPhone has no issues.

In order to use routines in every day life you need to turn on your selected routine Every. Single. Day. You can't just select the days of the week. Also, there's no option to turn off fade in. I'm very sensitive to light and the lowest setting is for 10 mins. That means I'll likely wake up much earlier than I intended. Please give us more features.

Terrible. App doesnt REALLY let you customize anything, but it lets you make an automation that usually wont work. Most of the time it chooses its own color and ignores any input, if you manage to get it to turn on at all. Little more than a headache, youll end up getting out of bed to unplug the thing at bedtime, which defeats the entire purpose of the thing. Recommend trying a different brand, this one is not the one and the app is largely useless. Oh, and they collect a ton of obscure data.

STOP AUTO-RESTARTING. I do not need the app running in the background, and any app that automatically restarts itself in the background every 8 to 12 hours is spyware. I infrequently use the app (haven't used it in at least a week, and typically use it once or twice a month to adjust outdoor lighting), and once the bridge is set up, the app is not necessary unless I want to make changes. However, I keep finding this app restarted and running in the background for no valid reason. FIX IT.

App was good for a year. I have 4 recessed lights, and up until I updated, the app worked perfectly. Then it only connected to one light, then the app lost three of the lights altogether. Not just failing to connect, they disappeared from the app. I uninstalled the app then reinstalled. It took 2 hours to connect and could only connect to 3 lights. Five hours later, 3 connected lights failing again. But my daughter, who has an iphone is experiencing zero issues! Clearly and android issue.

Wake up automation stopped working June 20, 2024. Morning of 6/20, lights failed to turn on over scheduled time range. 6/21, once again failed. I went into the settings and moved it to a couple hours later, and that worked. Put it back to usual time for next day. 6/22, worked as expected. 6/23, failed again. I restarted the hub. 6/24, worked as expected. 6/25, failed again. My setup had been working mostly fine since September 2020, apart from lights sometimes randomly turning off on their own.

Please keep working on the app. 3 complaints. #1 the app constantly disconnects from the hub when closed and you have to wait a few seconds for the app to connect every time you open it. I'm constantly waiting. #2, i want to mix sunset routines with absolute time. like lights come on at subset and off at 11pm. let me do this! Finally, the location awareness sucks. I pull into my driveway and have to open the app for it to realize I am home and to execute the come home routine and turn lights on.

Works well...when it works and it often doesn't work. Routines randomly stop working, or work one day but not the next. Support (which is just a list of FAQ - no live support) says 'delete and redo the routine' but that didn't help. Worked well the first couple of years, now I never know if the lights will be on or not. When I replace it, it won't be with another Hue device.

I've had this system now for a few years and last night (October 25, 2020) it stopped working. It keeps saying that it can't find the bridge and to make sure that is on the same Wi-Fi. No problem with my Wi-Fi & live alone, no pets, pretty much it's router & bridge have been untouched. I'm not the only one having this issue. Until they give us a fix, this rating is going to stand.

Updated app again today, still a big mistake. The app had me log in (why? Other apps update and stay logged in!). Screen did not go beyond the log in. I'm sure my Hue lights need software updates, which I was planning to do but can't. I don't want to go thru the whole process again of setting up groups etc. Fortunately they still work fine with Alexa controlling them by voice command.

The old app was better, it was easier to use and always able to discover new lights. It takes me hours to get lucky enough to add one new light. Even if I use the Serial Numbers, the new lights just blank. Since I have 4 hubs and close to 150 lights; I think I have some experience in adding lights. Get ready for a lot of headaches folks when adding new lights.

Works well but Google home is buggy, used to work fine, now it works but it also says "can't reach hue", right after execution of a command. So how can it adjust lights if it can't reach hue? Also the geofencing does not work properly, if you leave the fence area and return but don't have service or wifi until inside the fence , the action is not taken. The app on the phone should determine if u r coming or going and issue the cmnd as soon as you have connectivity. 3 star.

Used to be a fine, if basic app. I can no longer connect to or use any of my lights, of which I have a houseful. It's been several weeks at this point. After uninstalling and reinstalling the app, it tells me that the bluetooth app needs to be updated. The bluetooth app doesn't even show up in the play store. Why can't I just use my internet-connected bridge? Philips: Why are none of your apps working properly and what are you doing to fix it? These lights are expensive and this is unacceptable.

The app forgets the lights and even the login. I am not going to re-re-reset a working bulb just to get the app back online. My login should restore my last saved settings. It should also allow us to login and pull our configuration on more than one device (phones or tablets) without requiring a reset of our bulbs. Please bring the app up to current standards for persistent configuration and multiple devices without requiring setting up each and every bulb each time. No response here, either.
