So far, the update fixed the problem, now it allows the phone to be connected to the app, it still takes a little longer, but as soon you exit the app two times, it finally worked, the other issue is when you want to choose your own song, it crashes... but most of all, the EQ still works, when you change the radio on your phone, it's still a bit confusing... my idea is having the buttons for the radio on the phone... anyway, thank you for letting bluetooth devices allowed on the phone 😊

Love the control I have over the system with the app. It makes it easy to change settings with the inferace. Other than that, the app is running 24/7--sucking up battery all the while. Took me a good minute to get it to connect (might want to try low-energy bt). If I opened another app to play music, it would remain open indefinitely. Meaning after I got out of my car, it started to play music; so I have to restart my phone. (App still going too)

It's a decent app. Needs work. Every time I connect my phone to my Bluetooth, I have to go in and make sure all my audio settings are the same. It's on a daily basis that my subwoofer will randomly get shut off, or my lpf will get switched off for my sub and my mids/highs. It's annoying. Half the time, the damn sync app doesn't even want to connect to my radio, then I have to shut off bluetooth, turn it back on, then change the audio settings again. Hopefully they'll fix this. It's a useful app

Sync'd my head unit and Spotify works with no issues. Sometimes I can listen to the music files on my phone, sometimes it just doesn't work. I sit in park trying to get the "app to connect" and nothing happens no matter how many times I try. Very annoying. But Spotify always works with no issues so I know my phone is connected. Interface is really bad, its all just tutorial documents? Very weird and confusing.

When I first got the radio, the app connected really well with the radio. Now, like 2 weeks later... I can't can't listen to the regular radio because its frozen. There is no volume, connection, anything... its just frozen. The app does not connect at all anymore. Time to find a new radio that comes with a better app... hopefully one that will actually work. So disappointed in Pioneer and this app that they're using.

(Rewriting my review due to some new info) Apparently you have to update the radio's firmware for the app to work properly, which isn't made clear at all. Also, you have to put the update on a USB stick. Why can't you just do it from the app? Until I'm able to do so, the app still works if you plug your phone into the unit's USB port (check the settings on the unit). I still don't get why it needs location to work, though. Thankfully you can block the app from going online in Android's settings.

This app automatically boots up every time I try to synch it with any USB or bluetooth device, lagging my phone out like mad. On top of that, music automatically starts playing from my phone whenever the app boots up (and why they have not included a pause button is beyond me). So, simply plugging my phone in to the radio and getting to Spotify, a task that should only take about 5 seconds, is turned into a 2 minute ordeal. Just bad programming.

85% of the time the Bluetooth sync doesn't work. Without rhyme or reason it will connect when and if it wants to. Even disconnecting and reconnecting the phone's Bluetooth doesn't work. Please put a one button (re-sync) that doesn't have to be overly complicated. Thinking about just cutting losses and going back to the stock stereo! The new solution barely solves anything. Thank goodness your DJ equipment isn't this unreliable! Please fix the connectivity issues! 2 stars for decent sound options

So if you're using Bluetooth audio, it's probably a 5 star. But using USB sticks, each update gets worse. I'm not sure if theyre just cramming more data through Bluetooth than it can handle. So when smart sync started years ago, my 200+USB sticks worked and quickly. Still does without the app. But as is, Everytime you go to view your folders.. it takes seconds on each page. And it does it every ....single....time you go to search for a folder. Pioneer, debloat your app

The app rarely auto launches when the stereo and the phone are range of one another. App status always says "Waiting for Connection". Powering cycling the head unit, restarting the app, power cycling the phone does nothing. I did give three stars because, when it does decide to work, it's quite useful. Maybe a little clunky but, does what it says it does.

Used to have no problems connecting to my stereo. Doesn't seem to work anymore after Feburary update. The Spotify function seems to have disappeared completely. No matter what I do, I cannot get the app to recognize that the phone is connected even though the standard Bluetooth function of the radio is still working fine. The app itself feels antiquated, but when it does work it's nice to have the the ability to fine tweak the equalizer.

The app taps into my deck, allowing me to change the volume and track through the app. Not only that, every setting is able to be changed through the app, and I'm able to fine tune my EQ. I can't seem to get the app to save my Distance unit setting to Miles instead of kilometers. I also have an issue intermittently with my app not loading my settings at startup, and I have to manually load my stereo settings. UPDATE: Pioneer has fixed my issues. I am enjoying my pioneer deck and app.

Have to keep restarting app, phone, head unit, or all 3 just to get it to connect. The app runs all the time on phone and constantly notifies me that its trying to connect even when im not in or near my car (most annoying thing). Interface is not intuitive. Their idea of 'safety' is making me click preset buttons until I get to the one im looking for?... why the hell is there an altitude meter on the main page?... too many problems to list. They made a pretty looking app that is pretty useless.

So at this point I just got the app working. I was having a problem getting the app to see my main unit. It would appear on the list but the app said it could connect. The problem was in the main unit. There is a system setting called app control. Mine was set to wired. Chaging it to BT solved the issue. So far I like this app, but finding out what my problem was was a little difficult so only 4 stars.

For having the word "smart" in its name, the app sure is awfully dumb. It works decent. UI looks like it's from the 90's. But biggest problem is its constantly running. Even if I try and kill the process it comes right back. There is zero need for that. So... Looks like I'll be uninstalling it till I need it again. And then repeat process for each time I need it in future.

the app is terrible. have to reset to miles/feet every time i open it. it won't auto connect without me manually going in and connecting to Bluetooth first. Pandora and Spotify fail to connect 99% of the time. after trying 10-15 times, it might connect. if not i just give up. it could be really nice if it actually worked. i have the new Google pixel 3 and a compatible pioneer head unit. also doesn't auto correct even with usb. finally deleted it. kept resetting all my audio settings and I had it

Only thing that makes this partially decent is pioneers sound....its not worth the trouble of removing and sending it back. Sound is crystal clear, but the overall the app is about as worthless. After all the stores info I was sold. They made it sound fantastic, with all the features people want. Problem is.. None of them work.... Like never. Im gonna set it on a radio station and never connect a phone to it again until I find something to replace this.. Maybe I can repurpose it as wheel chock.

Works sometimes. The app only works sometimes when I initially get into my car. It doesn't work. I disconnect the face to the stereo, then sometimes it will work, and sometimes it won't work most recently. I got a new phone, and the app is not working whatsoever. Very disappointed.I'm just looking at getting a whole new deck for my 84 cutlass

Edit of Edit.... Both calls and music must be enabled to connect... EDIT again..3 different phones app does not connect anymore. Period. Finds device, Bluetooth works, says can't connect. Credit where credit is due. The app is much improved somehow. I do not have the connection issues that I did before. It works as intended. Would be five stars if it weren't for the frustration leading up to this point.

Deleted app because it drained my battery when not in use - cut my battery life in half. The only thing this app is good for is showing a song title and a clock. The 31-band EQ is good, but you have to know to hit the magnifying glass to adjust individual frequencies. It doesn't work with Android text messages, only Facebook and WhatsApp etc. It fails to connect about 1/3 of the time. You can't set up the "dash mode" - it just asks you to "accept changes" you didn't make, with no escape feature.
